The Buckeyes are racking up the visits this week.
Bucks set to host Robinson
It wasn’t long ago that Ohio State held pledges from both 2017 wide receivers
Trevon Grimes and
Tyjon Lindsey while still pursuing another potential member for Zone 6 in
Jaylen Harris. As we all know with recruiting, things can change quickly—and they did. Lindsey, a four-star prospect backed off of his commitment to Ohio State last week only to verbal to Nebraska three days later. Adding Harris then became the key, and luckily for the Buckeyes, he would join the fold shortly after.
So all in all, head coach
Urban Meyer still stands with just two true pass catchers in the class —’17 athlete
Brendon White seems to be transitioning into a WR as well — and it certainly seems like he is hopeful of adding a third true receiver to join
Zach Smith in the WR room. On Wednesday, we learned that Ohio State will get their shot to reel in one of the best players in the country really soon. ‘17 WR
James Robinson from Lakeland (FL) revealed via Twitter that he will be making a stop in Columbus this weekend to visit the Buckeyes. According to Corey Bender of
Scout.com, as expected, the visit will be an official one.
Robinson is much like both Grimes and Harris in terms of size. The four-star prospect stands at 6-foot-3, 196 pounds and is currently graded as the 84th best player in the entire class. The Sunshine State standout also is No. 11 at his position and the No. 18 overall player in the state of Florida.
The Buckeyes originally offered Robinson back in May of 2015. In fact, they were his very first offer, according to
his 247Sports profile. For awhile, it seemed as if the Under Armour All-American was very intrigued with the chance to play in Columbus for Ohio State. Suddenly, things calmed down a bit between the two parties. However, as the Florida Gators currently hold 85 percent of the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, a nice visit is key here if the Buckeyes want any chance to lure the tall receiver out of SEC country.
House visit for Wilson
While some recruits will be coming to OSU for a visit, one recruit got the in home visit treatment. Five-star defensive tackle
Marvin Wilson (Bellaire, TX / Episcopal) was visited by OSU defensive coach Larry Johnson on Wednesday.
Wilson is the No. 1 DT in the 2017 class and the No. 2 player in the state of Texas. The race is on for Wilson’s services, as blue blood programs like Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma have joined Ohio State for the DT’s commitment.
Currently, the 247sports Crystal Ball predictions have Wilson slated for LSU with 65 percent of the vote. There is still time before national signing day for the Bucks to get the Lone Star State recruit to go north for his college football career. As we all know, the recruiting world takes wild turns.
As more news comes of Wilson, we’ll keep you posted here on
Land-Grant Holy Land.
Twitter time
As of late, there has been skepticism across Buckeye Nation in regards to the strength of 2018 quarterback
Emory Jones’ commitment to Ohio State. There were even reports suggesting that the five-star QB would even be taking visits elsewhere despite his pledge to the Buckeyes. Jones’ tweet on Wednesday should definitely calm the nerves of those in Buckeye land.
As a kid I always had dreams about play at tOSU & now that I have that opportunity.. I promise you nobody will take that away from me.

January 18, 2017
Jones, who leads the way for Heard County (GA), is one of the two members currently committed to the Buckeyes’ 2018 class. The 6-foot-1, 193-pounder is the 21st best prospect in his class, the No. 1 dual-threat signal-caller, and the fourth highest graded player from Georgia.
That wasn’t the only tweet on Wednesday that got Buckeye fans giddy. The other came from ‘17 defensive tackle
Marvin Wilson, the nation’s seventh best player in this year’s recruiting cycle. Wilson, who stands at a mammoth 6-foot-4, 329 pounds had this to say yesterday:
Obviously, Wilson is likely referring to ‘17 linenacker
Baron Browning and cornerback
Jeffrey Okudah when he says “my boys”. The three prospects are all from Texas and have been seen multiple times pictured with each other on visits. If Ohio State adds Wilson, which would be a tremendous get; it would give the Buckeyes 4 of the top 5 players in the state of Texas.
Scout releases final rankings
Lastly, on an eventful Wednesday night in the Ohio State recruiting world,
Scout.com revealed their final rankings update for the 2017 class.
Chase Young is the highest ranked Buckeye of the bunch, as he comes in at No. 12. Okudah (No. 16), who we briefly spoke about above and
Wyatt Davis (No. 17) were two others that got Top 20 recognition.
Just outside of the Top 20, you will find Browning (No. 23) and
Tate Martell (No. 27). Martell’s teammate
