  1. Personal Opinion VS Personal Judgement

I'm a person with strong opinions, and if I have an opinion on something, I'm going to say it, no matter how unpopular it is. If you want to drop the subject (like I thought everyone would after the jeering was out of the way), I'd be glad to, but by continuing this "debate" here, it's doing...
  2. Personal Opinion VS Personal Judgement

I have not broken any rules, I have not slammed Ohio State ONCE on here, and until there's actually a reason to get rid of me (which there won't be), I'll continue posting. Sorry but you're stuck with me. And no, there's no active Penn State board. I'd join but there's no fun in joining boards...
  3. Personal Opinion VS Personal Judgement

I know you apparently all think it's lame, but I'm conservative leaning so I'm naturally against homosexual acts of any type, male or female. I'll stop there because it'll become a political debate if I take it any further, and this isn't the politics board.
  4. Non New-Year's Bowl Games

The Alamo Bowl, I get to see Penn State whoop Texas A&M. Who's playing in the International Bowl? Do you think the coaches will be confused when suddenly there's two fifty yard lines, field goals that go wide are live balls, and there's no fourth down? :tongue2:
  5. Downtown Revitilization

Altoona has a skyline too, but mostly of historic buildings as you can see. The tallest downtown buildings are the hospital, the cathedral, the Penn Alto Hotel, the Black and Yon Building (despite being only six stories tall, each floor is around 20 feet high), and the Green Avenue and 11th...
  6. What song are you listening to right now

I just finished listening to a 1943 recording of "The Wishing Waltz" by Sam Browne and the Squadronaires. I generally listen to the kind of oldies that your grandparents (and for the younger ones here, your great grandparents) grew up listening to.
  7. Downtown Revitilization

Does the downtown have a sharp dividing line (either natural or some other physical boundary) or does it gradually recede like Altoona's? In Altoona it's a very gradual transition, for example, 13th avenue is mostly commercial/residential multistory structures with a very urban feel but with the...
  8. A Mother's Heartbreak.

I'd encourage him to go to Penn State, but that's just me. :psu2: Say, can we get some smilies that have "WE ARE" and "PENN STATE" on them?
  9. Downtown Revitilization

I'm sure most people here are from the "rust belt", an area built on industry that's now declining. How's your city's downtown? Is there a lot to do, places to eat and have a good time, is it a dead downtown with a few vacancies and where everything closes at 5 PM, or is it a truly dead downtown...
  10. Personal Opinion VS Personal Judgement

I don't get the appeal of girls kissing girls. To me it's downright disgusting, but I guess whatever floats your boat.
  11. The Johnstown Flood

In the weather thread I mentioned the Johnstown flood, but I'm curious how many here has heard of this disaster that's happened three times? It happened in 1889, 1936, and 1977. The 1889 was the deadliest for the simple reason that people didn't know just how deadly the flood could be, the death...
  12. LSU Fans -Smell like Corn Dogs?

There's a Saban Bowl? I'm guessing a different Saban than who created Power Rangers in the early 90s.
  13. Sound Off !!! - Introduce Yourself

That's true, it sure beats bowls like the Motor City Bowl, the PapaJohns.com Bowl, and the Meineke Car Care Bowl. If I had the money I'd go to see them obliterate Texas A&M in the Alama Bowl but I think the biggest cost would be transportation and staying in a hotel.
  14. How's the weather?

Me too, ideally I'd have a climate like Fairbanks, Alaska, winter starting in the middle of October and no spring thaw until at least the middle of April. Only reason I haven't moved to there is because I love living in Altoona and I have big plans for Altoona's revitilization.
  15. Sound Off !!! - Introduce Yourself

Thanks for the introduction first of all. And yeah, it does suck to have a losing streak to Michigan, but it's pretty tough for the football team to play against not just Michigan's football team but also their referees and timekeepers (2002 and 2005 games). Luckily they'll be playing in Beaver...
  16. How's the weather?

Just lucky for you guys that you didn't get another Johnstown Flood that took place in Johnstown, Pennsylvania years ago. The Johnstown Floods were so bad that high water on the high ground part of the city's downtown was 14 feet deep, I saw on an old newsreel footage of houses lifted off their...
  17. How's the weather?

Sleet, freezing rain, and generally miserable weather in Altoona, Pennsylvania. So miserable that for the first time in years, I felt unenthusiastic about my workout today.
  18. Bengals at Steelers(-6.5)

Steelers playing the Bengels always worries me. It seems whenever the Steelers suck, they actually beat the Bengels, but if the Steelers are having a great year, the Bengels (who usually only have 2-3 wins at this point) ruin the Steelers' perfect year.
  19. Sound Off !!! - Introduce Yourself

:psu: Here's my introduction. First off, I'm going to say it right now, as my name implies, I'm a huge Penn State Nittany Lions fan, and I'm pissed that Penn State's stuck in the mediocore Alamo Bowl, but one optomistic possibility is three consecutive years of bowl victories. I'm not sure...
