Maybe this should go in the Texas visiting thread...but anyway, here's the beer breakdown:
Shiner Bock is the standard. If I moved out of state, and needed a beer to take me back, this would be it. Shiner has a couple of other brews as well (Light, Kolsch, Dunkelwiezen, Hefeweizen, etc)...
I'm confident either Colt McCoy or Jevan Snead will step up (Sherrod Harris is very smart and athletic - but likely needs to redshirt), but I don't think you can put too much pressure on a young QB. We'll have a good O-line, return all our RBs, and have a bunch of threats at WR. I smell a power...
Pretty tame comment, overall. "Lenn Robbins says Vince guarantees victory." Not really bulletin board material...more likely to hear the trojans say "Who the f@*$ is Lenn Robbins?" than get mad.
Vince could have answered it better...he's usually better just joking around the subject.
Oh, and...
As I see it, Holmes should go late first to early second. He's the type of WR that should have a lot of success opposite a top-tier WR e.g. Nate Burleson - looked awesome with Randy Moss getting the attention, but not so hot this year as the top guy.
This year is kinda weak at WR, so that helps...
Tech certainly has the ability to hang with us. Joel Filani and Jarrett Hicks are studly WRs - they will make plays and test our DBs.
Hodges is more mobile than previous Tech QBs, but seems more inconsistent. We should be able to keep him out of a rhythm.
Dwayne Slay is a big-hitter at...
Last year Les Miles allowed us to come back to win from 28 down.
Tonight, he allowed Tenn to come back to win from 21-0.
At Ok. State, he only really fared well against OU, going 2-2 in his 4 years there. Maybe he can outcoach Urban Meyer like he could occasionally outcoach Stoops...but it...
Oh lord. That goalline play reminds me of the 'evil' Roy Williams/Simms/Lehman interception.
Tenn = out of the top 25. The best thing you can say about them is that they barely beat UAB.
It should be different. TTech has more talent than they did in 2002, and you'd be playing them at the end of the season, instead of the beginning, when they are executing the hell outta Leach's system.
Of course, it is hard to predict how they'll perform in a single game, much less an entire...
Leach is an offensive minded coach. His scheme is, in all likelyhood, simply better conceived. Additionally, he and his team are completely committed to it. They have experience executing it, which counts for a lot.
Tech will put up 80 because Leach is willing to put up 80+ on anyone, anytime...
Let Ginn be Ginn.
The short WR screens and 2 yd outs can do as much to take a player out of the game as to get them into it. Easy completion, easy to stop for little gain. Ginn and Ramonce combined for 4 receptions and 13 yards off these plays. You have to get him the ball at speed. He can only...
Ramonce didn't line up (or atleast didn't get carries) at RB. He had two receptions at WR with little success. Oh, and he ran that lucky kick return.
Both teams left a lot of points out there. The red zone Ds for both teams beat the red zone Os. The game could have gotten into the high-30s for...
I think (for the moment, atleast) the game will be decided by the 'other guys'. All the guys that everyone knows - Hawk, VY, Ginn, Wright, Carp, Harris, Youboty, Huff, etc - are gonna come out to play.
Both teams will need solid production out of the younger, inexperienced players to have much...
David Thomas looked good. For the most part, I liked what I saw with Ramonce and Brian Carter at WR. Carter typically shows some good skills in practice and makes some good catches, but never did it in game. He said he and VY worked specifically on getting a crossing pattern down, and sure...
I figured he'd have been in with the back-ups which skews things a bit. The stat lines I've seen were 7 carries|10 yards|0 TDs. Not a terrible debut, but not what I'd expect from someone I've been hearing was going to be a threat at RB.
Will Wells and Haw be factors in our game? Looks like a...
Texas Kickoff Coverage (Don't know if it is different from last year): The coverage didn't look great, but I think we'll still be kicking off to yall. They had Huff on the kickoff team, and are using him to prevent long returns. He jogs down with the kicker and should be making tackles between...
