With exhibition games getting underway on BTN+ and the 2019-20 Big Ten basketball season officially tipping off on Nov. 5, BTN today announced its on-air talent for an enticing lineup of 200 men’s and women’s games. Random observations from continuing to watch recorded games from Saturday:

In between the first 12:45 and the last 12:45 at Kansas State, the Sooners were outscored 41-6. Jalen Hurts' only TD pass was thrown behind the line of scrimmage to Ceedee Lamb, who made 6 guys miss on a 70-yard TD.

In the Miami-Pitt game, the Canes has a short goal-line situation. When their center adjusted the ball prior to the snap, half of it was over the goal line (I don't recall ever seeing it that blatant). Refs did nothing, the snap was fumbled, but Cryami recovered and scored a TD right after that.

Note to football announcers: Once again, the ground caused a fumble on a TCU kickoff return that was recovered by Texas. Replay correctly confirmed the call.

When I compare the two games, Ohio State's domination of Wisconsin in lousy weather is far more impressive than LSU's win against Auburn. Auburn did not impress me on defense. I realize that the announcers kept talking their defense up, but I think that Ohio State or Wisky could turn LSU into a one-dimensional passing attack and shut it down. My 2 cents. Ohio State should be #1.

The Miami Hurricanes beat writer posted Thursday what will undoubtedly be the video of the day, perhaps the year: UM head coach Mark Richt, then a Hurricanes quarterback, appearing very briefly in a 1982 television commercial for the Italian brand “Jesus jeans.”

While his appearance is brief — it begins around the :07 mark — Richt’s on-air time, replete with the mop-haired coach jumping rope in said jeans, will leave an indelible and lasting impression. And, perhaps, the occasional night terror.
