'06 OH OL/DT Aaron Brown (Virginia Tech Signee)

Boy you guys never cease to amaze me I want to congradulate Aaron and his parents on a job well done. And if your thinking OSU we welcome you dont let there comments curve your decision GO BUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

And I see why you dont let internet junkies are writers talk to your son look how they act Your kid was the greatest linemen in Ohio and now hes nothing that is oh so funny. I will follow all ohio kids and wish them the best but i am a buckeye for life. And I hope that you are too!!!!!!!! GO BUCKS

You must be reading some posts that I don't see...I think this forum has been very calm and avoided bashing. Mr. Brown has received some criticism but nothing major.

Just like a major prospect supposedly deserves special attention, folks involved with that kid must also have thick skin. Sometimes an honest evaluation about a kid you truly believe in is not exactly what you may want to hear.

Trust me, everyone here is well aware that bashing kids is not tolerated on this site.

Well we sure see why we don't let writers like you teach our son's either. At least take a little time to glance over your writing. It becomes very difficult to read when people type words the way they think they sound.

I'm not going to get worked up about Brown. I agree with the poster who commented about Connor Smith. While Brown he has great upside and I would like to have him he can go where he wants. He has only got as big as he has in one year. If anybody hasn't looked at BN's threads and wants a laugh go check it out. I post there quite a bit and will defend all the reliable and sensable posters but man there are some idiots over there. People are blaming the coaching staff for not getting Brown and he hasn't even decided yet! Anyone who thinks one recruit at the Texas game was more important than the players, alumni, and fans is insane. I haven't followed recruiting for very long but this recruit has made me see the light. If someone doesn't want to be a Buck and be part of our tradition then let them go and i'll take all the players who take pride in our tradition and work hard to uphold it anyday. If they aren't going to go in for the Buckeyes and take pride in wearing that old scarlet and grey like the past greats did, then it isn't fair to all of us that grew up loving The Ohio State University. If Brown is willing to do that then come on down and if not then go to VTECH.

He hasn't received the accollades and offers because he hasn't put in the hard work. having 70 offers, rated as the number 1 O-lineman in Ohio High mag, one of the top 15 lineman in the country and a top 100 player on every guru's list didn't happen by chance. The staff has seen Aaron since the 8th grade. Aaron cares about the Bucks, but he is making a decision based on what he perceives as the best situation for him and his personal goals. Maybe JT, Bollman, etc can't help him realize those goals in the time frame that Aaron has set for himself. Maybe they can. You get in where you fit in. If you're not sure, then it's up to the recruiters to help you see that their university is where you can "fit in."

This puzzles me. Having received all of these offers and accollades, what assurance is he looking for specifically? Minimum playing time? Stardom? If he is the #1 O lineman in Ohio, then get in here (or wherever for that matter), work hard, show you are #1, and you will get on the field. A #1 ranking by so-called "gurus" means jack. Malcolm Jenkins was a 3 star recruit, far from being #1 at his position, yet here he is in the starting lineup ahead of some 4 and 5 star recruits. If Aaron cannot fit into this type of a system where the best person plays, and where the best person is determined on how you practice and play as opposed to how many "gurus" rank you #1, then so be it.

I don't disagree either way but I didn't see any evidence of your claims toward the attitude of the board or the posters. I understand if things are personal for you, but no need to blame the board for honest evaluations. Most people said he is worth the risk that he will meet his potential.

Anyway...

Aaron will visit Purdue this weekend. George Brown says they would not visit if there was not sincere interest.

The sad thing about this, is at certain sites, he would be 100% correct in his evaluation

I agree 100% and I don't even put this one above the assessment. However, I don't see the widespread reaction he alluded to in his earlier post.

There is a difference between guys who have been skeptical for months and give honest evaluations and a bunch of sour grape reactions.

I posted this earlier in this thread....

The recruitment of Brown has had its ups and downs. The Brown's have been implying that OSU didn't exactly impress them and there is this preception that Aaron and his parents want him to feel "wanted" by schools. I really don't have a solid idea of where Aaron will end up.

The staff has done an outstanding job of recruiting Brown, if he decides to go elsewhere, it will not be because OSU didn't make him feel welcomed.

If he winds up at another school, its because he felt more comfortable, not because the staff failed.

Sometimes a kid and their family only here what they want to hear.

If we lose Chris Wells or Rob Rose, that's a huge loss, b/c we will not land anyone close to their caliber this year (at least not from our home state). If we lose Small or Brown, that's not a huge loss, b/c we have enough depth currently and have plenty of other options to recruit this year. It doesn't mean that those players aren't very talented, it means we can survive that loss much easier than a Wells or Rose. There's a difference between bashing a kid as worthless b/c he's headed elsewhere... and being rationale about the big picture.
