If I remember correctly he hurt his knee going after an onside kick against MSU in the games final seconds. Kid gave 100% all the tiime. Good luck V.

i remember the fan's booin fick and coaching staff,

4 seconds left in a game where the offense cant even move the ball, and you put your guy out there to get smashed on an onside kick...

because thats what happened, reed got smashed by a msu linebacker who's only goal wasnt to recover the ball, but to launch into a defensless player...reed was that guy...blew out his knee and the rest is history...

i know players get injured in this game, but this was unnecessary....it pisses me off the more that i think about it.

same kind of injury happened to kyle williams this year when Johnathan Vilma...yeah the guy involved in all the bounty scandals, injured both kyle willams and kendall hunter for the year, ON THE SAME PLAY...he hit williams the same way reed got hit...

Ohio State transfer Reed to play at Findlay
BLADE STAFF

Former Ohio State receiver Verlon Reed will play football next season at the University of Findlay, a team spokesman said.

Because he is transferring from Division I to Division II, Reed will be eligible to play immediately.

The 6-foot, 205-pound Columbus native played three seasons at OSU.

As a redshirt sophomore last year, Reed caught one pass for 13 yards in seven games. He began the previous year as a starter but suffered a a season-ending knee injury that October.

Little snippet about Verlon in an article about Findlay's signing day...

Verlon Reed, a transfer wide receiver from Ohio State, is included in the class and started school at Findlay in January. Reed played quarterback, receiver and defensive back at Marion Franklin and will get a shot to fill the void left by starting signal-caller Clay Belton, who threw for more than 2,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.

"He is one of the better athletes in the country," Keys said. "He will bring a different dimension to our offense. We are going to give him a shot to be our starting quarterback, but he has already said that if isn't the quarterback, he is willing to be a receiver. He is a team guy."

Former Ohio State Buckeye Verlon Reed, former Cleveland South star Devontae Payne battled for QB job in second chance at Findlay

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Take back the rally against Michigan State in 2011, the Joe Bauserman touchdown pass to Evan Spencer in the final minute that cut the Buckeyes' deficit to 10-7 and which led to the onside kick that would create the play that tore Verlon Reed's ACL, and maybe things would have been different. Or maybe not.

“I'd probably be the biggest star you've ever seen,” Reed, with a smile, told Cleveland.com. “But honestly, you can't think about if this happened or that happened.”

Take it back and Reed might still be a Buckeye, not an Oiler. He might still be in Columbus, not in Findlay. He might still be a receiver, not a quarterback.

When a quarterback is all he ever wanted to be.

“Quarterback is going to be in me no matter where I'm playing, no matter how old I am,” said Reed, who did some scout team quarterback work at Ohio State and used to warm up on the field before games throwing the ball, even though he knew he'd only be catching them.

Among the Buckeyes lost in the transition from Jim Tressel to Luke Fickell to Urban Meyer was the Columbus native and high school quarterback at Marion-Franklin who became a receiver when he arrived at Ohio State. He returned from his torn ACL and actually caught a pass in the opener last season, but that would be his only catch of the year. Down the depth chart, he left Ohio State in December.
