'06 MD CB A.J. Wallace (Penn State signee)

With Chris Wells already in the bag, I think you can kiss this one goodbye. :osu:

ah, the BN optimism making it's way over here...

AJ should really be listed as an ATH. Rivals now lists him as the #1 CB in the country, yet schools are also talking to him about everything from safety, to receiver, to running back. You don't think the staff is aware of the fact that we already have Wells? So they are obviously trying to sell AJ on the idea of being a 1-2 punch with Wells or as a possbile RB/WR who could line up in the backfield, the slot, or the Shot-Ginn. I have to trust they wouldn't just call up AJ and say, "Hey we have the #1 RB in the nation signed, so come here and sit behind him for three or four years."

If we lose AJ it isn't going to be because of Chris Wells...

Right, but the fact that AJ has come out and stated his preferred position as RB says to me that the PSU coaches has done a very good job of selling the idea to him. It's true that the kid is versatile, but everything that I've heard read in the past has us recruiting him as a CB. If we lose AJ, it would have to do with PSU successfully selling him the idea that he could be a RB there.

I don't think there is 1 thing you can point at as to why PSU would get him over OSU.....but if there was I highly doubt this is it.

i believe OSU told him that he could very well see both sides of the field. i like this prospect a lot and when i heard about him having heavy interest in us at the beginning of the season i was ecstatic. with that being said, i really hope he chooses us over psu. i think the past five years should speak for themselves as far as success goes and our NFL player production has exceeded penn state's in the last few years let alone decade.

not to sound negative, but are these kids confident that JoePa will still be around for their 3/4/5 years? as a recruit, i would take this into account without a doubt.

I think the fact Wallace has been going to almost every visit with his buddy JB Walton is a factor that doesn't help the Buckeye cause. Sounds to me like this kid just wants to have a little drama when he makes his announcement for Penn State in San Antonio.

Well first he doesnt have the grades and if he does get in somewhere it isnt going to be PSU. There was a fallout during his visit.

As for Wallace you bring him in and find a position for him.
I was simply pointing out the fact that Penn State is/was a favorite school of one of the top RB's in the country (THE top, according to Rivals, prior to his injury). If Wallace were the type to be scared of competition (doubtful), then he could just as easily be "afraid of" the RB situation at Penn State. As someone said previously, a given school's RB depth chart will have little bearing on Wallace's decision, especially because: (a) he is arguably the nation's top CB prospect, and (b) could also play WR in addition to RB.

Bottom line: It still looks like Wallace will be going to PSU, and the fact that Chris Wells is an Ohio State verbal (and has been since February) will have very little bearing Wallace's decision (especially considering the "fact" that Wallace favored Ohio State in June).
