NCAA Football: Cotton Bowl-Ohio State at Texas

The OSU news never sleeps, and we’ve got the latest from the Buckeye offseason.

As we quickly approach 60 days until the 2025 Ohio State football season, the news continues to flow, because the offseason news never sleeps.

We’re back to discuss the headlines since our last podcast, starting off with recruiting news with Cincere Johnson committing to the Buckeyes. We don’t normally dive too deeply into recruiting on this podcast, but it was a noteworthy addition, and how do you ignore a name like that?

We have had a couple of new kickoff times announced for this fall since our last show, and neither of them will start at noon, which should make some folks happy, although these aren’t the marquee matchups of the fall. We now know when the Grambling and Ohio University games will start.

The legendary Lee Corso will don mascot headgear one more time and that will take place at the Horseshoe on Aug. 30. The College Gameday crew will visit Columbus on the day the Buckeyes host the Texas Longhorns, and Corso will call it a career after the broadcast. Here’s to hoping he puts the Brutus Buckeye head on one more time. We talk about Corso’s career a bit and give some statistics about Gameday at Ohio State.

Ohio Stadium will get some renovations that will make wealthy people happy and earn more money for the university, but it will affect the marching band’s location. The new suites will probably be nice, but your hosts will not likely ever see the inside of one.

Some future OSU schedules have been adjusted, and we’ve got the skinny on that, even though everyone will probably forget those changes by the time they roll around.

Finally, we paid tribute to the late, great Jim Marshall, who passed away recently. Marshall may always be remembered for picking up a fumble and running the wrong way, but he had a terrific Ohio State career, and it’s one worth remembering.

We are in our monthly offseason schedule, but we could have more than one show a month depending on how much news there is. We will return to our weekly schedule in August, as camp opens and we get you ready for the 2025 Ohio State football season.

We would love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email. Any questions directed toward us will be answered on our next show.

Be sure to subscribe, rate, review, share, and follow the show over on Twitter at @SilvrBulletsPod.

As always, thanks for listening!

The Buckeyes were also listed in the top two for a five-star OT and could flip a three-star Florida DL commit.

We are nearing the end of June, and Ryan Day and the Ohio State football team are having a busy summer. With summer recruiting camps now wrapped up, the Buckeyes will hope the hard work put in the last few weeks and months will soon payoff.

With the current college football recruiting schedule, late June and early July see many of the nation’s top recruits commit to the college football programs of their choice. The Buckeyes will see many recruiting targets commit this week, and are hoping for a BOOM.

Anticipation doesn’t stop after this week, as the Buckeyes saw another top target of their announce a commitment date for later this month — and Ohio State is one of his top contenders. 2026 four-star DL Damari Simeon (Richland, NJ / St. Augustine Prep) will announce his college decision on June 27, and will choose between Michigan, Penn State, Texas and Ohio State.

I will be announcing my commitment this Friday, June 27th at 5:00 PM EST ‼️ @HermitsFootball @rickymremax @kevinquinn74

— Damari Simeon (@Damari_Simeon) June 23, 2025

Simeon is a four-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 26 DL prospect. He is also the No. 201 national prospect and the No. 3 recruit out of New Jersey.

The blue-chip prospect has kept his recruitment rather close to the vest, and recently completed his official visits this month with all four of his finalists. The first to receive a visit was Michigan followed by Penn State and then Texas. He wrapped up his visits with a weekend visit with the Buckeyes, one which looks to have gone as well as possible.

It is anyone’s guess as to which of his four finalists will ultimately earn his commitment. but Land-Grant Holy Land will keep you updated on his recruitment and all things Ohio State recruiting.

Ohio State still a contender for Felix Ojo

2026 five-star offensive tackle target Felix Ojo (Mansfield, TX / Lake Ridge) is not a new name for those who follow Ohio State recruiting. The Buckeyes have long made him a priority in this recruiting cycle, and because of that the team is still in the running for his commitment.

On Monday, On3’s Steve Wiltong reported that Ojo has a “main two” consisting of Texas and Ohio State.

Ojo has completed official visits with both Ohio State and Texas, as well as Utah and Michigan. It has long been believed that home-state school Texas was the favorite to land him, and it will be a difficult task for any school to pry him away from the Longhorns. However, it appears if one school is going to convince him to leave Texas, the Buckeyes have the best shot.

Ohio State currently holds commitments from four-star offensive tackles Maxwell Riley and Sam Greer, as well as three-star interior offensive lineman Tucker Smith. Ojo would be the perfect final piece for this cycle’s offensive line haul.

Ojo is the No. 2 OT in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 7 national prospect. He is also the No. 1 recruit out of the talent-rich state of Texas.

Ohio State hoping to flip three-star Florida DL commit

Ohio State is really looking to shore up its defensive line after falling short in last year’s recruiting cycle. The Buckeyes lone defensive line commitment in this year’s cycle is four-star edge Khary Wilder, and they are looking to add to this haul before the class ends.

Ryan Day and Ohio State have made it a point of focus to keep the best recruits in Ohio in-state, and this mantra continues to hold true. Despite being already committed to Florida, the Buckeyes have been heavily recruiting three-star defensive lineman Jamir Perez (Cleveland, OH / Glenville).

This work appears to be paying off, as multiple recruiting analysts for On3 covering the Florida Gators are predicting the Buckeyes to successfully pull off the flip.

— On3 Recruits (@On3Recruits) June 23, 2025

The flip prediction follows a weekend official visit between Perez and the Buckeyes. For his part, Perez has not said anything publicly about flipping his commitment, but an announcement could be on the near horizon and would be welcome news for Ohio State.

Perez is the No. 71 DL prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 662 national prospect. He is also the No. 29 recruit out of Ohio.

Ohio State offers nearly a dozen OL prospects

Ohio State offensive line coach Tyler Bowen started off the summer recruiting camp cycle quite selective in who he was offering to join the Ohio State Buckeyes football program. However, now with the camp season has come to a close, the Buckeyes began the week dishing out scholarships to nearly a dozen recruits:

  • 2027 four-star IOL Reed Ramsier
  • 2027 three-star OT Jacob Burns
  • 2027 four-star OT Lucas Rhoa
