YOUR 2016 Cleveland Indians Thread (American League CHAMPS!)

Find it interesting that Francona is going to start Bauer against Boston rather than Kluber. Pitch Bauer for 5 innings and had that bullpen ready. I cannot believe that one more day of rest for Kluber is going to help his groin or whatever. It would be nice for Toronto to beat Boston today and for us to win one of our remaining two games to get home-field advantage. I would hate for that game at Detroit on Monday to mean something and if Toronto does not beat Boston we need to win the remaining two games to get the home-field advantage.

It also will be interesting to see who Francona decides to keep on the roster pitching wise for the Boston series.
I think going with Bauer has more to do with not wanting to go with Kluber on short rest for a game 4.

It also lines Kluber up for Game 5 of Division series, or if not necessary Game 1 of ALCS, on regular rest.
I just think winning the first game is very important from an confidence standpoint and I would not be looking ahead to game 5 or the ALCS.

Absolutely agree that Game 1 is important. But in this case I don't think the Indians are ignoring that. Winning Game 1 does not mean much if they can't win two more games in the Red Sux series.

It seems pretty clear they don't believe Clevinger or anyone else other than Tomlin or Bauer is ready to start in October. With the schedule, the only way to use just 3 starters is to have Game 4 started by the Game 1 starter on 3 day's rest. With Kluber's injury they don't want to risk using him on short rest and, perhaps, they feel another day's rest before Game 2 might help him.

I guess they could roll the dice, start Kluber in Game 1 and try for a 3 game sweep. I don't think it's too likely the Tribe can sweep so the rotation they've chosen seems the one most likely to give them a chance to get to the ALCS.

I'm not even sure what to think of this series.

All bets are usually off in October, in 07 the Yankees dominated the Tribe in the regular season, and then the Tribe beat them 3-1 in the ALDS

Boston took the season series this year 4-2.

Rick Porcello went 5 2/3 giving up 5 hits and 2 runs in his only start vs the Tribe this year back in May

Bauer's lone start vs Boston he went 5 and gave up 8 hits and 4 runs (also back in May)

Hopefully they can take 1 and 2 at home, because I have little faith in Tomlin @ Fenway in game 3 with the way he gives up long balls.

Its just all trying to make the best of a bad situation. I think the gamble is kind of like this... Someone other than Kluber will have to win at least one game no matter what. Second, the bullpen will be rested for the first game, so all hands on Deck there... and then off Saturday before game 3... so all hands on Deck again...

After that its pretty much see where you are, and hope you scored a shit ton of runs.

Today the Indians recalled the remainder of their 40 man roster: Giovanny Urshela, Shawn Morimono and Dylan Baker. Any guesses why? Don't recall seeing other playoff teams do this.

Seems like the red Sox did too. But the postseason roster isn't the 25 man... the 40 man is in effect from September 1 to opening day. Not sure if they have to recall these guys to make them post season eligible or not.

When I first saw that only Cleveland was listed today. Now looks like all clubs, playoff or not, have made same moves.

Every Cleveland fan KNEW the Orioles were doomed tonight when they showed Ubado Jimenez warming up. Sure enough, he comes in and tosses batting practice to the Jays.

Showalter must have a fishing trip scheduled for this weekend or something? Ubado puts runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out and Bucky leaves Britton in the pen so, with just 1 more pitch, Ubado can serve up the game losing tater?

I know some folks feel that Tito over uses the match up metrics, but we all know he would not allow that kind of mistake. Feel lucky to have Tito calling the Tribe's shots.

Seriously some of the worst managing I've ever seen. There's no way Buck actually had so much faith in Ubaldo to keep his damn near unhittable closer on the Bench, is there? He did it though.

Buck is a by-the-booker, and he didn't want to use his closet without a lead. In this way, the Indians are in good shape, because if you use Miller on lefties, you still have Allen.
