A lot of what Hoiberg did as far transfers and character was because recruiting at Ames was tough. Easier to build a program that way there than relying on 4 year guys. At Ohio State he might have a chance to build a program the more conventional way.
I'd take Dan Hurley over Mick Cronin any day of the week
What about McDermott at Creighton? Seems like he's recruiting at high level in the Big East. Plays an attractive brand of ball offensively. Hasn't gotten it done in the tournament
Sounds like he a really good showing on the AAU circuit this past weekend, could be drawing more interest
tough to recruit when it looks like you might not have a job after next season

Former Ohio State big man Trevor Thompson told ESPN he has signed with Thad Foucher of the Wasserman Group.
We're surrounded by Izzo, Pitino, Cal and Huggins which are 4 HOF or HOF caliber coaches. Archie is going to be able recruit really well at Indiana. Painter, Belien, Holtmann and Mack are all fairly capable recruiters.
Thad or whoever the next guy is gonna have a challenging environment...
I wondered how bad it could get this year.
It's past the point of no return. Firing the assistants won't do anything. Ohio doesn't have someone who could be a top 40 guy till Mitchell in 2019. Thads so damaged at this point even if we fired the assistants he won't get any good ones because...
This is what's mystifying about the recent run of hoops.
How does a veteran coach lose his ability to spot character in his recruits & lose the culture of the program.
One class can be excused but it's almost as if he can't bring in guys who fit into his scheme anymore. I could be missing...
He's stuck in limbo now with OKC. They aren't gonna be bad enough to get into the lottery & it's never going to be an attractive location to free agents. No guarantee Westbrook doesn't walk after this extension
Dramatic change in situation from when he got there. They are stuck in the...
I think that's a big problem with the lack of quality assistants. Drop off in my opinion from the quality of guys when Thad first started
As far not landing the big fish I think any non blue blood program is gonna have trouble going far outside their area to McDonald's AA caliber guys...
Supposedly despite being an alum of NC State he's holding out for an Ohio St or higher caliber job
My first call would be to Billy Donovan. Not sure he'd leave the NBA but circumstances in OKC are certainly different now
