Moeller will be a LB for sure. Lenix most likely as well. That being said, there is nothing wrong with bringing in 4-5 LBs in this class. Homan is most likely a Will and Thad is a Sam. Guys like Bowman and Johnson are inside LBs and McCarthy could end up at either OLB or TE. We are losing Schlegel, Carpenter and Hawk after this season, and D'Andrea and Kerr the year after that. With Freeman being out for however long and the fact that Hoobler and Terry will be juniors, this is an excellent time to restock the LB shelves, especially since there are so many good LBs out there this year.
Well, he'll start out as one, anyway. You know Tressel always says they let incoming recruits choose the position they want to play, then make changes as needs dictate. The staff tells Moeller he will come in as a hybrid-type OLB suited to stopping spread offenses, but if we do land 5 LBs, somebody's probably moving.
i agree with wadc completely. i think Lenix and Moeller both will be LB's. they are too good of playmakers to move from there.
i'm all for restocking the shelves now. we've got the best LB corps in the country, and that is a big selling point to recruits. they can watch our LB's play and be impressed. we won't have that feature after this year, so i say get all the good ones we can.
Colin enjoyed his official visit to Ohio State, and claims that the Buckeys are in his top five (but not the leader). Colin will visit Penn State in two weeks when the Nittany Lions takes on the Buckeyes in Happy Valley; he may also visit Miami and Florida.
If we aren't the leader after that game I don't know what will make us the leader. Does he say he has a leader though? Maybe he is just playing it off.
Lots of recruits don't name a leader until the day they announce. The fact that Colin hasn't publically stated that OSU is his favorite means little this early in the recruiting process.
long article with Colin talking about his season and his recruiting plans. talks some about his tOSU visit and what he is looking for in a school. likes the situation we have as far as PT with our LB'ers graduating.
McCarthy will be visiting Penn State for the Ohio State game this weekend. Penn State, Ohio State, Miami, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Indiana, South Florida, and Nebraska are the schools he is interested in.
