COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State freshman wide receiver Trevon Grimes is currently in Florida to be with a family member battling a health issue.
Urban Meyer confirmed that during his Wednesday night press conference, saying that Grimes is “doing great.” Meyer cancelled his normal Monday press conference on Oct. 9 to visit and support Grimes and his family. Grimes was not dressed out or on the sideline for the Buckeyes’ 62-14 win against Maryland on Oct. 7. No time table was given for Grimes’ return, but Meyer said he’s still on the team.
The week before his absence, Meyer mentioned in a press conference that he tries to stay close with the families of all his players and help in whatever way he can.
“That’s one thing I think is really cool about our program and really cool about the relationship we have with our families,” he said. “We’re on speed dial. We’re not one of those where they have to set an appointment to meet with us. There’s a constant conversation.”
