Reminds me of a kid I grew up with in Reno. A real piece of work when he got to adulthood. Well, actually always, but he really grabbed the brass ring later on. Anyways, his marriage fell apart, and he was given visitation requirements so strict that he couldn't be around his sons unless either his sister or mother were present in the room. I think we can all read between the lines there. So down the road, he's stopped drinking and is paying his child support at least some of the time, so for the good of her sons, his ex relents and allows him to have normal visitations with his kids. That doesn't mean that he didn't do the shit in the first place, just that the ex-wife saw some reasoning behind lightening up on the guy for the good of her children.

And yes, he is a lifelong, die-hard Raiders fan.

I'd bear in mind that both have substance abuse problems here. And her own blood didnt side with her publically or privately.

I dont want to defend him... just trying to get the context right about this toxic relationship.
She's no saint giving him a break; which seems to be the gist of your parable.

Actually, the wife did rescind her accusations......

Page 1:

All parties agree that ... Zach Smith did not commit any violent acts against Courtney Smith

and

All parties agree that ... no threats of violence were made towards Courtney Smith

And on Page 2:

6) Defendant did not threaten to cause physical harm at any time on May 12, 2018
7) Defendant did not physically harm at any time on May 12, 2018

Then, in the final paragraph of page 2 it is detailed that the agreement between Smith and Smith is that the charges are dismissed (not reduced, dismissed) in exchange for a 3 year CPO. The State, however and as detailed on page 3, did not agree to simply drop the charges, and instead agreed that it would reduce them to a minor misdemeanor.... probably so that the State didn't have eat the Court costs

Ok so not that I'm defending ZS, who obviously is no angel here, but if I'm understanding this agreement, Courtney admitted he never abused her or even made violent threats towards her but yet that was the entire basis of this media circus crap sandwich?? Was part of the agreement somehow that Zach can't now go back and sue Courtney for defamation because holy crap. This dude and Urban Meyer both just lost their reputations because this chick made up lies and got a crazy reporter to publish them on facebook. Scary crap, but even scarier that the media spin on this is still that Zach is the dirtbag. I just don't get this entire clown show.
