If you ask my mom or my aunts (her sister and my dad's sisters) they will all swear up and down the house my parents lived in when I was born was haunted. My mom will tell you that lamps often fell over towards her, that something in the basement wanted her to leave when she was down there doing laundry, and that when she mowed she would see something in the windows out of the corner of her eyes, watching from the "empty" house. My aunts will tell you that staying in the guest room was fine, until the lights went out. As soon as the lights went out though, they knew there was something in the room, watching. To the point that they all refused to stay in the room. The back of the house, where the laundry equipment in the basement and guest bedroom happened to be, overlapped the location of an old farm house that used to be on the property and the theory is that an old farmer was still there and he did not like women.
My mom will also tell you that she's had deceased relatives visit her at night, which could be vivid dreams but she swears she's spending time with them. I've had other family stories about houses with a presence of some kind. I've had friends tell me about haunted dorm rooms or experiences at The Ridges down at OU.
I've never personally experienced anything like that though. I do believe there's logical explanations for almost all ghost stories, but some of the stories my family tells, and stories like
@Steve19 tells above make me want to believe. I would be surprised if there's not parts of our world and existence beyond our normal perceptions and our scientific advances to this point. Is it ghosts? Who knows?
