'06 OH ATH Derrell Johnson (Iowa Signee)

It's sad to me that he won't get to be a Buckeye as he appearantly wanted, but I'm happy for him to have an opportunity with some other fine programs and wish him luck (unless he chooses scUM :wink2: ).

Iowa has made significant inroads in to NE ohio over the last couple of years (although i don't think they have snagged any recruits that we offered)

At a minimum they have....

Arvell Nelson,
Stanzi....The QB from Lake Catholic
Trey Stross
Anton Narisnki (sp?)
Bradley Fletcher (from my alma Mater...youngstown liberty)
Chris Rowell
BJ Travers (sp?)
and possibly Derrell Johnson shortly...

Michigan has now offered Derrell...

hopefully his love for the Bucks will be enough to keep him clear of Ann Arbor, I would hate to see him end up there and have that extra motivation to stick it to us...

Its gotta be tough for a recruit to understand how he can't get admitted to OSU (from in state) but he can at scUM and other strong academic institutions out of state. Shit it doesn't make sense to me either

It's an obvious flaw in the system...one that other athletic programs struggle with as well. It doesn't seem fair, but it's the way things are at this point and all we can do is wish Derrell the best (except for OSU/scUM weekend if he heads North :wink2: ).

I'm happy for him. He worked hard to get in at Ohio State. While Iowa is clearly his second choice he still gets to fill the rest of his dream by playing in Iowa. (Hope he gets to beat Michigan despite not being in Scarlet and Gray).

agreed, congrats to DJ. He worked his tail off, and now will be playing top flight football every week. And if he goes pro after 3 years, OSU will only face him during his freshman year.
