IMO, DB, his chances of getting an offer without camp is zero. He'd have to have a really good camp to be considered. Does he like Maryland better than Ohio State is the question? You'd think Maryland would be more likely to offer of the two.

It will be one of the two... OSU appears to be so limited with offers this year, it appears that it may be a long shot for them to offer an out of state sleeper back/DB even if he does have 4.3 speed. What do you guys think?

DB- that is a tough call. I agree that tOSU is limited on schollies and there is some tough competition for DB/RB offers but if tOSU is high on your list of schools then I still might go.

You are visiting 5 schools this summer, maybe it is ok for one to be a long shot- Nobody thought RB Erik Haw would get an offer but he earned it at camp by running a sub 4.3 40. Anything can happen at camp.

True, with a 5' 10.5 frame he has plenty to work with, also 3 more days and he's a soph with a 27 Aug B'day. He's up to 160 since his last combine and is going through a slight growth spurt.

With colleges going deeper and deeper into the classes to recruit, growth potential has to be a factor. He ran his 1st 4.3 at age 15 last summer when he was 5' 8.5" 150lbs and he ran a 4.31 just the other weekend, so he's getting bigger and faster. He's also a three sport athlete with soccer and track. He had a track meet last Thur and Fri and he's in a soccer tournament this week, with another regional track finals this Thurs. He qualified for the 100, 200 and 4x400. Gaining weight right now a mild problem....:(

Right now MD is showing much more interest and will prob be one of his first offers, but we won't count out anyone at this point. I also agree that not camping at OSU, especially this year will mean zero offers....

What you also have to think about in trying to decide which camp to go to is which one will he be able to showcase his skills the best at , against top flight competition? OSU always has a large contigent of campers from Florida and around the country, not sure Maryland does someone more familiar with thier program might be able to answer that. By going up against the best at camps, he will be able to prove to the Coaches that he is the best.

Going to camps is also a good way to get discovered by other schools too, not just the school hosting the camp. If Darreus is interested in OSU I dont see a reason why you shouldnt send him to the camp, unless he likes Maryland more. There are always a TON of coaches at the OSU camp that will help Darreus get more exposure and it will also allow more schools in the midwest to see what kind of talent he has. Either way you go, you cant go wrong. Camping is the best way to get your name out there. I would say the first priority is to get a scholarship in the bag, then go for some big shot offers. But I would think it would be very hard to get a offer as a DB at Ohio State this year, but JT loves to stock up on DB's and even though we have O'neil and hopefully White already this year most of us expect to take just one more (harrison from dayton?), but I would say taking 4 would be more likely and possibly an athlete such as Lenix who could be a OLB or safty. Also there is no reason why Darrieus could not come to camp and be better than harrison and get an offer. It sounds like Darrieus has some height on Harrison and we do not like our corners short.

As for the list, I have to question Auburn, months ago our suspicions were confirmed that auburn got a DE away from the buckeyes with money. Now that he wants to leave he cannot because he is tanted and programs do not want to take that trouble on. More than that Auburn underachieves every year. There are too many other quality programs on that list to end up at Auburn.

My background is in the SEC and I am pretty sure they already are on probabation. I am well aware that every program has its problems, but Auburn seems to have such a long history of it that the are sure to get busted again. Even Terry Bowden said it happended when he was there.

More important to me than the chance that a school could get caught is the cheating, I do not like it, in life you are either honest or you are not, there is not middle ground. I don't want to see a quality kid go to a non-quality program. The years between 18 and 22 prepare you for life and if you go through those years believing that rules do not apply to you, it will not set you up for sucess in the future.

One Busy Athlete..

Ramsey qualified for the states in track for the 100, 200 and 4x400 relay. He ran a whoppinng 48.78 in the first leg of the 400m and he had a 22.39 200m run. This all came after playing in a district soccer game the night before...
