The eight Buckeyes will be inducted on September 9th, and honored at halftime of Ohio State's game with Tulsa the next day.

"Eight new members will be enshrined in the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame this fall. The Class of 2016, which includes athletes from eight sports, will be inducted Sept. 9 at a dinner and introduced to the public at halftime of the Ohio State home football game vs. Tulsa."

- The Ohio State University

Ohio State announced their 2016 class of inductees to the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame earlier today, with the most notable member of the class being Evan Turner. The Chicago native compiled quite the list of accolades during his time in Columbus. Turner's best year for the Buckeyes came in 2010, when he was named Big Ten Player of the Year, National Player of the Year, and was a first team consensus All-American. Earlier this year, Turner had his No. 21 jersey retired by the school at halftime of the February 16th game against Michigan.

Joining Turner in this year's class is Jantel Lavender, who is one of the most decorated women's basketball players in school history. Lavender became the first Ohio State basketball player, male or female, to win the Big Ten Player of the Year award four times, and the only women's basketball player in a Power Five conference to do so. Lavender is Ohio State's all-time leading scorer with 2,818 points, and the Big Ten's all-time leading rebounder, grabbing 1,422 rebounds in her four years with the Buckeyes.

Along with Turner and Lavender, there are six other inductees into this year's class. Men's tennis player Justin Kronauge has won more singles and doubles matches than anyone else in school history. Diver Randall Larson was a national champion and All-American. John Machado was the first three-time first team All-Big Ten baseball player in school history. Samantha Marder is the only three-time All-American softball player in school history. Track and field athlete Dan Taylor was a seven-time Big Ten champion, and a two-time national champion. Paul Zelenak rounds out the class, as he won numerous individual and team national championships.

"There is a Heisman Trophy candidate running the offense and a future first-round pick quarterbacking the defense at middle linebacker, but it's Ohio State's other captain it likely wouldn't be able to live without for long -- particularly early in the season."

- Austin Ward, ESPN.com

At first glance it may look like quarterback J.T. Barrett is Ohio State's most indispensable player, but Austin Ward of ESPN thinks otherwise. In Ward's opinion, the player who Barrett will be taking the snaps from, center Pat Elflein, is Ohio State's most indispensable player. After lining up at right guard last year, Elflein will slide over to center for his senior season, replacing Jacoby Boren. Urban Meyer and company have been planning for this for a while, giving Elflein practice reps at center over the past couple seasons, and Elflein has seen some limited game action there when he has been needed.

With Elflein being a potential Rimington Trophy candidate, his play on the field makes him very important to the Ohio State offense, but what makes him so indispensable to the Buckeyes is the leadership he brings. Ohio State has to replace three starters on the offensive line heading into this season, so a strong presence from Elflein is definitely needed. The unit will be called on to keep J.T. Barrett clean, as unlike last year, this isn't nearly as much depth this season behind Barrett at quarterback. Elflein's senior leadership will be called on early in the season, when the Buckeyes make the trip to Norman for a tough road matchup with Oklahoma in the third week of the season.

"(I'm) 10 times (better than last year). I look at the film and it amazes me, and I give that to (receivers coach Al) Saunders, because just sitting there and doing the extra meeting time with him and him really breaking down certain routes to me and how he wants them run, it's awesome."

- Cleveland Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor via Mary Kay Cabot, Cleveland.com

The 2015 season for former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor didn't go exactly as he planned as he was trying to transition from quarterback to wide receiver. Pryor made the 53-man roster for the Browns out of training camp, but was released by the team just a few days later. After Josh McCown was ruled out for the season in early December, Pryor was resigned, and in the regular season finale recorded his only catch of the season, a 42-yard reception against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now with a new coaching staff in place, Pryor is hoping a full offseason with the team will help him to become more comfortable at the wide receiver position.

With the Browns drafting Corey Coleman, Ricardo Louis, Jordan Payton, and Rashad Higgins in last month's NFL Draft, Pryor knows that he'll have to make a name for himself with the new coaching staff quickly. The good news for Pryor is his new head coach Hue Jackson is already familiar with him, after drafting Pryor as a quarterback in Oakland, as well as coaching Pryor during his short stint last year in Cincinnati. Pryor has credited his work so far with wide receivers coach Al Saunders to his growth already this offseason, and he feels like a strong season could be in front of him. The former quarterback feels had he stayed healthy last year he'd be even farther ahead of where he has grown this offseason. With a new coaching staff, and quarterback to work with, this could be the season in which Pryor breaks out at his new position.

OSU's full 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 football schedules are now out in the wild.

If you're trying to plan a family trip, a wedding, or the like around Ohio State football, the OSU athletic department did you a solid Thursday.

Thursday afternoon, Ohio State announced their last open date over the next four seasons. September 22, 2018, is filled by a matchup against Tulane. As expected, with the Big Ten moving to a three-game non-conference game model and OSU already having contests against Oregon State and at TCU on the slate, the game comes against a non-Power 5 opponent and at home.

OSU's full 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 football schedules are now fully fleshed out. No additional changes were made public in Ohio State's release and no further changes are expected until the 2020 season or later.

Though their core remains intact, the Buckeyes still aren't quite ready for Big Ten title contention.

The dust has settled from Wednesday's deadline for underclassmen to decide whether to return to college or embrace their professional dreams. With rosters virtually set in stone for the 2016-17 season, there's no better time than now to see how the pecking order in the Big Ten could shake out next winter.

14) Rutgers

2015-16: 7-25 (1-17 Big Ten)

Key returnees: Corey Sanders, Deshawn Freeman, Mike Williams, Jonathan Laurent

Key departures: Bishop Daniels, D.J. Foreman, Omari Grier, Greg Lewis

Why they're here: New coach Steve Pikiell has his hands full inheriting a Rutgers program that has not been to the NCAA Tournament since 1991 and has gone 3-33 in its first two Big Ten regular seasons.

13) Minnesota

2015-16: 8-23 (2-16 Big Ten)

Key returnees: Nate Mason, Jordan Murphy, Charles Buggs, Dupree McBrayer, Bakary Konate

Key departures: Kevin Dorsey, Joey King, Carlos Morris

Why they're here: With the suspension of transfer Reggie Lynch earlier this month, coach Richard Pitino has had to suspend or dismiss seven different players since the start of the 2014-15 season because of off-the-court transgressions. It will be interesting to see how long of a leash new Minnesota athletic director Mark Coyle grants Pitino moving forward.

12) Nebraska

2015-16: 16-18 (6-12 Big Ten)

Key returnees: Andrew White, Tai Webster, Glynn Watson Jr., Jack McVeigh

Key departures: Shavon Shields, Benny Parker

Why they're here: With White, who averaged 16.8 points per game in 2015-16, deciding to put off his pro dreams, Nebraska suddenly has an interesting backcourt mix, with the 6-7 White joined by Webster and a pair of transfers in Anton Gill (Louisville) and James Palmer (Miami, Florida). On the flip side, coach Tim Miles has to find production from what appears to be a limited frontcourt.

11) Penn State

2015-16: 16-16 (7-11 Big Ten)

Key returnees: Shep Garner, Payton Banks, Josh Reaves, Julian Moore, Deividas Zemgulis

Key departures: Brandon Taylor, Donovon Jack, Devin Foster, Jordan Dickerson

Why they're here: Coach Pat Chambers hopes to reinvigorate his program with what is an unprecedented recruiting class by Penn State standards: two four-star recruits (point guad Tony Carr, wing Lamar Stevens) and a pair of three-star players (power forward Joe Hampton, wing Nazeer Bostick), a group ranked fourth in the Big Ten and 26th in the country by 247Sports. Factor in the presence of UConn transfer Terence Samuel and the return of Garner, the team's second leading scorer last year, and the Nittany Lions have constructed the foundation of a promising backcourt and wing rotation.

10) Iowa

2015-16: 22-11 (12-6 Big Ten). Lost 87-68 to Villanova in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Key returnees: Peter Jok, Dom Uhl, Nicholas Baer, Ahmad Wagner

Key departures: Jarrod Uthoff, Mike Gesell, Adam Woodbury, Anthony Clemmons

Why they're here: The Hawkeyes should probably be lower on the totem pole, but consider this placement a vote of confidence in coach Fran McCaffery's player development system, which has recently transformed Uthoff, Jok, and Aaron White from three-star recruits into Big Ten stars.

9) Northwestern

2015-16: 20-12 (8-10 Big Ten)

Key returnees: Bryant McIntosh, Aaron Falzon, Derek Pardon, Vic Law, Scottie Lindsey, Sanjay Lumpkin

Key departures: Tre Demps, Alex Olah

Why they're here: The Wildcats are still a year away from a very real chance at their first-ever NCAA Tournament bid, but a step forward in 2016-17 is possible with further growth from McIntosh, Falzon, and Pardon, as well as the return of Law from a shoulder injury that wiped out the former four-star wing's 2015-16 campaign. The losses of Demps and Olah, Northwestern's first and third leading scorers last season, respectively, should not be underestimated, though.

8) Illinois

2015-16: 15-19 (5-13 Big Ten)

Key returnees: Malcolm Hill, Mike Thorne Jr., Jalen Coleman-Lands, Maverick Morgan, Michael Finke

Key departures: Kendrick Nunn

Why they're here: The dismissal of Nunn, the team's second leading scorer in 2015-16, is a blow that should be softened by the surprise return of Throne Jr., a 6'11 forward who averaged nearly 13 points and nine boards in eight games last season. The continued development of Hill (18.1 ppg in 2015-16) and Coleman-Lands (42 percent from 3) plus the addition of intriguing Cleveland-area swingman Kipper Nichols provide the Fighting Illini with real hope after two consecutive disappointing seasons have left coach John Groce on thin ice.

7) Maryland

2015-16: 27-9 (12-6 Big Ten). Lost 79-63 to Kansas in the Sweet 16.

Key returnees: Melo Trimble, Jared Nickens, Damonte Dodd, Dion Wiley

Key departures: Diamond Stone, Robert Carter, Jake Layman, Rasheed Sulaimon

Why they're here: Trimble's 11th-hour announcement of his return to College Park on Wednesday spared the Terrapins from a rebuilding season. Sans Stone, Carter, and Layman, Maryland will likely become more of a small-ball squad in 2016-17; four-star guards Anthony Cowan and Kevin Huerter enter the fray next year, with Wiley coming back from injury.

6) Ohio State

2015-16: 21-14 (11-7 Big Ten). Lost 74-66 to Florida in the second round of the NIT.

Key returnees: Marc Loving, JaQuan Lyle, Jae-Sean Tate, Keita Bates-Diop, Trevor Thompson, Kam Williams

Key departures: Daniel Giddens, A.J. Harris, Mickey Mitchell

Why they're here: Thad Matta is going to ride or die with his six major returnees over the next two seasons, a group that will be charged with ensuring Ohio State begins to resemble more of the program that averaged nearly 30 wins and a third-place finish in the Big Ten from 2010-15. Keep an eye on the newcomers: JUCO combo guard C.J. Jackson and the three freshmen (Derek Funderburk, Micah Potter, Andre Wesson), as there's a strong possibility that at least two of the newbies will find their way into consistent playing time.

5) Michigan

2015-16: 23-13 (10-8 Big Ten). Lost 70-63 to Notre Dame in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Key returnees: Zak Irvin, Derrick Walton Jr., Duncan Robinson, Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, Mark Donnal

Key departures: Caris LeVert, Ricky Doyle, Aubrey Dawkins, Spike Albrecht, Kameron Chatman

Why they're here: Holy roster turnover, Batman. Since the season ended, the Wolverines have seen Doyle, Dawkins, Chatman, and Albrecht transfer out of the program, thinning out what had the potential to be a very deep team. Much like Ohio State though, Michigan's core (Irvin, Walton Jr., Robinson, Abdur-Rahkman, Donnal) was always going to determine its 2016-17 ceiling. One newcomer to watch is freshman point guard and 2016 Ohio Mr. Basketball Xavier Simpson. As MLive noted in March, the last Mr. Basketball to attend Michigan was former national player of the year Trey Burke.

4) Purdue

2015-16: 26-9 (12-6 Big Ten). Lost 85-83 to Arkansas-Little Rock in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Key returnees: Caleb Swanigan, Vince Edwards, Isaac Haas, P.J. Thompson, Dakota Mathias, Ryan Cline

Key departures: A.J. Hammons, Rapheal Davis, Kendall Stephens, Johnny Hill

Why they're here: With Swanigan and Edwards putting off the NBA and the 7-foot Haas due for more minutes with Hammons out of eligibility, the Boilermakers' strength will remain with its sturdy frontcourt. Purdue also has just enough depth at guard with Thompson, Cline, Mathias, and Michigan transfer Spike Albrecht to remain a fringe Big Ten title contender.

3) Michigan State

2015-16: 29-6 (13-5 Big Ten). Lost 90-81 to Middle Tennessee State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Key returnees: Eron Harris, Gavin Schilling, Lourawls Nairn Jr., Matt McQuaid

Key departures: Denzel Valentine, Bryn Forbes, Matt Costello, Deyonta Davis

Why they're here: Consider the Spartans' ranking an investment in the future, as Tom Izzo will look to mesh veterans like Harris, Schilling, and Nairn Jr. with one of Michigan State's best-ever recruiting classes, a group ranked No. 4 in the country by 247Sports and anchored by five-star wings Miles Bridges and Joshua Langford. Bet on the 2016-17 Spartans returning to the program's defensive roots -- the past two seasons Michigan State has finished outside the top 30 in Ken Pomeroy's defensive efficiency rankings; prior to that the last time the Spartans were outside the top 30 was 2007-08 -- and worrying about replacing nearly 65 percent of the team's scoring later in the season.

2) Indiana

2015-16: 27-8 (15-3 Big Ten). Lost 101-86 to North Carolina in the Sweet 16.

Key returnees: Thomas Bryant, James Blackmon Jr., Robert Johnson, OG Anunoby, Collin Hartman, Juwan Morgan

Key departures: Yogi Ferrell, Troy Williams, Max Bielfeldt, Nick Zeisloft

Why they're here: The return of Blackmon Jr. and Bryant ensures that the Hoosiers will have a chance finishing in the top 10 of KenPom's offensive efficiency rankings for the third year in a row. Blackmon, a junior-to-be guard, missed most of last season with a knee injury and isn't much of a passer at this stage (1.7 career assists per game), but he is an elite shooter from 3 (41 percent). Bryant is a burgeoning paint monster who shot 68 percent from the field a year ago. Lastly, keep a close eye on the development of Anunoby, whose diverse skill set needs only catch up to his spectacular athleticism.

1) Wisconsin

2015-16: 22-13 (12-6 Big Ten). Lost 61-56 to Notre Dame in the Sweet 16.

Key returnees: Nigel Hayes, Bronson Koenig, Ethan Happ, Vitto Brown, Zak Showalter

Key departures: None

Why they're here: The Badgers return every player of note from a squad that finished the regular season by winning 11 of its last 13 games and upsetting second-seeded Xavier in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The return of Hayes -- who has never failed to reach the Sweet 16 in his previous three seasons at Wisconsin -- provides the Badgers with a potent inside-out threat to pair with Koenig's 3-point shooting (39 percent in 2015) and Happ's paint prowess (12.4 points, 7.9 rebounds per game in 2015). Factor in the tranquility provided by athletic director Barry Alvarez's full commitment to coach Greg Gard, and Wisconsin is the team to beat in the Big Ten.

Former Alabama commit Cam Akers cuts his list down to ten.

Akers trims list to 10

The big news on Wednesday came when big-time 2017 Ohio State target and former Alabama commitment Cam Akers released his Top 10 group via Twitter. Ohio State unsurprisingly made the list and now they have an idea of the competition they will have to battle with in order to land the 5 feet 11 inch, 212-pounder. Outside of the Buckeyes, Akers is currently also considering Alabama, Auburn, California, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

Not only was the Top 10 of Akers great news for the Buckeyes, but another big development is that the Clinton, Miss. star will also be making a visit to Columbus to see Ohio State once again next month as he makes a summer visit tour to a handful of programs. We'll see if the Bucks can impress the No. 2 ranked RB in the country and begin distancing themselves from other programs.

Bucks offer two for 2018

Ohio State sent out two new offers yesterday. One recipient of an offer from the Buckeyes was 2018 OT Colten Blanton. The 6 foot 5 inch, 271-pounder is currently graded as a four-star prospect by 247Sports and has earned some impressive offers for this stage of his recruitment. Ohio State joined Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and many more on the offer list of Blanton. It'll be interesting to see if the Bucks can do enough to impress the Cypress Ranch, Texas standout lineman in hopes of pulling him out of the Lonestar state.

The other offer was sent out to 2018 DE Dorian Hardy of St. Joseph Regional, NJ. Much like the aforementioned Blanton, 247Sports currently has Hardy graded out as a four-star recruit and the sixth best weak-side defensive end in the entire class. The Garden State prospect has already secured 22 offers and according to the 247Sports Crystal Ball, it seems to be Nick Saban and Alabama who have the inside trek to land Hardy.

Coaches stop at Fairfield (OH)

According to Fairfield (OH) Head Coach Jason Krause, Ohio State was one of a few schools to stop by on Wednesday. Krause did not clarify which member(s) of the Buckeye coaching staff showed up but it's a safe bet that it was Kerry Coombs, the Ohio State CB coach/Special Teams coordinator.

As for who they were visiting, the two prospects from the program that the Buckeyes have showed plenty of interest in to this point is 2018 OT Jackson Carman and 2018 LB Malik Vann. For now, Carman is the one that has landed an offer from the scarlet and gray and you could certainly consider them one of the teams in great position for his pledge. As for Vann, the Buckeyes haven't offered to this point. However, I would say it will come eventually.

First-team All-Big Ten performers Nick Sergakis, Ronnie Dawson, and Tanner Tully led the Buckeyes to their fourth win over the Wolverines this season.

Just ten days ago, Ohio State finished off a three-game sweep against Michigan. On Wednesday night in the last game of day one of the Big Ten tournament, the Buckeyes used a six-run fifth inning to claim a lead they would not relinquish, defeating the Wolverines for the fourth straight time, 8-3.

On Tuesday, Ohio State's Nick Sergakis, Ronnie Dawson, and Tanner Tully were all named first-team All-Big Ten, and those three players more than backed up those accolades in Omaha against their archrival.

Sergakis had himself a night to remember at TD Ameritrade Stadium, hitting a pair of solo home runs. The Buckeyes' third baseman went 3-for-5, driving in two runs, and scoring two.

Dawson responded as well, with a 3-for-3 night that included an RBI and a run scored.

Tully, the final member of the all-conference trio, did what he's done all season, quietly putting together another quality start and limiting damage in big situations. The lefty from Elkhart, Indiana allowed three runs on seven hits in seven innings of work, striking out three and yielding no walks. It was Tully's sixth consecutive quality start, and 10th of the season overall.

Brett Adcock, who earned second-team All-Big Ten honors for Michigan, lost for the second time to the scarlet and gray. After allowing three runs in 6.2 innings with nine strikeouts in Columbus, the lefty gave up six runs in just four innings on this day, striking out four.

After Sergakis gave the Buckeyes a 1-0 lead with the screaming liner into the bullpen down the left field line in the bottom of the the third, Michigan responded with a two-run homer from Drew Lugbauer for a 2-1 advantage.

Just like they have done throughout the past month, though, the Buckeyes took a punch and fought back. Thanks to the first seven batters of the inning reaching safely and some unraveling from that team up north in the bottom of the fifth, Ohio State put up six runs to reclaim the lead 7-2.

Sergakis led off with his second homer of the night to knot things up 2-2. It was nearly a carbon copy of his smash from the earlier in the game.

After that, Craig Nennig, Dawson, and Troy Kuhn singled consecutively for a 3-2 lead. L. Grant Davis, who entered the game in the third inning when Troy Montgomery was pulled for precautionary reasons due to an apparent ankle injury, followed that with scorcher to right-center for a two-run triple which ended Adcock's night and gave Ohio State a 5-2 advantage.

Mac Lozer came on in relief, and Jacob Bosiokovic kept the line moving with an RBI double, making it 6-2, then came around himself thanks to two straight wild pitches, and it was 7-2 in favor of the Buckeyes.

It was Sergakis and Dawson again that added one to Ohio State's tally in the sixth against William Tribucher. A leadoff single for the former and a double to the left-center gap by the latter extended the lead to 8-2.

The Wolverines got a third run off Tully in the seventh thanks to a double by Harrison Wenson and an RBI groundout by Michael Brdar, but it was far too little, too late.

Senior Michael Horejsei and sophomore Seth Kinker struck out five in the final two innings to nail down the win.

Ohio State will now take on upset-minded Iowa, which knocked off top-seeded Minnesota earlier in the day, at 10:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.

The country's second-ranked running back included Ohio State, as you'd expect considering his multiple visits to Columbus, but there's plenty of intrigue among his other top schools. The Buckeyes – like Michigan – already have two running backs committed.
