'06 FL OLB/TE Colin McCarthy (Miami Signee)

Rivals $

11/8

Colin will visit Nebraska officially this weekend. He enjoyed his visit to Indiana this past weekend and the possibility of early playing time. Colin still seems to be put off by the cancellation of his visit by Penn St. and still maintains that he doesn't think he'll reschedule it.

McCarthy, Walter Dublin, Steven Wesley, Jamil Paris, and Bryan Thomas are all good possibilities, with McCarthy and Paris being the most likely, IMHO....

i would say that wesley and thomas are definately the longer shots of this group. paris is definately an intriguing prospect. mccarthy's recruitment has been quiet lately. i dont know if that's good or not. i am impressed with him and hope he joins the bucks.

the question is if mckenzie mathews commits to the bucks, does osu take both dublin and paris? I still feel rose will be a DT, and I think Larimore is an osu lean.

anyone considering Nebraska has to put the brakes on for moments and wait to see what is going to happen with that program. they are in the midst of another .500 season and Callahan may not get another chance next year. That situation should at least help us with the likes of Wallace, Dublin, McCarthy and guys liek Walton and Becker should we decide to pursue them down the road.

Nebraska Rivals $

11/14

Colin rated his visit to Nebraska this weekend a "9.5 or a 10". Nebraska is recruiting him as a Safety. He would like to play LB in college, but he is ok with the switch if it gets him on the field faster. tOSU and Nebraska stick out at the top of his list at this moment because of their fans and great gameday atmospheres. Indiana has fallen off after his visit there. He wants to visit Miami and Georgia Tech. tOSU, Nebraska, Miami, and GA Tech are his top four.

Wad,
You would think...till I throw out the name "Joe Thomas"......when faced with the opportunity to play at OSU vs. Pitt----he is still claiming he is solid with Pitt...you've got to be kidding me!

That's a different situation though bobcat. Thomas was already committed to Pitt when tOSU finally came through with an offer. There were some hurt feelings in the Thomas camp I think.
With McCarthy, we offered just as early as most of his offers. Plus, most analysts feel that he really likes the LB situation at tOSU. Nebraska is wanting him as a S, so that could play into his decision as well, which would favor tOSU and his natural position as a LB.

On a side note, I was talking with someone from the Miami board, and they said that they are not after Colin as hard anymore because of their LB depth. He said that he was disappointed though, because Colin was a big-time LB. He said whoever gets him will have a Butkus candidate on their hands in 3-4 years. :)
