'05 OH ATH Alex Daniels (Minnesota signee, transfer to Cincinnati)

Friend of mine who's son plays basketball with Alex said that Alex told them he was going to Oklahoma. He said that the words out of Alex's mouth were: "I'm headed to Oklahoma, eventually." This was two weeks ago. Take that for what it's worth, but it doesn't sound good for OSU.

That could be the case. In Duane Long's latest update Daniels reports he will visit Oklahoma for the Nebraska game. Miami and Florida State's interest has picked up also.

IF he feels this is best fit then more power to him but if he wants to join something truly special of being a Buckeye then I will welcome him ...

Daniels comments on OSU-Wisconsin
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bill Kurelic
BuckeyeSports.com Recruiting Analyst

Columbus (Ohio) Brookhaven standout Alex Daniels was one of the recruits in attendance on an unofficial visit at the Ohio State-Wisconsin game.

Rivals.com

Daniels says he will soon schedule his first official visit.
Asked his thoughts on the game, Daniels said, "People just have to realize everybody is going to lose a game or two. They just need to start using their athletes. Try some new things."

Asked if he has scheduled any official visits, Daniels said, "I've got one to Oklahoma, Nov. 12. They play Nebraska."

Has Daniels scheduled any other trips?

"Not yet," he said. "I'm looking at Ohio State, LSU, Florida State, Florida. I sent my tape to Florida State and Miami. And Florida has a tape. Michigan started calling now. But I'm not looking at them."

"I won't make an official visit to Ohio State. I've been there so many times."

Asked if he has a favorite, Daniels said, "I'm pretty even now. I just want to go places, see what it's like. See where I can make an impact."

The 6-foot-2 and 220 pound Daniels has been playing linebacker, strong safety, a little running back, and a little tight end this season. However he is currently on crutches after sustaining a bone contusion. Daniels did not play this past weekend and will be held out next weekend as well.

Daniels is the No. 10 'athlete' prospect in the Rivals.com player rankings and the No. 6 overall prospect in the state of Ohio.

The Dogs of College Football?
Who's Talkin' Bull?
By Allen Wallace

National Recruiting Editor

"Let's put it this way, if you go to Miami, you go to the NFL," says Ohio ATH Alex Daniels (6-3, 225, 4.5). For the last four years they've been at the top of their game. They have some of the best athletes in the country. You just don't have six 1st rounders on one team. Sean Taylor is my college football idol.

Columbus Marion Franklin (OH) ATH Alex Daniels still denies a leader but favors Oklahoma, LSU, Florida State, Miami and Ohio State (visited). The 'Noles and 'Canes have not offered.
"I want to see these schools and read through the lines of the coaches who are talking bull--then I'll make my decision on where I want to go," says Daniels.

"Oklahoma has good size, speed and talent and they want me as a safety. I could go in there and play if I'm good enough and learn the system. They aren't afraid to play their young players and will play them until they mess up. They give their young players a chance to show their talent, and they have a great coaching staff too. It's far enough away and it would be a nice vacation from home to mature as an adult and a person.

"LSU has been going up and down lately and I'd like to go in there and have the opportunity to help an organization like theirs out. I want to play as a FR--go in and be a leader, but still do my role as a player. Their defense is great. But after coming off a great season last year, people think they're unstoppable. But losses happen, and that's all right. Everybody is going to lose at some point. People are putting way too much pressure on them. I think coach (Nick) Saban is cool and calm--he'll bounce them back.

"Ah…the Seminoles! They, as well as Miami, are the dogs of college football--they've got killer instincts. I like the way they carry themselves and how they make athletes into players. You could go there playing one position and end up playing another. And coach Bobby Bowden is legendary, like Joe Paterno at Penn State.

"Let's put it this way, if you go to Miami, you go to the NFL. For the last four years they've been at the top of their game. They have some of the best athletes in the country. You just don't have six 1st rounders on one team. Sean Taylor is my college football idol. It would be great to go there and play any position.

"I've sent my highlight tape out to both Florida State and Miami, and I'm waiting to hear back from them.

"Ohio State is only ten minutes away from where I live. The Buckeyes are not scared to play their FR either. The coaching staff is going through a lot right now. Everybody can win or lose and I really feel their pain. I want to be an impact player on the defensive side of the ball, and they want me as OLB. They have been recruiting me heavily and it would be a good opportunity to play football while staying at home."

Other offers include all Big Ten schools except for Michigan. Daniels also has offers from all the MAC schools, as well as from Maryland, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Kentucky.

He will officially visit Oklahoma (11/12), Miami (if offered), Florida State (if offered) and LSU.

Seven game (7-0) stats: 63 tackles/8 TFL/6 sacks/6 FC/1 INT-TD

Daniels suffered a serious contusion to his right thigh in his fifth game. Next week will be his first game back from injury.

3.2/16 ACT/retake unset

He now has eight favorites Ohio State, Oklahoma, LSU, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Purdue and Wisconsin . He has offers from everyone except the teams in Florida and LSU. He claims not to have a leader. He wants to take all five visits before he makes a decision (tOSU will not be one of those visits-because he has seen them enough). He has one visit set for 11/12 at OU.

Alex was at the game too. I am surprised they didn't have a picture of him. He was sitting right on the fifty. I also found it odd that he stood up doing the entire first drive, while everyone around him was sitting. He was definitely more than interested in the game!

I have to say his recruiting story is one of the odder ones in this class. Every article you read it sounds like he wants to leave C-bus for OU, a Florida school, LSU, or just about anywhere. His mom also wants him to leave town.
But on the flip side he has attended just about every home game and seems to be a Buckeye fan. Plus after all this time of discussing his intention see what else is out there, he just set up his first out of town visit (will see if that actually happens). I guess there is plenty of time for him to make his visits and leave C-bus but his actions just don't seem to match his comments.

Time will tell....

Daniels will visit Oklahoma this weekend with Keith Massey. Massey is bring his trainer with him, not his parents because his trainer is "more level headed than my parents." Oklahoma has not decided where exactly they will use Daniels if he were to sign with them. His Mom still wants him to leave Ohio. Daniels wants to see if the atmosphere on gameday is better at Oklahoma than it is in Columbus because he's walked on the field at the Horseshoe and he says "there is nothing like it that I have seen."

Daniels will be hosted by Adrian Peterson.

Kind of a funny story-in the elevator coming down from C Deck after the game a guy in a Buckeye jacket was cheering and joking and everyone in the elevator was listening to him and laughing. He had his hand on his teenage son's shoulder, on a blue and yellow puffy type jacket and somebody said something about scUM, and the dad replied "No, he just plays for Brookhaven and that's the school colors. I did a double take this morning too." Anyway, I asked the kid about Alex Daniels and he said "No, he likes Oklahoma", and the dad immediately went into a funny spiel about why Alex should stay in Columbus.
