Maybe I am not reading your posts correctly but it sounds like you are spinning...and hard. What I am hearing from you is..*you* don't think OSU should be punished severely, but at the same time you expect the NCAA may decide to do so anyway because they can paint it how ever they want. So you don't think OSU should get the stick, but think the NCAA will ignore logic. You think the NCAA will act with intent beyond the facts at hand and hammer OSU anyway... even thought the nature of the violations and the facts of the situation suggest OSU shouldn't be hit harder than they have.

That is exactly what he is saying. I am not sure why you are having a hard time with human beings possibly not doing something that makes sense. The NCAA is made up of human beings. What we, as tOSU fans, see as an open and shut case for no further violations, others see as the hammer must fall and Rome must be destroyed.

I have no faith in the NCAA but they may get it right and realize losing your stud QB and bigger stud of a HC is punishment enough.

All involved at OSU have experienced the repercussions of their actions. JT is gone. Pryor is gone. The others are either sitting for 5 games or are also gone. So why are you expecting worse from the NCAA..even if you agree it isn't' warranted?
I'm not expecting worse. Saying that they could well accept the penalties but might not for the reasons I keep saying is plain enough. Read them again, I keep saying why. Don't agree with me? Cool. I think there is still a chance for some slight additions to the proposed penalties for the reasons I state. I think my concerns are reasonable given the circumstances. Feel free to think my reasoning is faulty. But quit changing that into a "Ubet things tOSU will be hammered" fest. That is simply not accurate.

Apologies if I am misinterpreting your comments and forgive me if I am suspicious of non-Buckeyes these days..I have spent the last 6 months watching outsiders do their damnedest to take my Alma Matter down. The Ohio State University is bigger than any of them... because they stoop too low to reach so high.
Not a problem.

Happy Bill?

Folks, he's explained his position.

We can choose to ignore it. Agree to disagree, and move on.

Or we can respond to it, which will make those of us reading this thread keep having to deal with this junk.

Of course, you can also choose to send him a PM, so the rest of us aren't exposed to more of this back-and-forth.

Personally, I'm very long past wanting to participate in such a discussion. And I'm hoping that nobody responds to that previous post. But I'm not holding my breath.

EDIT - he removed most of his post after seeing this post of mine.

I would, if you will ingdulge me, like to clarify a few things here.

1. Gatorubet is a LAWYER. So, he likes to explain things in really long walls of text. You see, as a matter of course, he bills by the hour, and as such you can't bill 3 hours for 2 sentences. His position as of this time is:

"Things are looking pretty good but anything can happen when you have real people involved that may view things differently than you do and things could go bad"

He's not actually trying to scare us, he sees it this way because:

2. Gatorubet is a LAWYER. And as such it is his job to keep people aware of the unpredictability of others and his cynacism over the years has left him with little faith in others so he has to keep everyone on their toes in the event of a bad turn in a case, and of course, he bills by the hour and all this takes time. His position as of this time remains:

"Things are looking pretty good but anything can happen when you have real people involved that may view things differently than you do and things could go bad"

He's still not trying to scare us, but, another reason he sees it this way is:

3. Gatorubet is a LAWYER. And as such, he has seen juries and judges and other folks, scarily similar to the NCAA come to conclusions that have "screwed" him and his client out of bazillions of dollars despite his best efforts to make them see things his way, so even when he's not billing by the hour, these kinds of situations fuck him. So, in case you aren't follwoing along, his position is:

"Things are looking pretty good but anything can happen when you have real people involved that may view things differently than you do and things could go bad"

4. Gatorubet is a LAWYER. So, on his behalf, I've repeated the same thing many times.

My guess is that the NCAA will:

Add 1 year of probation, going from 2 years to 3. Due to the potential for being a "repeat violator", (for basketball penalties levied in 2004 for infractions that mainly occurred before the year 2000), they'll want to make sure tOSU stays clean for a little longer before being out of the woods. It also would make it clear that they didn't just accept what tOSU self-imposed.

Give Jim Tressel a "show cause" penalty of 2 or 3 years, which basically would prevent him from taking another college coaching job for awhile, either as a head coach or as an assistant. I don't think he wants to do that anyway, but the 'show cause' is a deterrent for future coaches thinking about something that could result in a 10.1 violation.

Accept the vacating of the 12 wins from 2010 and the return of the bowl payout of $338,811, and not impose any bowl ban.

I don't think there will be scholarship reductions, but I wouldn't be shocked if a couple were taken away.

I believe a statement from the NCAA will clearly point out that JT's 10.1 violation was self-reported, and the the University cooperated fully with the NCAA investigation, and also state that those are key reasons why there aren't harsher penalties.

To be fair, I posted the above on Friday afternoon, and nobody reacted strongly to it. It's not really much different from what he posted on Sunday night:

Are the vacated wins and championship enough to satisfy the stick?? It would not surprise me to see them accept the offered penalty, or to add on a smidgen of scholly reductions to satisfy the out-for-blood demographic.

That's because you're not a cocksucking Gator out to bring the Buckeye Program down!
