Bottom line is this:
Players [censored]ed up (right or wrong)
Tress [censored]ed up
Gee let Gene really [censored] up...

the only thing I hate is the bowl ban isn't this year, solely because of players like Boom/Adams/Posey/Thomas, unfortunately this isn't the case.. Its over.. It could have been better, but it could have been worse..

On with the Post Tressel/Gene era.

I say we drop out of the bowl game this year and stick it to the NCAA. Dbags

That would also be sticking it to the rest of the Big 10, though. Don't all schools get a cut of bowl money?

I was surprised to see the bowl ban tacked on. I figured a few more scholarship losses at most. At least it's all over for you guys now and the speculation can finally end. The worst is the not knowing.

couple of thoughts cross my mind....
1. the Big Ten is more upset about this than Ohio State, because they are potenentially losing millions in the 11/12 share of whatever bowl Ohio State would have gone to.
2. Bowls are really mad... if the Fiesta Bowl has to take Michigan State instead of Ohio State (just using an example) it's harder to sell that puppy out. tOSU fans are beloved by the bowls.
3. This doesn't bother Urban Meyer too much, because the first year of any coach at any school, even Meyer at Ohio State, you are given a pass. ...and we still get to beat scUM.

So, other than worrying about a couple of recruits here and there, it's not the freaking Death Penalty. I agree with what someone said, tough for the seniors, but they have already been to a Rose Bowl, a Sugar Bowl (both victories) and a Gator Bowl. So that's not too bad. Better than going to scUM.

I wonder if we could appeal with look, give us the Bowl game back, and we'll get rid of our AD right now.

Go Bucks!

1.) The amount of money lost is way overstated, especially of the Big Ten places two teams in the BCS anyway, like this year.

2.) The Fiesta Bowl (I know it was just an example) is lucky to still exist. They don't have room to complain about the pool of teams they can't draw from. On to your larger point, us Ohio State fans aren't exactly beating down the doors to go to this year's bowl. I think that any extent to which traveling fans Are a factor is also overstated.

Sometimes you have to do what's right for you, and not everyone else.

I would bet each school makes more money off Ro-tel ads than they would off an Ohio State appearance in the Gator Bowl. Backing out now would be a bad idea for many reasons, but that's not one of them.

This might be a smart idea for the school to publicly do, but a good amount of letters addressed to a certain office building in a state park in Indianapolis telling the inhabitants that their tax-exempt status is being encouraged to be revoked by the person's representatives is also a good idea.
I'd suggest attaching a sheet of temporary tattoos to each letter.

Leave it up the writer's imagination what should be on the sheet. Just, you know, be creative. Civil, yes. Creative, certainly. Sarcastic - beyond doubt.

Outside of the really big money bowls there really isn't that much to divvy up. After you've paid for the band, team, coaches and all other expenses many bowl games below BCS don't cough up enough to worry about - and next to nothing divided up 11 or 12 ways is, well, next to nothing.

Sucks, but it's over. New sh*t came to light over the Summer, and that was the final nail in the coffin. One last detail regarding an employment matter that needs to be addressed then this whole sordid affair is in the rear view mirror.

I'm moving on. Too much good is happening: basketball, hockey, Urban Meyer, recruiting....not to mention watching Ped Aggy implode in a manner exponentially worse than anything we're dealing with.

Last post ever in this thread.

The specific bowl ban is for the 2012 season (wording is that the season will end after the last regularly scheduled game in 2012).

The specific scholarship reductions start with the 2012-2013 season.
