'05 CA OL Kevin Bemoll (California signee)

in the rivals article, coach johnson states that bemoll is still committed to osu but he is taking other visits, but he wouldnt say to where.

i dont know if he is just positioning for the recruiting sites to keep them off bemoll's tail or if he overstated the issue to you Allan.

i imagine coach johnson has received 50 phone calls since i spoke with him yesterday....

a quote i wrote down was "he is looking at other places now".....

i dont what bnuts said as i cant read their articles, but it appears they talked to him and he decommited.....that i know nothing about....

feel free to fill me in on the gist of that article....

edit: rds on bnuts....who knows more about bemoll than any of us had this to say just a short while ago:

"The comment by Coach Johnson is somewhat cryptic. Yes he is still committed and may even end up going to OSU. But if UCLA had had room for him or USC had wanted him I think he already would have decommitted. He will check out Cal, Oregon, and maybe Arizona St."

This sucks about Kevin. I hope he reconsiders us... and I hope the other verbals stay put...

I am hoping that JT and others will be able to talk him off of the ledge. I would like to see three "O" lineman in this class and if he goes else where I think we would end up filling another need or take a lesser or "project" lineman to replace him.

quick question. i saw on different threads at BN and rivals that bemoll wasnt returning the staff's calls.

wasnt there a dead period from 12/19 to 1/2 where coaches couldnt contact recruits but recruits could call coaches?

perhaps bemoll got cold feet during this time, but osu's staff couldnt reassure him. Either way, if bemoll has officially decommitted osu still has a chance for his services.

FYI: the comment that it is very unlikely that Bemoll would sign with osu was added by the BN staff.

Getting back on topic....

I think he's smart to look around. I can only imagine how tough it would be to move so far away from home. The only way to feel comfortable about your decision would be to see where your heart leads you. Hopefully he'll weigh his options and still sign with us- if not, at least he was straight forward with us rather than screwing us in the end!

According to a Rivals article today, Bemoll and Williams's HS football coach says that both are still commmitted, though to different degrees.

EDIT: Actually, sorry, now they just posted a story aying that Bemoll is unlikely to honor his verbal commit.

If your story was that Bemoll is unlikely to come, then I know now. I had been on BSB earlier and saw a snippet of the article that said their HS coach claims "bot are committed, but to different degrees". Right after I posted the first part of my post, I went over to BSB and found out that they now had a new story about how he will not be a Buckeye. I edited my post and corrected myself.
