The Buckeyes played host to more than the Wolverines on Saturday.

More than 100,000 screaming fans packed into Ohio State on Saturday afternoon to watch Ohio State mix it up with arch-rival Michigan. Among those in attendance were a large list of nationally ranked high school prospects. Playing host to more than the Wolverines, Urban Meyer and the Ohio State coaching staff had their handS full with well over 50 recruits from across the country on campus for the game.

Having a chance to not just take a tour of the beautiful state-of-the-art facilities Ohio State has to offer and mingle with the staff, the prospects also had the opportunity to watch one of the best college football games of the season.

Taking in the Buckeyes double overtime win over that team from up north, many of the recruits took to social media to share their excitement of their visit to Ohio State.

Want to know what the recruits thought of the Buckeyes come from behind victory and overall time in Columbus? Land-Grant Holy Land has your back:

The Buckeyes were no match for the Bears in the championship game of the Gulf Coast Showcase on Sunday night.

In a matchup of two teams believed to be serious national title contenders, the Ohio State women’s basketball team lost to Baylor, 85-68, in the championship game of the Gulf Coast Showcase tournament in Estero, Florida on Sunday night.

The Buckeyes struggled mightily from the floor, shooting just 21-for-61 (34.4 percent) for the game, and having no answer for the Bears’ superior size. Head coach Kevin McGuff’s squad was outrebounded 52-29 and outscored 48-26 in the paint over 40 minutes of play.

Five Baylor players scored in double figures, led by Alexis Jones’ 20 and Beatrice Mompremier’s double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds. The Bears improved their record to 7-1 thus far.

All-American Kelsey Mitchell scored 17 points, but hit just 5-for-20 from the floor and 1-for-6 from beyond the three-point arc. Sierra Calhoun added 12, while Shayla Cooper and Kiara Lewis had 11 apiece, as the team fell to 5-2 on the young season.

Ohio State was forced to call a timeout less one minute into the ballgame as Baylor sprinted out to a 6-0 lead. The lead was extended to 9-0 before Calhoun knocked down a three-pointer to get the Buckeyes on the board. Mompremier was having her way in the paint for the Bears, scoring seven first quarter points.

The scarlet and gray shot a woeful 6-for-19 (31.6 percent) in the first ten minutes, but fought back to within four points at 19-15 by the end of the quarter. Calhoun scored five and Mitchell four in the frame.

Baylor opened the second quarter with a 10-2 run to push the lead out to 29-17, as Ohio State once again came out cold. Jones scored nine in the frame overall and led all scorers with 12 at the intermission.

The Buckeyes went through a field goal drought that lasted the final 5:42 of first half, missing their final nine attempts, and went into the locker room trailing 38-25. Mitchell was just 2-for-12 from the floor, and failed to make any of her four three-point attempts, as the team was held to 10-for-36 (27.8 percent) shooting.

Cooper started the second half by scoring seven straight points for Ohio State, trying to will the team back into the game, and Mitchell got a quick four of her own to trim the deficit to 45-36 at the third quarter’s midway point.

The referees started calling the game much more closely in the third quarter, and the two sides combined to shoot 31 free throws in the frame. Baylor’s size and balanced attack made the Buckeyes’ hopes of comeback difficult, as Jones, Mompremier, and Brown combined to maintain a strong 62-46 lead headed to the final ten minutes.

The fourth quarter was more of the same, with the Bears shooting 8-for-13 (61.5 percent) from the floor and widening their lead even further. Mitchell fouled out with a little over four minutes remaining in the game.

The schedule doesn’t let up for Ohio State, as it will host No. 21 Miami on Thursday evening in Columbus as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.

Which future Buckeye will grab your vote this time?

Guess what? Tate Martell won another Land-Grant Holy Land MVP of the week award.

At what shouldn’t come to much of a surprise, the four-star quarterback once again picked up enough of your votes to walk away with the player of the week over a talented group of future Buckeyes.

Locking in 48% of your votes, Martell held off Ohio State commits Brendon White (17%), Shaun Wade (15%), Wyatt Davis (13%), and Marcus Williamson (8%) to be named MVP.

Which future Buckeye did enough to grab your vote this week? The poll is open. Let your voice be heard:

Here are your MVP nominees:

Tate Martell

The U.S. Army All-American led his Bishop Gorman (NV) squad to another runaway victory on Saturday night.

Dominating Arbor View (NV) from the kickoff, Martell and Gaels rolled to an easy 56-17 win. Completing 12 of 23 passing attempts, the soon-to-be Buckeye signal caller accounted for 268 yards and five touchdowns to send Bishop Gorman to the state title game.

Haskell Garrett

Garrett didn’t score five touchdowns on Saturday like Martell, but still made his presence felt against Arbor View.

Fighting off double teams and whatnot all evening, the defensive tackle ended the game with four total tackles.

Brendon White

White and Olentangy Liberty played a solid game, but came up short, falling to Cleveland St. Ignatius, 24-14.

In what ended up being his last game in a Patriot uniform, White was one of the bright spots for Onlentangy Liberty all evening. Lining up at a number of different positions on the field, the four-star standout finished with four receptions for 64 yards, rushed for 47 yards, and passed for 92 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

Wyatt Davis

Davis and St. John Bosco (CA) earned their victory on Friday. In what was a back and fourth ball game against Centennial (CA), the Braves defeated the Huskies, 49-47 to earn a chance at another state title.

The five-star prospect and the rest of the St. John Bosco offensive line played a massive part in the win, blocking the Braves to over 560 yards through the air and on the ground.

Shaun Wade

Trinity Christian (FL) cruised to an easy 41-9 win over Berkeley Prep (FL) on Friday. Seeing time on offense and defense wade caught a 10 yard pass and snatched up two total tackles in the route of the Buccaneers.

To the victors go the spoils

We’re a day out from Ohio State’s thrilling comeback over Michigan to win The Game, 30-27, but the bellyaching hasn’t stopped. Michigan’s coached complained. Some of Michigan’s players have complained. And assuredly, Michigan fans are still complaining about the officiating. That will probably keep going for a while, to be honest.

Luckily, your friends here at Land-Grant Holy Land have come up with the ultimate way for you to remind our Michigan friends that Ohio State won, fair and square, and actually, the critical officiating decision was just fine. With this new shirt!

We’ve partnered with our friends at Breaking-T to make this new “Actually, the spot was good” t-shirt. You can pick up your own right here, and if you buy it on today or Monday, they’ll knock off 20%.
