NEW YORK, NY – MAY 04: Ryan Dzingel #18 of the Ottawa Senators skates against the New York Rangers in Game Four of the Eastern Conference Second Round during the 2017 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Madison Square Garden on May 4, 2017 in New York City. The Rangers defeated the Senators 4-1. (Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images)

The Senators have re-signed their last remaining free agent, agreeing to terms with forward Ryan Dzingel on a two-year contract.

Tim Wharnsby broke the news on Twitter and reported that the Senators avoided arbitration with Dzingel and settled on a two-year deal that carries an average annual value of $1.8-million.

Ryan Dzingel (OTT) has settled:

2017-18: $1.5m
2018-19: $2.1 m

— Tim Wharnsby (@TimWharnsby) July 21, 2017

Keep in mind that Dzingel filed for $1.95-million while the Senators made a corresponding file with the arbitrator for $1.0-million.

I’m a little surprised that the Senators settled on a deal where the average annual value is closer to Dzingel’s original ask than their own, especially since Dzingel has relatively little NHL experience.

By NHL standards, he’s not really that young of a player however – which admittedly feels weird to write considering he’s just 25 years old — but as an NCAA product who spent three seasons playing for Ohio State, Dzingel turned professional at an older age than his Canadian Hockey League counterparts.

Since evidence shows that a modern player’s prime is typically between 22 and 27 years of age, Dzingel fits right into that range.

Because of his lack of NHL experience, there’s hope that there’s still room for growth in his game because he’s now adjusted and can enjoy the comfort and security that comes with a multi-year, one-way contract.

He started the 2016-17 campaign on fire, scoring four goals and seven points in his first seven games.

He wound up finishing the season scoring ten more goals and 25 points in his next 74 games, but there is a lot to like about Dzingel’s game.

In a way, he reminds me of Carl Hagelin.

He has never been much of a volume shooter, but historically he’s a speedster who scores on a high percentage of shots.

In 119 AHL games spread across three seasons, Dzingel scored 31 goals on 231 shots on goal for a 13.65-percent success rate and at the NHL level, he’s a career 11.6-percent shooter. It’s also worth noting that his production has improved with each passing year at every level that he has played at.

And relative to his ice time, he’s one of the most productive players on the team. Only Mark Stone, Mike Hoffman and Kyle Turris had higher points per 60 minutes of five-on-five ice time than Dzingel’s 1.66.

Dzingel added some versatility playing up and down the Senators’ lineup, but it’s hard to ignore the fact that his production playing away from his most consistent centre Kyle Turris.

With numbers from HockeyAnalysis.com, here is a table depicting how Dzingel fared at five-on-five playing with and without Turris:

5v5
TOI
G/60
Pts/60

With Kyle Turris
579:26

0.51
1.55

Without Kyle Turris
429:58

0.97
1.84

It’s hard to pinpoint why there were struggles with Turris. I suppose it’s possible that as Dzingel ascended the lineup when injuries beset the club, the combination of regression and tougher matchups may have harmed him. (For what it’s worth, Dzingel had excellent numbers alongside Derick Brassard, who had some of the best underlying numbers on the team.)

Considering his second most frequent linemate was Bobby Ryan, who struggled mightily throughout the 2016-17 regular season before catching fire in the playoffs, perhaps Ryan’s struggles may have negatively impacted the line as a whole.

Whatever the case, rolling the dice on Dzingel for another two years at that AAV isn’t exactly a high risk play.

On a team that generally lacks speed, Dzingel provides it in spades and if he can get more comfortable and find another level of production, there’s a great chance that this contract will be a bargain.

Previewing the Black Knights’ season on our latest podcast

Here are some things that happened the last time Army won the Commander-In-Chief’s trophy in 1996:

  • The Nintendo 64 gaming system releases to worldwide acclaim (and is still better than all current gen systems, don’t @ me).
  • Tupac Shakur drops his All Eyez on Me double-disc album, eventually receiving diamond certification from the RIAA.
  • The network TV show Friends is in Year 2 of it’s 10 year run of actually being bad.
  • One of the greatest Ohio State teams of all-time inexplicably falls to a three loss-Michigan team at home for the seventh time in nine years, costing itself a chance at the national championship.

Needless to say, a lot has changed since then. Gaming systems no longer need cartridges, CD’s are barely even in existence, most popular TV shows are now streamed, and Ohio State hasn’t lost to Michigan in nearly six years. One thing that hasn’t changed is Army football’s struggle to find solid ground.

After the Black Knights’ 10-win 1996 season, the program cratered, going 57-167 from 1997-2015, making one bowl (2010) and notching only two wins over Navy (1998, 2001). Five Army head coaches were fired within that span, and the prospects didn’t look great for third-year Head Coach Jeff Monken in 2016, until everything clicked.

The 2016 Black Knights won their most games in a season (8) since 1996, went to —and won— a bowl game for the first time in six years, and beat Navy for the first time in 15 seasons. Alas, the elusive Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy went to Air Force.

On this episode of The Hangout in the Holyland, Colton Denning chats with Army beat writer Sal Interdonato about the 2017 Black Knights, why they’ll finally win the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy, and previews their Week 3 matchup with Ohio State.

Sal breaks down who Buckeyes’ fans should look out for in Army’s triple option attack, how Monken has changed the program’s offseason conditioning regimen, whether the Black Knights’ can field another top defense in 2017, why a nine win season is on the table, and more!

(Make sure to visit Sal’s Army Football Insider blog leading up to the game to keep up with everything happening with the Black Knights this season)

Don’t miss where your favorite Buckeye lands this offseason.

The 2016 NFL season was huge for former Ohio State stars, with the league featuring up to 53 Buckeyes at any given time. Throughout the year, players were released, traded and injured — A.J. Hawk even unofficially retired -- all while the rookie class broke franchise and league records and earned postseason honors.

Now that the season is over, moves are being made. Those players that were released are hoping for a chance with a new team, and others could be subject to trade. There are plenty of Buckeyes who are looking for new contracts during free agency.

This is also the last chance for several prominent Buckeyes to snag a roster spot before having to accept their career ended early. Players like Boom Herron and DeVier Posey have bounced from team-to-team during their time in the league, and others like Nick Mangold and Mike Nugent might consider filing retirement papers should interest from teams be lower than expected.

Here at Land-Grant Holy Land, we’ll keep you updated on all the latest moves:

The Buckeye camp has an impressive attendee list and will hopefully result in a few commitments too.

The annual Friday Night Lights extravaganza is now just hours away and Ohio State is set to host a spectacular list of recruits in an event that has been tremendously successful for the Buckeyes. In the past, FNL has featured many current Ohio State players like Jerome Baker, Jamarco Jones, Tyquan Lewis, and Billy Price. Some Buckeye alums that are living their dreams at the next level have also appeared, including Joey Bosa, Marshon Lattimore, Raekwon McMillan, and Curtis Samuel.

Friday Night Lights has also been used as a special platform for a few prospects to make their commitment to the Scarlet and Gray. The most notable being four-star tight end Luke Farrell back in 2015 and five-star defensive end Chase Young at last years event. The opportunity is here for Ohio State to open the eyes of some of the nations bests prospects. Let’s take a look at who is expected to be in attendance tonight.

Class of 2018

While the Buckeyes are hoping guys like offensive tackle Jack Carman and defensive end Micah Parsons show face, one name that will definitely be inside Ohio Stadium later today is defensive tackle Tommy Togiai of Highland (ID), according to Bill Kurelic of 247Sports.com. The 6-3, 290-pounder will give defensive line coach Larry Johnson an opportunity to get a first person view at what he can bring to the table. Togiai is currently graded as the ninth best defensive tackle in the country and stands at 115th in the overall rankings. The visit for the four-star prospect will give him his first look at what Ohio State has to offer.

Sticking to the defensive side of the ball, the 247Sports Crystal Ball suggests that the Buckeyes are running second to Penn State in the race for defensive end Jayson Oweh. However, Ohio State will have a chance later today to surge to the top. Oweh, a four-star prospect and Top 200 player nationally, is fresh off of a visit to Notre Dame before his expected arrival to the 614. With a decision likely coming sooner rather than later, this is a major visit for the Buckeyes and the Blair Academy (NJ) standout.

Close to two weeks ago, linebacker Christopher Oats of Winton Woods (OH) tweeted that he would be at Friday Night Lights. I checked with a source close to the situation Tuesday afternoon to make sure nothing had changed since then and it hasn't. My understanding is that Oats, who is a Top 20 outside linebacker in the class, is just waiting for the green light from the Ohio State coaching staff. I strongly believe that he wants to be a Buckeye. The thing is, I don't expect that green light to come until one other specific domino falls. But we will see if a good outing in front of the coaching staff can prove otherwise.

As for the current Buckeye commits, a sizable amount of them will be on handlater today. Safety Josh Proctor, safety Jaiden Woodbey and offensive tackle Max Wray confirmed to Land-Grant Holy Land that they would be in attendance but will not participate in the event. Defensive end Brenton Cox, quarterback Emory Jones, tight end Jeremy Ruckert, and running back Brian Snead, who arrived Thursday morning, revealed on their respective Twitter accounts that they would also be in the building tonight. Linebacker Dallas Gant, athlete Jaelen Gill, and running back Master Teague are also amongst the group of Buckeye pledges expected to attend.

Others 2018’s expected:

  • Donald Johnson | CB | North Central (IN) | ✩✩✩✩
  • John Holcombe | QB | Summer Creek (TX) | ✩✩✩
  • Jornell Manns | WR | Mansfield (OH) | Minnesota commit | ✩✩✩
Class of 2019

According to Jeremy Birmingham of Landof10.com, defensive end Zach Harrison from Olentangy Orange (OH) will be making the brief drive to Columbus to take in the event. Any time you can get a five-star prospect from your own state on campus, you will gladly take it. Harrison is currently the eighth highest graded player in his class and the No. 1 player in the state. The visit to Ohio State will be the first for Harrison since April.

Another big name that will for sure be in The 'Shoe tonight is Belleville (MI) offensive tackle Devontae Dobbs. The Great Lake prospect is the top offensive tackle and the best player in the state of Michigan, which surely makes the visit that much more sweet for the Buckeyes. It will be interesting to see if Ohio State can do enough to impress the five-star talent. It will also be intriguing to see if they can ultimately reel in the gifted tackle from enemy territory ala Michael Jordan back in the 2016 cycle.

One specific name that everyone should have their eyes on today is offensive tackle Doug Nester. The 6-foot-5, 295-pounder from Spring Valley (WV) named his Top 5 last month that included Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia. With that being said, there is a palpable buzz that Nester may end this thing soon. The Buckeyes and offensive line coach Greg Studrawa have done a great job in this recruitment. I would expect Nester to be the first commit for the 2019 class by the conclusion of tonight and it would be an extraordinary start seeing that the Huntington native is a five-star and the third best offensive tackle in the class.

A contingent of Trinity Catholic (MO) studs will be present tonight as well as athlete Isaiah Williams will be joined by wide receiver Marcus Washington and outside linebacker Shammond Cooper. All three are listed as four-star prospects and all have already received offers from the Scarlet and Gray.

Heading over from Indiana is high four-star wide receiver David Bell of Warren Central High School. Ohio State has yet to offer the talented pass-catcher, who will be making his third stop to campus, but the opportunity to impress wide receiver coach Zach Smith and Urban Meyer has presented itself and I expect Bell to ultimately earn that offer. Despite no offer for the time being, the Buckeyes are still the leader on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for the states top prospect just ahead of Notre Dame.

Since offering linebacker Shane Lee of St. Frances Academy (MD) back in February, Ohio State will get another shot to impress the Top 100 prospect. Lee has over a dozen offers from programs like Clemson, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, and more. The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder out of Baltimore currently grasps a four-star rating while being penciled in as the third best inside linebacker and the very best player in Maryland.

Other 2019’s expected:

  • Julian Barnett | CB | Belleville (MI) | ✩✩✩✩
  • Kenny McIntosh | ATH | University School (FL) | ✩✩✩✩ | Has Ohio State offer
  • DeMarcco Hellams | WR | DeMatha Catholic (MD) | ✩✩✩✩
  • Beau Robbins | DE | Carmel (IN) | ✩✩✩✩
  • Dwan Mathis | QB | Oak Park (MI) | ✩✩✩
  • Xavier Goldsmith | CB | Cass Technical (MI) | ✩✩
  • John Branham Jr. | RB | Northland (OH)
  • Justin Britt | Defensive Tackle | Warren Central (IN)
  • Dezman Cooper | OLB | Reynoldsberg (OH)
  • Zeke Correll | OG | Anderson (OH) | Has Ohio State offer
  • Isaiah Gibson | DT | Springfield (OH)
  • Art Herndon | CB | St. Joseph (MI)
  • Dontay Hunter | DE | St. Francis De Sales (OH)
  • Jaren Mangham | RB | Cass Technical (MI)
Other notable names

  • Kalil Branham | ATH | Northland (OH) | 2020
  • Michael Drennen II | ATH | Dublin Coffman (OH) | 2020
  • Darvon Hubbard | RB | Buchtel (OH) | 2020
  • Jake Wray | OT | Franklin (TN) | 2020 | Has Ohio State offer

Continue to keep it locked with Land-Grant Holy Land throughout the day as new names come about or if current expected visitors have a change of plans. Any fresh developments regarding tonight's guests will be posted in the comments section below as well as modified in this post.

The Buckeyes are ready to host a huge list of prized recruits.

With today marking less than a week until the opening of Ohio State’s fall camp and tonight the headline event of Buckeye football recruiting with Friday Night Lights, there is zero rest for the football staff. As a celebrity style list of prized prospects head to Columbus, Ohio, Urban Meyer and his gang look to flex their recruiting muscles as they show off every aspect they have to offer. With the success Friday Night Lights has brought each year, there would be little to no surprise at all if a commitment, or two, were to happen.

Bucks to host 2019 star LB

It’s no secret at all that the main priority for the football staff is securing the best 2018 class they can, but make no mistake about it, this staff is looking toward 2019 with attention as well. With how successful 2018’s class already is, it’s important to keep this momentum rolling.

Yesterday, Land-Grant Holy Land was able to confirm it to be true when 2019 linebacker Shane Lee (Baltimore, MD/ St. Frances Academy) let us know that he would in fact make it to Columbus for the infamous Friday Night Lights camp. Not originally on the attendance list, this addition is full of star power as the 2019 prospect is considered to be the third best inside linebacker in the country and the second best prospect in the entire state of Maryland.

The 6-foot, 240-pound force already has nearly 15 offers. With schools such as Clemson, Florida State, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Penn State and Ohio State among others knocking at the door for his services, the early leader, however, is thought to be the Nittany Lions of Penn State. Fortunately, the Buckeyes have been able to call their shot at the linebacker position over the past few recruiting cycles and if they want Lee bad enough, this visit may just start to get the ball rolling.

Michigan’s strong presence in Columbus is okay

Normally, Ohio State fans want little to nothing to do when it comes to their rivals to the north. However, in recruiting, one of the sweetest battles won is going into rival territory and stealing a prized recruit from under their nose.

Of the many Michigan-natives on hand tonight, Land-Grant Holy Land was able to get the inside scoop of 2019 defensive back Art Herndon III (St. Joseph, MI/ St. Joseph) and his latest feeling about Ohio State.

“I’m excited about the competition that I’ll be facing at FNL,” Herndon said of the event. “I’ll be up against some of the top guys in the country and I could really solidify my name as one of the top corners in Michigan and possibly the country.”

St Joseph 2019 DB Arthur Herndon III will attend #OhioState FNL camp and visit this weekend. Strong camp season has him on several radars! pic.twitter.com/JklD7N5Jiv

— Coach Malone (@Orlando_Malone) July 20, 2017

While coach Kerry Coombs was taking the lead on Herndon’s recruitment, the communication lines haven’t been active recently.

“Coach Coombs and I have talked a couple of times since my visit this past spring, but since then we haven’t had much contact,” Herndon said.

Easily a top corner in the class of 2019, many of the reasonings behind the quietness between the two parties is strictly the focus on the 2018 class. However, with Herndon already visiting Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Michigan State, it’s easy to see why he will be a serious priority in the years to come. Fortunately, having Herndon back on campus with his father bodes well for Ohio State and continuing to build a strong relationship.

What’s the scoop here?

Yesterday, there was a bit of confusion regarding a top prospect who will be in Columbus for the day. Originally thought to be camping at the headliner recruiting event of the year, 2018 five-star defensive end KJ Henry (Clemmons, NC/West Forsyth) was in Columbus to check out Ohio State on an unofficial visit, but the real reason for him being in the Buckeye State is because of a 7-on-7 with his high school football team.

— K5 (@thekjhenry_) July 20, 2017

Five-star DE KJ Henry at Ohio State for the day, says he won't be there for FNL https://t.co/TwAtOawHZs

— Tom VanHaaren (@TomVH) July 20, 2017

The 6-foot-6, 235-pound weak-side defensive end is currently listed as the second best prospect at his position and also the second best player in all of North Carolina for the 2018 recruiting cycle. With nearly 30 offers, it seems just about every top program in the country has their eye on Henry, but Clemson is thought to be the clear cut leader in this recruitment. While Henry is not camping this evening, he saw what the campus has to offer, but unless something drastically changes, with Ohio State’s already loaded 2018 defensive line and their expectations to land one or two more close related guys, there may not be anything too serious to see with this unofficial visit.

However, in recruiting, never underestimate Urban Meyer and Ohio State.

Quick Hits:

  • 2019 4-star RB Kenny McIntosh (Ft. Lauderdale, FL/University School) is a late addition to the FNL Camp this evening.
  • 2019 4-star WR DeMarrco Hellams (Hyattsville, MD/DeMatha Catholic) got into Columbus yesterday for FNL.
  • Serious Buckeye lean, 2019 offensive guard, Zeke Correll (Cincinnati, OH/Anderson) makes the short trek to Columbus today. Could he be on commitment watch?

We may get to see two rounds of Buckeyes-Hoosiers this season.

While Ohio State basketball is still filling the open spots on the team, their Big Ten conference mirror contests—also known as the home-and-home contests—for the upcoming season were reported by Jon Rothstein.

Sources: Ohio State's mirror Big Ten opponents for 17-18 will be Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Penn State, and Rutgers.

— Jon Rothstein (@JonRothstein) July 20, 2017

Archie Miller, who was a fan favorite to take over the Buckeye basketball program after Thad Matta, took the Indiana job before Matta was relieved of his duties at OSU. Miller was the coach of the Dayton Flyers when they went on their Elite Eight run a few seasons ago, a run that included toppling an Aaron Craft-led Ohio State squad in the first weekend of the tournament.

The Buckeyes look to get redemption against the Hoosiers, who defeated the Buckeyes, 96-92, last season at Value City Arena on Senior Day.

Redemption will also be the name of the game with Rutgers and Iowa, as the Scarlet Knights defeated the Buckeyes in the first round of the Big Ten tournament, and the Hawkeyes defeated the Buckeyes midway through the conference slate.

On a better note, the Buckeyes could continue their winning ways against Michigan and Penn State, teams they defeated on the road last season. OSU toppled the Wolverines by four, and brought down the Nittany Lions on a last-second layup.

If these mirror contests hold up, then Ohio State would only face the likes of Michigan State, Maryland, Northwestern and Wisconsin once next season.

LGHL Ohio State running back Mike Weber named to Doak Walker Award Watch List

Ohio State running back Mike Weber named to Doak Walker Award Watch List

The redshirt sophomore is one to watch after becoming just the third Buckeye freshman to rush for over 1,000 yards.

Mike Weber, the 1,000-yard rusher as a freshman last season for the Ohio State Buckeyes, has been named to the Doak Walker Award watch list.”

-Ohio State Buckeyes

After redshirting in his first year at Ohio State, last year running back Mike Weber had the tough task of trying to replace Ezekiel Elliott. The Detroit product performed even better than many could have expected, starting all 13 games and becoming just the third Ohio State freshman to rush for over 1,000 yards, finishing the year with 1,086 yards and nine touchdowns. Weber’s performance in his freshman season not only earned him the Big Ten’s Thompson-Randle El Freshman of the Year award, but he also was a freshman All-American.

Weber figures to only get better as his Ohio State career rolls on, which is why he was named to this year’s Doak Walker Award Watch List. The Doak Walker Award was established in 1989, and Ohio State has only won the award once, with Eddie George taking home the trophy in 1995. Sixty other running backs around the country were placed on the watch list, with nine of those coming from other Big Ten schools. Penn State’s Saquon Barkley, Northwestern’s Justin Jackson, and Michigan State’s LJ Scott are just a few of the other notable names from around the Big Ten who were included on the watch list.

“There will undoubtedly be some new names emerge in 2017, though, and everybody has a guess as to who those players will be.”

-Tim Shoemaker, Eleven Warriors

With the rate at which Ohio State sends football players to the NFL, each year the Buckeyes need some new players to step up and make a name for themselves. Last year, Malik Hooker stepped into a depleted secondary and turned into a first round pick in the NFL Draft. There are plenty of talented options who could do the same this year for the Buckeyes, but Tim Shoemaker of Eleven Warriors tabs wide receiver Binjimen Victor and linebacker Dante Booker as players who could be breakout stars for Ohio State.

Wide receiver was an area of weakness for Ohio State last year, and with Noah Brown having moved on to the NFL, the Buckeyes will need to find production somewhere. Sophomore Binjimen Victor is a name many are expecting big things from over the next few seasons. Last year Victor didn’t see much time on the field, hauling in just four catches for 64 yards. Victor became more acclimated to college football as the year went on, catching two passes for 36 yards against Maryland, and catching one pass for 21 yards in the shutout loss against Clemson to end the year. Head coach Urban Meyer had high praise for Victor in the spring, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him become one of J.T. Barrett’s favorite targets this spring.

Last year, linebacker Dante Booker was looked at as one of those players who could become a breakout star, but was injured in the season opener against Bowling Green. While Booker was able to return to the field later in the year, by that time linebacker Jerome Baker had a stranglehold on Booker’s position, and Ohio State decided it was best to shut Booker down for the year and have him use a redshirt. Now with an opening at linebacker with Raekwon McMillan getting drafted by the Miami Dolphins, Booker will again get a chance to impress at linebacker. After missing last year to injury, Booker will be looking to make up for lost time and should be able to make an immediate impact for Ohio State.

“My family was really into Ohio State football and basketball. As a matter of fact, we had season tickets for both football and basketball games really for my entire childhood. I went to just about every single home game for about 10 or 15 consecutive years.”

-Ohio State men’s basketball assistant coach Ryan Pedon via Edward Sutelan, The Lantern

Not only is Ohio State’s men’s basketball team getting some fresh energy with the hiring of Chris Holtmann, but one of Holtmann’s assistants has Columbus roots. Nearly 25 years ago Ryan Pedon served as a ball boy at St. John’s Arena while Gary Williams was Ohio State’s head coach. Now, after a number of stops at schools around Ohio, as well as spending the last four years at Illinois and Butler, Pedon is back home in Columbus.

Pedon grew up in Bexley, and is no stranger to Ohio State sports, with his family holding season tickets to Ohio State football and basketball games for much of his childhood. Pedon spent his college career playing for Wooster, and while at the school was given the Bear Award, which is given to the player who exhibits leadership, character, and courage to the team. After graduating from Wooster, Pedon held a number of positions from 2000 to 2013 at Miami (Ohio), Kent State, and Toledo before moving on to Illinois to serve on former Ohio State assistant coach John Groce’s staff.

After serving on Holtmann’s staff at Butler, Pedon has already made an impact in recruiting during his short time at Ohio State. Pedon was a big reason why Kyle Young, one of Ohio’s top high school players, committed to Butler. Young followed Holtmann and Pedon to Ohio State, and could make noise early in Columbus on a roster that has been depleted by transfers and dismissals. With Pedon on the recruiting trails, Ohio State will likely be able to see more of the best players in Ohio make their way to Columbus in the future.

One more player will follow Chris Holtmann to Columbus this fall.

Today, 6’4 shooting guard Connor Fulton announced via Twitter that he had decided not to attend Butler University and instead would be following head coach Chris Holtmann to Columbus, and enrolling at The Ohio State University. Fulton averaged 16 points per game during his high school career.

The Draper, UT-native had been planning to attend Butler as a preferred walk-on, but with Ohio State’s lack of back-court depth, the move will give the Buckeyes extra options at the 2-guard for both game and practice situations.

With Fulton’s addition, the Ohio State roster now sits at 11 players; Fulton is the team’s fifth guard. He joins forward Kyle Young, another previous Butler commit, and guard Musa Jallow as players to join the team following the firing of former head coach Thad Matta.

The new Ohio State coaching staff acknowledges that with little time to mold the roster the way that they would like, the 2017-2018 season could be a bit bumpy. However, new Director of Player Development Scoonie Penn thinks that the future is bright in Columbus.

“This will be a tough year, for sure,” Penn said at his introductory press conference earlier this week. “There’s no doubt about that. But I think these guys have it going in the right direction.”

We will see in just a few months.
