Wrestling Chat (WWF, WWE, WCW, etc.)

Unfortunately we'll never see him turn heel again. I love going back and watching some his old school rap gimmick promos. Definitely did not appreciate them back then as much as I do now.
No, we won't. And they are going to miss the greatest opportunity ever to print money because of it. Remember WCW had the MNW won, they had Hogan turned, the NWO was white hot, they spent a year building Crow Sting out of the rafters to face him, and they had just signed Bret Hart. Now WCW, of course, couldn't get out of their own way and had no idea how to draw a dime. But imagine setting up the chess board like that again, with Cena as the superstar heel and say Rollins as the top face. $$$$$

Nope, it is a carefully crafted, publicly traded monopoly. Innovation in wrestling is dead.

At least they're putting some effort into it; the Rumble for the title is a good start.

They have a ton of options; do they introduce AJ Styles at the Rumble and he wins it right away? Daniel Bryan returns? Ambrose turns on Reigns? Cesaro (not sure how far he is on his rehab) shocks, or Kevin Owens?

Now I'm sure that is expecting too much but desperate times, desperate measures....or a Reigns defense, however that saying goes.

So has Balor. That's why I hope he gets brought up soon. Guys like Samoa Joe and Balor shouldn't be in NXT.

You bring up a good point about the clash. I really feel Trips is all about the new blood and can see the future, Vince is stuck in his ways trying to hold on to the old guard. He needs to step away and let Trips and Steph run the thing by themselves. Quit sitting in the back at the gorilla position and go enjoy retirement.

Not to mention the fact that with ratings sagging, Vince immediately...put himself back on TV, trying to rekindle the Austin days. Only Roman isn't Austin, and shouldn't try to be. HHH knows that shit won't work in the PG era with so many other choices on TV and their own network basically showing the exact same thing from 15 years ago. This will sound crazy, but what they need is another Vince Russo...someone to come in and blow shit up. Russo was a disaster unchecked in WCW, but when Vince and Co. Separated his good ideas from his batshit crazy ones, a lot of innovation ensued. That, and for fucks sake, stop writing all the fucking promos. Let the talent be themselves. They are so petrified of what will happen that just end up with the same cookie cutter bullshit.

With no football on, I rewatched the 1992 Rumble match last night. If you have an hour to kill, it's a great watch, especially considering the strap was on the line and the sheer star power. The roster was legit 25 deep then, with 80s stars and young guys like Michaels and the UT. I had forgotten how physically imposing Sid was when he was younger. It's really hard to believe that only 3 years later, Flair would be in the WCW, most of those guys were retired, and the WWF would put out the worst assortment of garbage imaginable at the Rumble in 1995.
