'07 FL RB Noel Devine (West Virginia signee)

From the SI article posted by ant80 in the previous page:

Most infamously, Devine was nearly adopted by mentor Deion Sanders (a North Fort Myers product) last August before taking a Cadillac Escalade from Sanders' Dallas-area home, driving it to the airport and leaving it parked at the curb before flying back to Florida.

For the record, this occurred in August, 2005 - not "last August".

This kid needs a trusted mentor so bad...
Unless he finds one, I venture to say.. he could end up a troubled casualty...

It's a shame he didn't have Ted Ginn Sr in his life...
Deion Sanders tried.. but not sure he was the mentor this kid needed...

so much talent.. but without a support base... it could all go to waste

just a few months ago the house he stays at got busted for selling hard drugs....he wasn't arressted but his roommates were......i hope he pulls it together, and stays out of trouble....i think a move from Florida was a good decesion as badly as I wanted to see him in a FSU uni

The guy is looking like a star at the college level; even with his lack of size and some people quesitoning the talent that his high school team played.

Week 1 Stats:

7 Carries 44 yards; 1 TD. 1 reception 19 yards

Week 2 stats:

5 Carries; 76 yards; 2 touchdowns.

I am pumped to watch Devine on Thursday night against the Terps...should be a great game!

Anyone who's been around recruiting for a while has no doubt seen this kid's highlight vid. While I always thought it was highly impressive, I also figured once he got to college the spectacular runs... spinning, juking, Playstation-esque, stuff would come to a swift end.

Not so.

That run where - his shortest of the night - when he ran through a 15 yard face mask penalty settled it for me. Most guys would have just gone down.. Devine seems to let his body go with the force which had been implemented against his head, and just keeps on running. I don't know what it is, but there are guys - and Devine seems to be one of them - who let the run come to them... they just 'go with it' If a guy spins him around, OK... we'll spin. If a guy shoulder tackles him to the right, OK, fine... we'll take this one to the right....

Very impressive night.

West Virginia loves Noel Devine

West Virginia already had a killer running game, right? Well, in case you haven?t seen them play yet this season, the Mountaineers have added a major piece.
He?s Noel Devine, a freshman from Fort Myers who rushed for 6,842 yards and 92 touchdowns as a high school player. It?s clear already that the state is impressed.

I'm glad to see the kid doing well and living up to his ridiculous potential. Rodriguez continues to quietly do a good job of landing and developing RB talent, and seems to have Devine on the right track. He needed that after the Gwaltney mess.
