'07 Bucks to mirror '02 Bucks?

Please, both of you, stop.

As far as our QB situation is concerned, I don't see a problem with making comparisons to Krenzel. I mean no one is saying that any of our QBs could step on the field now and do what Krenzel did, but theres no reason why they couldn't be as good, or better, by time they get to the tough parts of the Big 10 schedule, or atleast be able to manage a game.

I think our Defense will be scary, considering how well they played this year, and the chemistry and experiance they will have coming back next year. Our D-Line will still be a force just because of all of the young talent we have to move around and work with.

Receivers and RBs will be solid. Pitt will be back, I have a feeling Gonzo will be as well. With those two seniors leading the younger guys at their positions, itll only make everyone better. CWells will be nasty.

O-line should give the new QB time to work and learn, which will be invaluable.

Our schedule next year will be perfect for a "reloading year"

YSU
Akron
@Washington
Northwestern
@Minnesota
@Purdue
Kent State
Michigan State
@Penn State
Wisconsin
Illinois
@Michigan

I put the games I think will be a serious challenge in bold. Our team will have plenty of time to gel before our first serious challenge in my opinion, however, when the time comes will our team know how to deal with a close game? or a series of close games in a row for that matter. I think that's one of the biggest questions for next year.

From what I hear re: Rob S. they say that as long as he doesn't press the issue too much (ie: try to do too much) during spring ball he'll be the guy in the fall. Henton is also supposed to be doing quite well, but he's still undersized, and not near as experienced with the offense.

I think we can throw the "undersized QB" argument under a truck considering what Troy has accomplished. Unless it's a weight reference because Troy is solid. As far as the to-be QB...no one here ever said we have someone as good as Krenzel, I think a lot of people are just saying, in '02 we had no idea what we were going to get from Craig. He played smart though and lead us to the NC...all I was pointing at was the fact that we could very easily have another guy step in and play similar smart ball and "get the job done". NC...might be a stretch though...who knows? Defense does win NC's afterall. O can too, but with a nasty D, anything is possible.

It's a weight reference, not height.

I think another game that could be a challenge is that Purdue game. Back-to-back B10 games on the road are never easy. Purdue is bringing back some solid talent from an 8 win team this year.

Purdue will definitely be an interesting team next year but I don't think the outcome of the game will be anything like it was in 02. I'd like to have the game sealed by the 4th. That game was TOO freaking stressful.

I don't care if it took 10 years off my life, I wouldn't trade the thrill of 2002 for the world. Before the game, I'll always tell you I'd prefer a Buckeye Blow-Out to a close game; but in hind sight, I cherish the memory of "Holy Buckeye".

So I see OSU wants to steal the coveted Northeast Ohio Championship crown. I don't know if we've had one of those since 96. :p

[BB73]Naw,

We were 5-5-1 in '96 under coach Charles A. Hickey. We even managed to lose to Oberlin that year. No NE Ohio championship there.

It was surely '99 that you're thinking of when they went 9-0-1 under coach
Dr. John B.C. Eckstorm.

That year, the tie came against Case Institute of Technology. Case was the only team to score on the Buckeyes that year, and the game ended 5-5.
