Youngstown St. at tOSU, Sat. 9/9, 12pm EST, BTN

YOUNGSTOWN STATE, SEPTEMBER 9TH

You don't know anyone who plays for Youngstown State, and that's okay; their premiere running back from 2022, Jaleel McLaughlin, is now with the Broncos. McLaughlin rushed for almost 1600 yards at 7 per carry last season, and his absence means that the Penguins are a passing team now, baby! Hope you like wide receivers, because this continues a theme as Bryce Oliver is YSU's best player for 2023. Phil Steele likes the guy, which should be enough for you, but he's an experienced player (to put it mildly: this is the 6th year of his college football career, which started at the University of Kentucky in the year of our Lord two thousand and eighteen), wears the number zero (badass), and while YSU is going to lose by 70, Oliver will be the most interesting part of the 30 minutes of Youngstown State football you'll actually pay attention to.

1. YOUNGSTOWN STATE (SEPT. 9, HOME)

Average Ranking: 1
High Rank: 1
Low Rank: 1

Ohio State won 76-0 the last time it played an FCS opponent (Florida A&M in 2013). There’s no excuse for the Buckeyes not to dominate this game from start to finish, and everyone on our staff agrees that beating the Penguins will be the easiest win of the year.

I'D BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR. Ohio State celebrated the 100th year of Ohio Stadium last season with commemorative programs that honored the rich football history in the Horseshoe, a.k.a. the Shoe or "The House That Harley Built."

However, because of their collection appeal, the programs sold out fast on Saturdays, and not all attendees received a fair chance to purchase the commemorative booklets. In 2023, LEARFIELD Publications developed a way to combat that issue: The 2023 Ohio State Game Program VIP Package.

Did you miss out on one or more of last season’s historic game programs? Do you want to make sure that doesn’t happen again in 2023?
Become an Ohio State Game Program VIP and ensure yourself a full set of eight 2023 Ohio State football programs — including the first-time ever road game programs from the marquee games at Notre Dame and Michigan! Plus as a VIP, you will get free shipping... no more worrying about weather or someone spilling a drink.
BENEFITS: All six Ohio State Official 2023 Football Home Game Programs (vs. Youngstown State, Western Kentucky, Maryland, Penn State, Michigan State and Minnesota); First-of-its-kind road game programs for games at Notre Dame and Michigan; Shipping of all eight programs to the address of your choice (programs will ship as soon as possible the week of each game but are unlikely to deliver before gameday — but we’ll try; Special one-time online discount code for 20% off at The Team Shop; A unique link that provides discounted ticket offers to various Ohio State sporting events. Events will be added to this link as single game tickets become available to the public; Total cost on the 2023 Ohio State Game Program VIP package is $160 — simply the cover price of the eight programs.
Here is the program cover from Ohio State's matchup with Youngstown State on Sept. 9:

As someone may have said in 1922, the year Ohio Stadium hosted its first close encounter of the athletic kind, "That's the cat's pajamas!"

This game will mean a lot more than I think a lot of us expected it to. Kyle needs to develop a rhythm with his WRs this game
Yep. This is a big one. Need to see him getting the ball to the shiny toys frequently.

For me, ideally, Kyle plays well enough to have this out of hand at halftime and yields to Brown early in the third quarter.

Really going to pay attention to how Kyle is getting his yards in this one. Are they on downfield throws or is get getting a ton of YAC?

I recall being excited about Bauserman after the Akron game in 2011 and then by Miami it was like “oh no”.

For Kyle, hopefully he can actually throw kids open and down the field at that.
