Zach Smith (Official Thread)

Well, I'm not the OP (believe it or not) I just took it to be a play on the ban of all things blue.
Right, that and the fact that there have much more ridiculous comments stated over the last couple of weeks on this whole shitstorm on the inter webs.

BTW anyone hear anything about the investigation at Maryland....yeah me neither....

Why talk about a kid that fucking died when we can speculate about what a coach may have known about it what his assistant might have been doing in his free time?

Or the report that Baylor placed a mole in sexual asssult survivor groups in order to put together their PR response to their scandal where over 50 young females were actually raped.

People can't simply disagree with each other today without feeling the need to resign?

Mr. Wadsworth said in the interview that he had left the meeting at the lunch break, a few hours after it began, so he did not know the official result until it was announced, though he said he had had a good sense of what it would be.

That's the sign of a person really committed to the board to which he/she was appointed--walking out on his fellow board members just a few hours into a discussion that lasted almost twelve hours. I know, I know, it was because he "had a good sense of what it would be." Sure you did, Jeff. Nice work in taking responsibility for the duties you assumed.

But yeah Urban Meyer enabled someone to abuse their wife off campus... makes me sick.

As someone just said Maryland and ND fucking killed a kid ON CAMPUS and crickets from everyone.

Its only a story because of who the school is and who the coach for the school is.

You must really work hard at being an asshole. Nobody could be as big of an asshole as you without really trying.

So you were serious. You were literally questioning a trustee's competence and ability to do his job because he wore a blue tie? You're everything wrong with our fanbase and the reason it has the sordid reputation that it does. Do you send death threats to reporters who say mean things about us too? I only wish for two things. First, that the precious foosball manages to bring you some happiness and fill whatever void in your life that it's replacing. Second, that you're not actually an alumnus of Ohio State and just some guy who bought the t-shirt and took the ride.

And FWIW, the guy shouldn't have resigned. In doing so, he just made a bad situation worse. But I'd rather have a dozen guys like him on the board who are concerned about the entire university rather than Jim Rhodes' tawdry collection of Columbus car dealers who almost destroyed the university but always took care of the foosball.

Maybe it is hard to see the sarcasm from such a high vantage point?

No you pompous asshole I was not serious. It was a joke. Unfortunately it went right over your simple minded head. Until your maturity level improves and you actually learn better comprehension skills maybe you should stay away from your keyboard. And what's really funny is your arrogance does far more damage to the reputation of Ohio State than a joke about a board member in a blue tie. If I was seriously going to question his competence I would have brought up he appears to be the only trustee who was totally inflexible, and he seemed proud of the fact he has a history of it. The way he went about it the term "attention whore" comes to mind. Look it up. You will probably see your picture next to it. I am an alumnus, probably since you were in diapers (which could have been last week for all I know).
And this conversation is over.

One [STRIKE] trustee's [/STRIKE] member of the paper/s editorial board in this response from the cleveland.com article comes close to the mark, IMO.

Mary Cay Doherty, editorial board member:

As a man of conscience and honor, Urban Meyer should have fired Zach Smith years ago and he should have been honest about his own knowledge of the allegations. But applying the April 2018 contract extension to events from 2009-2015 is an overreach, especially since the contract extension conveniently provides cover for OSU at Meyer's expense. Although we must protect domestic violence victims, parsing Meyer's every word and deed is unnecessary; here, blame lies with Zach Smith. Meyer reacted defensively to public scrutiny and may be a bad judge of character, but in this case, he should not be responsible for alleged crimes Smith may have committed off the field.

Essentially, she's saying Meyer screwed up, was dishonest, should have fired ZS a long time ago and that the university could have fired him for his missteps but chose not to. He survived by the grace of Drake and the Trustees. Also interesting that Captain Bucknuts appears to have had his head up his ass when he portrayed it as Drake versus The Board.

Characterizations that it was the board vs. Drake, or another report that a prominent donor was stonewalling discussions were not accurate, cleveland.com learned. Trustee Cheryl Krueger told ABC 6 TV in Columbus that Drake "was very gracious in asking what our point of view was."

As for Meyer, I don't think I'll ever have a pure black and white feel for what should have happened to him the way I did with Tressel. But after reading the report and watching his performance at the press conference, I am 100% certain that he absolutely shouldn't have been allowed to walk away from this. And after his press conference tantrum, I really don't give two shits if he chooses to leave after the season. There was an Ohio State University before him, and there'll be one after him.

Warnings can be issued privately, but I think this one needs to be made public. The bolded statement is a personal attack that crosses the line. And a few days ago you accused another poster of racism, which definitely should have received a warning at the time; I apologize to BP members for not taking action then.

Your passion for defending the University is admirable, and your concern about it not appearing to be a football factory is understood due to some historical context. But this is primarily a football board for football fans, whether they are tOSU alumni or not. You've been around long enough to know that attacking Buckeye fans on this board is an entirely different situation from mocking Juggalos or Pedsters. Please remain mindful of that in your future posts.

If you wish to respond, please do so via a private conversation.
