Illinois vs. Ohio State, Sunday, Noon, FS1

Great comeback win down 15 in the 1st half down late in the 2nd half and things looking bleak they turn it around to pull it out. Now this sets up the game of the year so far.

Was going to be awfully tough to win at Purdue with Cam going to be that much harder without him.

Season defining game Wednesday as far as a chance to actually win a share of the Big Ten regular season championship or not.
Okay @HenryMuto I cannot take it any longer. The basketball player who plays for the Ohio State Buckeyes is Kam Williams. I have no idea who Cam is but if you are going to try and talk about Ohio State basketball please get familiar with the players' names. This is just not a one time mistake because you have made the same mistake in many of your other "posts".

The Buckeyes next opponent, Purdue, holds at No. 3.

With a clash for first place in the Big Ten on the line this Wednesday against the No. 3 Purdue Boilermakers, the Ohio State Buckeyes (20-5, 11-1) moved up three spots in this week’s AP college basketball poll.

After getting as high as No. 13, the Buckeyes dropped to No. 17 following their buzzer-beater loss to Penn State in January, before edging back up to No. 14 before they travel to West Lafayette, Ind., this week.

The Boilermakers are currently 23-2 overall, with a perfect 12-0 mark in conference. This Wednesday’s game will mark the only regular season matchup between the teams this season.

Also joining the Top 25 ranks from the B1G this week are No. 4 Michigan State (22-3, 10-2) and No. 20 Michigan (19-6, 8-4). Ohio State holds victories over both of those teams already this season.

The Buckeyes and the Boilermakers will tip off at 8:30 p.m. ET on Feb. 7, and the game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.

Schiano has been with the Buckeyes since 2015.

Following the New England Patriots’ loss in the Super Bowl last night to the Philadelphia Eagles, Pats’ defensive coordinator Matt Patricia is reportedly heading to Detroit to become the new Lions’ head coach, and according to Football Scoop’s Zach Barnett, Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano is likely to take Patricia’s place.

Breaking: With Matt Patricia leaving for Detroit, Greg Schiano is expected to become the New England Patriots' defensive coordinator https://t.co/Wm4mZhKgAq

— Zach Barnett (@zach_barnett) February 5, 2018

Following two seasons at Ohio State, Schiano originally accepted the head coaching position at the University of Tennessee, before that job offer was unceremoniously pulled after misguided fan outrage. Before coming to Ohio State, Schiano spent two seasons as the head coach of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also spent time on the staff of the Chicago Bears from 1996-98.

Last month, OSU head coach Urban Meyer hired Washington State defensive coordinator Alex Grinch to a still yet-to-be-announced defensive coaching position, which will now likely be at least a co-coordinator position.

Following the loss of defensive backs coach Kerry Coombs to the staff of the Tennessee Titans, should Schiano head to New England, Meyer will need to hire two new assistants.

The Buckeyes are putting the finishing touches on their 2018 recruiting class, while also sending out offers to 2019 and 2020 prospects.

With just days remaining before National Signing Day, the Ohio State Buckeyes football program welcomed in a handful of recruits over this past weekend. One of them being five-star 2018 offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere out of Tampa, Fla.

In recent weeks, Petit-Frere took visits to Alabama and Florida, while also entertaining offers from Notre Dame, Michigan, Auburn, Georgia and more.

Petit-Frere is the top offensive lineman in this year’s recruiting class, and the seventh ranked player in the country—and it appears that his decision will come down to OSU, Notre Dame and Florida. The stud lineman will make his announcement in a ceremony at his high school, Berkeley Prep, at 10 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

The Buckeyes were also slated to host 2018 Dayton three-star running back and former Oklahoma pledge Tavion Thomas over the weekend, but according to reports, that trip didn’t take place. The 18th RB nationally, and the 13th player from Ohio in this recruiting cycle, Thomas released his final four on Sunday and is apparently considering Oklahoma, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Cincinnati, with UC and head coach Luke Fickell leading the way.

While Urban Meyer and his staff are looking to put the finishing touches on the 2018 class, they were also keeping an eye on next year’s class as well. Over the weekend, OSU welcomed in four-star defensive backs Ronnie Hickman and Cam’Ron Kelly.

Hickman is the second-rated player from New Jersey, and Kelly is the sixth rated player from Virginia. Hickman, who is also classified as an athlete, is the No. 107 player in his class, according to 247 Sports, while Kelly is No. 180.

Buckeyes dish out 5 scholarship offers

If you’ve been following Ohio State football recruiting closely, then you probably know that Urban Meyer and his staff have been putting in work on the recruiting trail.

Recently handing out a long list of scholarships offers to underclassmen across the country, Meyer and crew didn’t switch things up over the weekend.

Offering five top prospects, the following recruits earned a chance to rock the Scarlet and Gray on the college level:

Quick Hits

  • Urban Meyer made the trek out to Bishop Hendricken in Warwick, Rhode Island on Friday to mingle with four-star class of 2019 offensive tackle Xavier Truss. A massive prospect at 6-foot-7 and well over 300 pounds, Truss has picked up offers from not just Ohio State, but also programs such as Virginia Tech, Florida State, Florida and Oklahoma this winter.
  • Before their game with Illinois on Sunday, the basketball Buckeyes offered 2019 Paul VI Catholic (VA) four-star combo guard Anthony Harris a scholarship to attend Ohio State. Receiving his offer from OSU during his unofficial visit to campus, Harris adds his opportunity with the Buckeyes alongside college options like Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and UCF to name a few off his growing list of potential landing spots.
  • Like Harris, Chris Holtmann and the Ohio State coaching staff also handed out a scholarship offer to four-star class of 2019 shooting guard David Johnson while he was on campus for the Buckeyes come from behind win. A Louisville native, Johnson was previously verbally committed to his hometown Cardinals before opening his recruitment backup in October.
