Zach Smith (Official Thread)

We've seen this play out (in different specific contexts) before. Unlike many other places, nothing and no one (and certainly not Coach Zack) is bigger that tOSU. That's part of what's special. Everyone knows the drill and Earle Bruce's grandson ought to know it better than most.

I don’t see this being resolved quickly.

It’s incredibly difficult to fire anybody anymore especially in the public sector.
It’s a process that takes time, I don’t know if it’s started.

I’d guess we will see him be reassigned and/or seeking help.

Especially if he claims he has an alcohol issue or is transitioning into a woman.
You can’t just fire him.
I wouldn’t think Zach goes quietly.

Wait, so he's being blasted for dropping his kid off at the kids mom's house? GTFO. The other issue was nearly a decade ago and until yesterday the only people bitching about that were the Diddy and his Dandy's. The details of that encounter are pretty vague with no charges filed and, now, seemingly over exaggerated from available facts.

Not defending his coaching abilities, those concerns are all out there, and frankly best determined by Urban Meyer who, for ZS's entire career has judged his balance of recruiting & coaching as worthwhile. If the result is that Urban sends him packing then, I'll surely accept that the right decision has been made for reasons that will probably never be truly known. But christ, there's some serious mob mentality going on here and it's sad to see it organized at a high end happy hour.

To be clear, I'm not calling for him to stay (innocent until proven guilty blah blah blah aside). Just noticing some fairweatherness in regards to his coaching abilities. 3 years ago diddy comes here to bitch about "Spaulding" and people (myself included) defend him either because he's a Buckeye or because diddy is a douche. Now that he's shown to be a shitbag of a person and likely on his way out....it's pretty easy to take off the scarlet glasses and start calling for Brian Hartline.
Yeah, I mean I was never too bothered by the Twitter stuff, but the domestic violence stuff is something that can’t be ignored. He’s proven to be a pretty solid recruiter that connects well with the younger guys, but perhaps his immaturity is a large reason why he connects as well as he does. His performance in developing WRs once they get onto campus has been lacking, and what he offers in recruiting ability can be easily replaced with someone who does just as well on the recruiting trail, as well as on the field.

As for diddy, I just enjoyed breaking his balls for the high end happy hour comment. That shit was hilarious (still is).

Some of that depends if there is a morals clause in his contract; no idea if there is though.

A court has found that he presented a "present and immediate danger of domestic violence". It's more than just dropping his kid off

I don't know anything about this, but I think that any divorce attorney can tell tales of fraudulent claims of spousal abuse with the intention of separating the spouse from the kids as punishment for a divorce, affairs or whatever.. By men and women. Doesn't sound like it in this case, but I guess my point is that no one here really knows what happened on the day.

And dare anyone open the pandora's box of who knew what and when they knew it... beyond the high end happy hour goer...

I really don't want to think that Urban had so much as a whiff of this. I really think I'm wrong... especially since the shit hit the fan once at UofF.
