NCAA punishes USC - Reggie Bush, OJ Mayo, Dwayne Jarrett, Joe McKnight investigation

Upon a brief review of the case, the guy who gave Bush almost $300k in benefits cooperated with the NCAA in the investigation—I’d be really curious to see some additional details on how it was a sham when the guy with the receipts ratted him out.

Also, isn’t him bringing this up now under the guise of revisiting the new NIL rules admitting he was paid?

So which is it? Was it a sham investigation? Or should you get your award back because it’s okay for college athletes to be paid now?

In summation, fuck off with this shit, Reggie.

2021 Ohio Recruits

Finally, here is a chart showing how each team fared in Ohio compared to the rest of that team's class. I have analyzed only teams that had a top-50 recruiting class and signed at least 3 players from Ohio.

The chart shows (in order): Total class size; Ohio signees; percentage of Ohio signees in class; overall class score; score of Ohio signees in class; percentage of class score from Ohio signees; differential between percentage of Ohio signees in class and percentage of class score from Ohio signees (a metric to determine how valuable the Ohio signees were to the overall class); average rating per signee in class; average rating per Ohio signee in class; differential between average rating per signee in class and average rating per Ohio signee in class (another metric to determine how valuable the Ohio signees were to the overall class).

Ohio State's class had 22 signees, with 6 being from Ohio (27.3%).

Ohio State's overall class score was 316.01, with 84.79 of those points coming from Ohio signees (26.8%). So by that metric, Ohio State slightly underperformed in Ohio by 0.5 (27.3% Ohio signees - 26.8% Ohio score = -0.5)

However, Ohio State's average per recruit was 94.76, while the average per Ohio recruit was 95.36. So by that metric, Ohio State overperformed in Ohio by 0.6.

It is interesting to note that Cincinnati had 3 more Ohio signees than Ohio State, yet Ohio State's 6 signees accounted for 22.2 more class points than Cincinnati's 9 signees (84.79 - 62.59 = 22.2). Cincinnati signed a lot of players from Ohio but did not get much value from those signees.

NBC Sports Network

NBC Sports Network to shut down by the end of the year
January 22, 2021
That programming shift to USA Network, another NBCUniversal-owned cable channel, includes the National Hockey League and NASCAR races.
NBCUniversal's new streaming service Peacock will also carry some of the programming that was on NBC Sports Network starting in 2022.

USA Network is arguably one of the most popular channels in NBCUniversal's lineup, and adding live sports -- some of the most vital and highly rated programming left on traditional TV -- is likely to make USA even stronger.

Cable companies have been under strain as consumers "cut the cord," choosing instead to pay for streaming services like Netflix (NFLX) rather than paying a cable bill.

Enter Peacock. The new streaming service is the focal point of NBCUniversal's future business strategy, so having more live sports on the service provides consumers more incentives to sign up. Peacock already airs many Premier League soccer games.

2023 CA DB Jshawn Frausto-Ramos (Stanford Verbal)

Visiting for the Oregon game

It’s not often four players from one high school receive an offer from one school on the same day.

It’s even less likely all of them are in the same position group.

But that’s exactly what happened on June 17 for cornerback Jshawn Frausto-Ramos and three of his defensive back teammates at St. John Bosco (Bellflower, California), RJ Jones, Peyton Woodyard and Marcelles Williams. Jones and Frausto-Ramos, both four-star prospects in the class of 2023, and 2024 prospects Woodyard and Williams all received offers from Ohio State that day after participating in a camp at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center one day earlier.

“Just knowing there’s a possibility of playing with them for more years, that’s big,” Frausto-Ramos said. “I’ve always played with RJ Jones since my Pop Warner days. I’ve known the others since the sixth and seventh grade. Just keeping that brotherhood would be really cool.”

Frausto-Ramos, the 246th-best player nationally and the 26th-best cornerback in 2023 according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, told Eleven Warriors he enjoyed his trip to Columbus to camp with the Buckeyes. He impressed OSU secondary coach Matt Barnes with his skill and one-on-one drills.

“(Barnes) really liked the way I was coming out of my breaks,” Frausto-Ramos said. “He was really impressed by that. The most important thing was we did one-on-ones and I feel like I did really well in those. I think I showed out and stood out compared to those other players. He feels like I have the opportunity to play at this level and that really meant a lot to me.”

“I don’t really have a top list, I’m keeping my options open,” Frausto-Ramos said. “By the end of my junior year I’ll start cutting down and start talking about what schools are in the lead. Each school has a reason as to why I might go there.”
