You know for two teams from such a "slow" conference....

6-1.SUCKIT.

Sophmore
ain't it amazing that if you take a look at the "prime" skill positions that Ohio State and Michigan have done as good or better than any other schools out there.

Where do generally the best, most fluid athletes on football teams play? CB and WR.

Take a look over the last 15 years at the talent that Ohio State and Michigan have put out at these positions.

I'll put up these lists against ANYBODIES out there.

Michigan

WR:
Desmond Howard
Derrick Alexander
Amani Toomer
Tai Streets
David Terrell
Marquise Walker
Braylon Edwards
Jason Avant
Steve Breaston

Soon to be: Mario Manningham and Adrian Arrington

CB:
Ty Law
Charles Woodson
Marlin Jackson
Leon Hall

Ohio State

WR:
Ted Ginn
Anthony Gonzalez
Roy Hall
Santonio Holmes
Michael Jenkins
Drew Carter
Reggie Germany
Ken-Yon Rambo
David Boston
Terry Glenn
Joey Galloway

Soon to be: Brian Robiskie

CB:
Shawn Springs
Nate Clements
Chris Gamble
Antoine Winfield
A. Youbooty

Soon to be: Malcolm Jenkins

Pretty impressive lists for two schools from such a "slow, prodding, outdated, speed devoid, stone-age, 3-yards and a cloud of dust" conference.

I'd put both of those lists up against ANYBODY except maybe Miami, which just seems like a freaking farm system for the NFL.

I'd put them up against LSU, Florida, Florida State, USC, and say they are all better lists.

Guess I just get sick of hearing ESPN or reading articles about how Ohio State can't win the BCS title game because they are playing against an SEC that has twice the talent. That Ohio State cannot win becasue the B10 is a slow, weak conference void of any speed. It really is just starting to piss me off badly.

Yeah, the whole southern speed myth is well documented. Ted Ginn wouldn't have run any faster if he was born in Miami. That kid Holloway from LSU wouldn't be a step slower if he hailed from Detroit.

All the top programs have speed. It's lazy journalism to say "SEC Speed"

I agree completely that it's lazy journalism.

I wish that just once somebody would call the idiots that say that stuff out though. I'd love to see Desmond, Herbie, or Speilman call some of their fellow ESPN counterparts out on this issue and tell them they are full of it.

Never gonna happen. Speils would be the most likely candidate to do anything like that, I think. Best way to get rid of the notion is to beat those southern teams until the myth goes away.

Guys, no offense but if you go back to last years game with UF they clearly beat you with overall team speed. That being said I actually think you have a better team this year. Wells emergence is a big diference. LSU is going to be quicker, but I think OSU may be a bit stronger. By the way your coach is a class act. Good luck.

No, they didn't. They beat us with speed off the end (their D) and then they beat OSU by taking the underneath routes on offense and running Tebow in short yardage.

I'm willing to say the DEs for Florida were faster than OSU's Oline... first step quickness is what I'm talking about. But, the idea that they out ran Ohio State is absurd.

After last year's "tOSU and Michigan are clearly the best two teams!" horse was flogged by Herbie for a month, he seems to be laying low this year to see which way things break first.

NOBODY wants a Buckeye win more than Herbie.

You can put them up against anybody and they'll get toasted by anybody.

You do realize that Marlin Jackson is playing great football for the Colts this season and that he is the best corner on that team right? Jackson intercepting Tom Brady last season in the final seconds of the AFC Championship sealed the game and prevented the Patriots from having yet another come from behind victory. Jackson is among the best corners in the NFL.

Leon Hall has 60 tackles, 4 INT's, and 12 passes defensed as a rookie. He's had his ups and downs, but then again he's only a rookie and his front 7 is among the worst in the NFL. Hall is a solid corner as a rookie, and within 3 seasons he'll be one of the better ones in the NFL.
