'06 FL OLB/TE Colin McCarthy (Miami Signee)

Rivals $

11/29

Florida has now offered McCarthy. Apparantly Coach Meyer called and offered him last week. They want him to come in for a visit, but his visit to Miami on Dec. 16th will be his fifth and final official. Colin said that he will check into visiting Florida unofficially. McCarthy said he enjoyed his visit to Georgia Tech for the game against Georgia.
It seems to be down to Miami, tOSU, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, and now Florida is in the picture.

Colin showed that he was turned off by PSU's lack of loyalty in cancelling his visit, I'm wondering if the lateness of UF's offer will turn out much the same way...

Hey Wad you forgot Moeller unless you think he will be a safety.

If we could get Homan, Moller, McCarthy, and Gibson/Johnson that would be amazing.

I was thinking safety for Moeller, but you are right in that he could be a part of an awesome LB corp coming in next year...

Florida offering McCarthy concerns me, but hopefully they are too late. I still think Gibson and Johnson are strong candidates to be in this class. Gibson, Homan, Johnson, Moeller would make an excellent class. McCarthy andhis versatility (TE/WR) would only be the icing on the cake...

Well in a way anyone beyond Homan and Moeller are going to be icing on the cake and we have a great chance with 3 very very good lb's. Hopefully we can nab two or maybe 3.

i still think a lot of folks are underestimating miami's clout in this one. He's a Florida boy, regardless of his PA roots, miami is his last visit, and mccarthy seems to be miami's primary lb target this year.

Well I think people are overlooking him b/c we were co-leaders at one point with PSU and he dropped them. I also think Miami and UF could be scary b/c they are the home state. We will just have to wait and see.

Keep in mind though, Miami is also loaded at LB to the point where a former 5* LB (James Bryant) has been moved to fullback, where as OSU is losing 5 of their best 6 LB's between this year and next (Hawk, Schlegs, Carp, D'Andrea, Kerr)...

Actually tsteele, I have just been reading about how Miami has made Josh Tatum their top LB target. He just visited there, and has moved them into a tie with USC, saying that the two are a toss-up. Now Tatum does still have his visit to USC (this weekend), so they could pull back ahead. If that is the case, then they may go really hard after Colin.

Good read from Dave Biddle... Colin just gushes about tOSU. Says he is down to four schools in tOSU, Miami, GA Tech, and Nebraska (not sure if this was written before the Florida offer). Coach Beckman was at his house yesterday, and Coach Tressel will be in next week. Coach Tressel called just after Coach Beckman left, and Coach Fickell has called also. Colin says that he will visit tOSU a second time before he makes his decision.

This is great news for Buckeye fans... Colin definitely seems to like tOSU an awful lot...

I believe that he was really turned off by UF coming in real late, and no longer see them as being competition. I see Miami as the big competition.
