2021 Ohio Recruits

The following chart shows the top 25 Ohio recruits according to the 247 Composite, and for each recruit gives his 247 Stars, 247 Rating, and 247 Score, which is how many points the recruit would add to a hypothetical class comprised of just the top 25 recruits in Ohio.

The chart also gives the average 247 rating, which is 90.19; and also the overall class score, which is 267.07 and would rank 11th in CFB right behind Oklahoma and just ahead of Miami.

Note that I have not included the #22 recruit in Ohio, WR Armond Scott of Euclid (3*, 87.00 rating), because he did not sign with anyone yet.

Should High School Players Be Paid, Or Allowed To Sell Their Stuff? (NIL)

Mikey Williams signs with Excel Sports for NIL deal expected to 'generate millions' for high school basketball star

Explosive scoring guard Mikey Williams won't be eligible for the NBA draft until 2024 and still has nearly two years to decide on college basketball or a pro pathway.

Yet his massive social media following -- more than 5 million followers across multiple platforms -- has allowed Williams to become the first prep basketball star to sign with a major sports representation agency to pursue NIL endorsements and sponsorships.

Williams, a San Diego native who will attend Lake Norman Christian in Huntersville, North Carolina, and play for Vertical Academy, has signed a deal with Excel Sports management that Excel vice president Matt Davis said he believes "will generate millions of dollars for this young man."

"Mikey's relevance around his peers in the basketball community is off the charts," Davis told ESPN. "He's one of the most relevant personalities in the basketball community. His digital and social following speak for themselves."

Williams is the No. 7 overall prospect in ESPN's top 100 for the class of 2023. His significant prominence among Generation Z has afforded him the chance to be a groundbreaking high school athlete in the NIL marketplace.

"The NIL rules provide a new opportunity for someone like me who that has put in so much energy and effort into building a community," Williams told ESPN in a statement. "I am excited to be the first high school athlete to make this move. I love to hoop and I love engaging with my fans and look forward to continuing to share my journey with everyone."

Just sayin': Two (Travis Branham, 24/7 Sports and Miles Masercola, NC State) of the 3 Crystal Balls already have him just going "professional" with a high (7) confidence.

SG Cedric Russell (Official Thread)

Ohio State basketball lands Louisiana transfer guard Cedric Russell

Ohio State filled a big hole in its roster on Friday with the transfer news of Louisiana guard Cedric Russell. CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein was the first to
report the news.

A fifth-year senior, Russell comes to Columbus to fill the void left by leading scorer Duane Washington’s decision to opt-out of his senior season at Ohio State and keep his name in the 2021 NBA draft.

At 6-foot, 2-inches, and 190-pounds, Russell led the Ragin’ Cajuns in scoring last season, averaging 17.2 points per contest. He was an All-Sun Belt performer that entered his name in the transfer portal on June 30 and chose the Buckeyes over Oklahoma, Marquette, St. John’s, and Texas Tech.

Russell is a scorer first and foremost and can shoot it from deep, nailing 40 percent of his three-point attempts. In other words, he fits the need for scoring from the guard spot, but we’ll have to see how he fits in a Chris Holtmann scheme that likes to distribute the ball to multiple spots on the floor. He averaged just 1.7 assists per contest and 3.2 rebounds in 33.6 minutes of time on the floor.

Things to do in or around Mansfield, OH

My wife's birthday is coming up, and she suggested a little cottage by Mansfield. I've never been to the town, matter of fact neither of us have, but were looking for some interesting things to do and see. As well as a decent restaurant to have dinner. Not looking for anything over the top, as we will be doing a nice dinner for her in Cincinnati before leaving the next day. Plans were to have lunch in Columbus, then go to Mansfield and check in. Put things down and away, and then head out. Fellow BPers, do you have any advice???

NIL Repercussions

I’m sorry if this has been posted anywhere else or if recruiting isn’t the right place to post. But with NIL happening, and states such as California from banning government sponsored travel to the following states, this should kill Recruiting for California schools right?

Texas, Alabama, Idaho, Iowa, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Kentucky, North Carolina, Kansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, North Dakota, West Virginia and Arkansas have all been banned from state sponsored travel bans.

This means California schools wouldn’t be able to have home/homes with Texas, Texas A&M, the Iowa schools, Oklahoma or OK State, Tennessee, UK, UNC, Ole Miss and Miss St, WVU, UF, Miami, FSU and Arkansas as they couldn’t travel to these school. I know there are more but wasn’t worth listing all schools and I listed all SEC cause it just means more to them.

Kids that go to these schools have very limited national exposure for the late star times and the fact they can’t travel to promote their athletes for many of the top programs in the country. Maybe it’s already happening, but coaches in CA should be pissed about these rules for their govt employees

Thread of Metal

Okay, everyone knows about the BIG metal bands. But in here, share some of those that you enjoy that are maybe lesser known, or just your favorites in general…IDGAF

These guys (and gal) have become my favorite over the last year. Looking for a good Ukrainian progressive metalcore band? That still makes KICK ASS music videos? I got your fix…

through relentless touring, a strong social media presence, wildly skilled musicianship and an absolute force of nature vocalist, they’re gaining a bigger following. Seriously, these guys are incredible. Each member is wildly talented, but (for me) the drummer and bassist are next level. And Tatiana, the lead singer, is unreal. Her clean vocals are great, but her growls are…well…unbelievable. It’s hard to believe it’s her, but if you doubt it, simply seek out a live video on YouTube. She’s the real deal.

The musicianship is great, but their songs are quite intriguing lyrically; a lot of it dealing with their war torn homeland. And the diversity in their music is nuts. You’ll find anything ranging from death metal growls to straight thrash, to wild progressive time signatures, to even dabbling in rap and fucking reggae. They’re insane.

Best band in metal today, in my humble opinion, and I get to see them live in Lincoln in November. :banger:

rabbit holes or I need help

On a whim, I decided to take a look at BP's analytics on spyfu.com. Apparently BP's #5 competitor is dannemiller.net, a family blog that was last updated in 2008. It tells the story of Gabby and Scott Dannemiller (AKA Scabby), self described purveyors of peace throughout the free world.

This is Scott
hm_tuscany_scott_icecream.gif

Scott loves church stuff, laughing, making music, taking naps, ice cream, and being a bit obsessive compulsive about personal hygiene.

This is Gabby
hm_tuscany_gab_horse.gif

Fun fact about gabby is that a stick of deodorant lasts her 2-3 years. This made me curious, If Scott is so OCD about personal hygiene how did he wind up with a horsey girl with an aversion to deodorant. Since the last time the blog was updated was 2008 I got worried that Scabby didn't make it. I started digging. I found Gabby's face book and LinkedIn profiles. Good news, they're still together. Scott wrote a book. Gabby is holding down two jobs.

Here's a recent photo of Scabby.

That sure is one ugly sweater.

Apparently Scott gets a little naughty when Gabby is out of town. When she's out of town, Scott doesn't put all of the pillows back on the bed. For reference, here's a picture of their bed.

How many pillows does a bed need?

Is it just me or are these people murdering hookers by the dozen.

2021 Tour de France

Off to a flying start as an ignorant fan caused a major crash by displaying a cardboard sign that extended into the Peloton.

https://olympics.nbcsports.com/2021/06/26/tour-de-france-stage-1-crash-results/

Anxious to see her taken to the guillotine prior to tomorrows start.

And that was not the only major crash.
