Man Pepper Sprays Infant Son In Face - Orlando News Story - WKMG Orlando

DELAND, Fla. -- A Central Florida man was charged with abuse after he blasted pepper spray into the face of his infant son during an argument over parenting issues.

Police In DeLand said they have never seen anything like it, Local 6's Erik Webber reported.

Officers said Kenneth Smith, 25, got into a fight with his girlfriend Thursday and it then escalated into violence.

Smith's girlfriend was in a bedroom holding her infant son when police said he pepper sprayed the woman and his own son in the face.

"We have had cases where children get injured during an argument, but it is the first time we have heard pepper spray or Mace has ever been used," DeLand Police Sgt. John Anderson told the Daytona Beach News Journal. "It is unusual."

Paramedics treated the child and woman at the home.

Smith was arrested and charged with aggravated battery and child abuse, police said.

Are you serious? You don't have a problem with some assclown spraying mace into an INFANT's face?

1. It was pepper spray; not mace.

2. There's a long distance from "having a problem with" his behavior and thinking it warrants jail time. I have a problem with lots of behaviors that are not, and should not be, jailable offenses.

3. If this had any long-term effects on the infant's health, my answer would be entirely different.

Maxbucks's parenting basics: Pepper Spray is a perfectly acceptable form of punishment as it has no long term effects, gotcha!
