Yep... that whole area is going to take a long time to clean up. My parents also live in that area (south of Ottawa) and had their 9-ft basement flooded to the ceiling. Half the town of Ottawa is under a few feet of water... the Blanchard River (same one you mentioned) usually crests about 12 hours after Findlay does and has been 7-8 feet over flood stage for quite a while now.

Just lucky for you guys that you didn't get another Johnstown Flood that took place in Johnstown, Pennsylvania years ago. The Johnstown Floods were so bad that high water on the high ground part of the city's downtown was 14 feet deep, I saw on an old newsreel footage of houses lifted off their foundations from the water being carried away, water several stories deep in some spots, and overall not a fun thing to experience.

Me too, ideally I'd have a climate like Fairbanks, Alaska, winter starting in the middle of October and no spring thaw until at least the middle of April. Only reason I haven't moved to there is because I love living in Altoona and I have big plans for Altoona's revitilization.
