Second point, it is truly ignorant to think that Tressel was trying to protect his players. There was no evidence that any players were in any way threatened by anybody or anything. And if Tressel really felt that they were threatened, he should have contacted law enforcement, or at the very least, his own attorney to get some legal advice on the matter. And the FBI never issued any kind of gag or restraining order on Tressel, or had any other form of contact with him.

Third point, after Tatgate broke in early December of 2010, Tressel should immediately have come clean about the Cicero emails. Instead, those emails were only discovered by Ohio State compliance officers during a subsequent unrelated document request.

I agree with this. The NCAA in this situation is a disciplinary committee that gives out punishment. If you get pulled over for speeding, and then tell the cop you are sorry and you'll change your behavior, you'll probably get a speeding ticket anyway. The cop is there to punish people who are caught speeding, he isn't there to see if people who are caught speeding are remorseful.

I think it would've been really hard to get no additional penalties from the NCAA.

Would have liked the decision a few weeks ago so the bowl ban could have applied this year and actually punished the players that got us into this mess. But it is what it is and got to accept the punishment and move on, this certaintly won't cripple the program. We have a great coach to lead us through this, really the primary issue for me is having to listen to another year of talk about our sanctions, etc... on game broadcasts and from talking heads.

Yup.

I already can't stand watching ESPN right now. I thought today would be about putting all this shit behind us, but now it'll never stop being brought up.

Really? I haven't heard ESPN say anything about Ohio State in almost a year... because I haven't watched ESPN in almost a year.
