For sure--as I originally said, we'd be fools to think our run offense is going to go out there and push around the MSU's of the world without some help from the passing game opening up the running game. But our run offense did something right against Nebraska--if Dobbins hits for 160+ and...
He started 12 games as a frosh and one-third of that (4) as a soph. And he only saw double-digit minutes in 12 of 29 games last year (and in only 8 of the final 25 games of the season). I'm sure that's not what he thought he should be playing. Not criticizing either side.
Well, the results say otherwise, at least for 2018:
- Dobbins had 163 yards, a 7.1 average, 3 TDs and a long of 42 yards. Those were all season highs.
- Weber had a 10.1 average, which was a season high, to go along with 91 yards and a long of 37, which were both good for his second-best game...
Interesting. My takeaway (but I haven't gotten back to confirm) is that it is not uncommon for this OSU defense to do fine or even make a play on first down and/or second down, just to have that negated by giving up a big gain on the next play. Case in point on the first drive of the game vs...
We'll need to come out throwing to open up the run. We'd be complete fools to think that our offensive line, which has struggled mightily against Purdue, Indiana and Minnesota, will be able to push around a run defense like MSU's.
Thanks. A couple questions for you:
1. What happened in that Michigan game, in your view?
2. Does Coach D start Rocky against OSU?
3. What your pass rush look like this year?
Even worse, that clown Kirby Hocutt claimed the week before the championship games that the margin between OSU and Alabama was thin. That weekend, OSU went out and beat #3 Wisconsin on a neutral field, and yet couldn't make up that "thin" margin? GMAFB.

I get that people are emotional after a loss, but are you really arguing against the proposition that Urban is light years ahead of Cooper in coaching? Because Cooper was good at recruiting...and that's about it. When it came to a big, rivalry, or bowl game, John Cooper was a complete deer in...
Thanks. Wonder if the Big Ten will acknowledge the mistake. Not sure what you think about SEC officiating, but I've been saying for years that Big Ten officiating is the worst. By far--I watch a fair bit of non-Big Ten CFB games.
So you're basically saying the latter happened, in my question? Because that set of circumstances happened, and the Big Ten refs gave Purdue a first down, where they otherwise would've been forced to attempt a field goal.
As for the Cooper vs. Urban discussion (and I get that you weren't comparing the two overall, LJB), Cooper can't hold Urban's jock. Cooper, on his best day, was a good recruiter, a mediocre (at best) in-game coach, and an awful guy to have leading your team in a rivalry game, bowl game, or...
