Youngstown St. at tOSU, Sat. 9/9, 12pm EST, BTN

What possible answers are we going to get from beating on YSU or WKU?

Next test is Notre Dame and it's pass/fail.
Well, if he's struggling to get his stud WRs the ball the next two weeks, we'll have an answer that we don't want. Him lighting them up won't guarantee that we're in good hands, but it'll certainly make everyone feel better going into ND.

I agree, though; we won't know much positive for sure until after ND.

Really going to pay attention to how Kyle is getting his yards in this one. Are they on downfield throws or is get getting a ton of YAC?

I recall being excited about Bauserman after the Akron game in 2011 and then by Miami it was like “oh no”.

For Kyle, hopefully he can actually throw kids open and down the field at that.

Ironic you mention Bauserman, I just made a comment yesterday that some of the playcalls and packages from Hartline were very 07/Tressel-like. Almost like he brought his college notes into work lol

I wish to see Brown get 2nd half reps. The OL needs to gel more and the passing game needs to be far better. Go Buckeyes !

I watched the LT get physically whipped more than once.

"Gel-ing" against an undermanned D2 school won't change that once they get to the big boy part of the schedule.

YOUNGSTOWN STATE, SEPTEMBER 9TH

You don't know anyone who plays for Youngstown State, and that's okay; their premiere running back from 2022, Jaleel McLaughlin, is now with the Broncos. McLaughlin rushed for almost 1600 yards at 7 per carry last season, and his absence means that the Penguins are a passing team now, baby! Hope you like wide receivers, because this continues a theme as Bryce Oliver is YSU's best player for 2023. Phil Steele likes the guy, which should be enough for you, but he's an experienced player (to put it mildly: this is the 6th year of his college football career, which started at the University of Kentucky in the year of our Lord two thousand and eighteen), wears the number zero (badass), and while YSU is going to lose by 70, Oliver will be the most interesting part of the 30 minutes of Youngstown State football you'll actually pay attention to.

YOU ARE MISSING ANOTHER INTERESTING STORY.

Marcus Hooker is the starting safety at Youngstown State. Remember when he transferred from tOSU (kicked off the team)? This is where he landed. Malik Hooker's little brother.

One other thing to keep in mind. While the penguins are completely overmatched, their OL is not like the FCS teams that your think of normally. They go 6'6 300+ across the OL

Youngstown plays in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, the same one that has North Dakota State and South Dakota State. They're probably going to finish in the top 3 of that conference this year.

Last year Iowa beat South Dakota State 7-3 with two safeties and a field goal.

The OL looks the part of FBS teams. Have to be gig up front to win against the Dakota teams . YSU gave Kentucky a lot of trouble last year until their 65 scholarship depth showed up.
