Play Game Weekly Upset Contest for 2023, won by CMic

THE BEST CONTEST ON THE INTERNET IS BACK!!!!!

Once again, this will be a simple contest to participate in. Each week I will list all of the underdogs in the Div 1-A games that I see a point-spread for at the beginning of the week. Each person may pick 1 and only 1 team each week; just post your pick in this thread.

You must pick your team before the kickoff of your game. It isn't mandatory to make a pick every week, but if you don't, you obviously can't earn any points that week.

If your team wins, you are awarded the amount of points that they were assigned in the spread; if they lose you get 0 points. So it's riskier to pick Little-Sisters-of-the-Poor +47 when they play Texas Tech, but you get a ton of points if they win, as opposed to getting only a couple of points when you pick a close game.

Once I post the point spreads inside this thread, they are locked for purposes of this contest. Only the spreads listed in this thread will be used to award points.

The entire season-long contest will exist in this one thread. Each week I will post the points for that week and the season-to-date totals. Whoever has the most points after the Conference Championship Games in December will be declared the winner, and will receive ¤25,000 Sportsbook "cash".

There will be a separate contest in December for Bowl game upsets.

Nigel Glover Commits to Ohio State

We just received a commitment from former 2023 class 4* Ohio LB Nigel Glover, who is a likely LB prospect here but is growing into the position physically. He had a rather stranger path in getting here, as he was set to be at NW this year before the Fitzgerald firing. Additionally, OSU never offered him last year but pursued him after Glover entered the portal (presumably partly due to only having one LB commit in the '23 class).

Due to being at the 85 man limit, Glover will grayshirt this year and go onto scholarship in the second semester. He reportedly chose the grayshirt opportunity here over immediate scholarships at Kentucky and ttun. I believe that arrangement is perfect for both sides, as Glover needs a little time to develop physically and absorb our defensive scheme, and we can stay at the 85 man limit.

Didn't see a thread for him, so I wanted to create one and welcome Nigel back to Ohio.

Ohio State announces fall camp viewing period for fans, Q&A with Ryan Day

There's a unique opportunity for Buckeye fans this preseason.

Ohio State fans have plenty of reasons to be excited for the 2023 football season. The Buckeyes once again have one of the most talented rosters in the country and hope to challenge for the Big Ten title and return to the College Football Playoff. Now add another reason for fans to be excited for the preseason.

The Scarlet and Gray announced on Wednesday morning that fans will have the opportunity to watch Ohio State practice during fall camp as a part of the Ohio State Football Kickoff Week. Additionally, fans can also attend a kick off luncheon that will feature Buckeye head coach Ryan Day and members of the Scarlet and Gray staff. Fans will be able to purchase viewing periods for two specific practices during Ohio State's preseason as well as tickets to the luncheon.

For the fans who are interested in attending these practices, the first viewing period will take place during the Buckeyes' first practice of fall camp on Thursday, Aug. 3 followed by another viewing window on Friday, Aug. 4. Five hundred tickets will be released for each practice session with a limit of five tickets per fan. Gates for each practice session will open at 8:30 a.m. ET and practice will begin at approximately 9:15 a.m. ET.

Tickets to attend these practices will be $30 and will include a commemorative 2023 Ohio State training camp hat. These tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 20 and will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Fans can purchase tickets for the practice.

The kick off luncheon will take place on Friday, Aug. 4 from noon-1:30 p.m. ET. Day will speak followed by an in-depth Q&A session with the head coach and the Buckeye assistant coaches. Tables of eight for the luncheon can be purchased for $2,500. Ohio State asks those who are interested to reserve their table by July 28 by visiting the event registration page at https://cbo.io/tickets/osukickoff/tix.
