'06 FL OLB/TE Colin McCarthy (Miami Signee)

Doesnt sound like Colin was too happy about the cancellation of the visit. He said he doesnt know if he will still visit PSU and that is good news b/c it seemed like they were up there with us and UF and if they really were a favorite he would make sure he viisted them.

Well this situation only helps tOSU in my opinion.

As far as the decision to cancel the visits, I find this to be very unusual. PSU was just starting to get some momentum in recruiting and the game on Saturday would have been an excellent opportunity for those recruits to see what PSU is all about. Weird.

I understand Paterno wanting to spend time with the current team and family members but there are ways to do both.

Now back to McCarthy.....

Some Encouraging Info

I am normally a lurker here but I do have a little info on McCarthy. My neighbor directly across the street is one of McCarthy's high school coaches. He told me Sunday that McCarthy was to attend the OSU-PSU game and his intentions were to commit to the winner of the game. Apparently the decision by JoePa to cancel all recruit visits really "honked off" McCarthy and he may now be leaning towards tOSU. He also sees the opportunity to come in and play as being favorable with all of our starting linebackers graduating.

Florida Rivals $

Colin talks about the cancellation of his visit to PSU and some other visits that he will take. He states that he is still considering PSU, but they won't get a priority visit. Colin also states that he has had some interest from UF and FSU, but still no offers. They want him to visit before an offer, and he wants it the other way around. Colin states that he doesn't want to waste a visit on a team that he is not sure will offer. He has official visits planned for GA Tech and NC State, and an unofficial to Miami.

I believe Miami has taken a bunch of LB's the last couple of years though. They currently have 11 LB's on their roster, with only two Sr's. 5 Freshman, 3 Sophs, and one Jr. And they have James Bryant listed at FB, even though he was recruited as a LB. So he is a possibility as well. The 2 they lose are starters.
