WR Torrance Gibson (Green Bay Blizzard)

There's new talk of "rugby" tackling to prevent injuries on defense.

No one is talking about "rugby" offense.

Well I saw this the other day

http://www.sportsgrid.com/football/...e-up-with-a-new-scheme-to-confound-opponents/

"And now the coach is ready to throw a new innovation into the playbook this season — his team is gonna play some rugby. On pass plays, instead of blocking downfield, his receivers are going to run to the ball and become potential options for laterals."

Torrance Gibson Making Plays and Solid First Impressions at Receiver for the Buckeyes

While many schools recruited Torrance Gibson to be a wide receiver, he was always looked at by the Ohio State coaches as a quarterback, even if other schools around the nation didn't want Gibson believing it.

"He wasn't concerned and it wasn't a negative for him, but he was getting worn out by a lot of coaches that were recruiting him just about how talented we are at quarterback. But in the end, this is the place that he wanted to be," receivers coach Zach Smith said on signing day.

"He and I talked about it a lot because obviously he would get worn out with it relentlessly that we were going to move him to wideout and all of this other stuff. We talked about it a lot, but it was more that he just needed reassurance, like, 'Hey, we're good, right?' It was never more than a five-second conversation. So it was good."

... and then 5s later find yourself getting picked off the turf after Cardale plowed through you.

Sure, but you get my point. JT out wide is at best a below average B10 WR, when a guy like Corey Smith-who would start for just about anybody-is off the field. Fans can go wild over that sort of thing, but opposing safeties don't. In reality it limits the things you can do as an offense, not multiplies them.

Cardale train tracking someone is a lot more likely to happen if he's at QB, not burying DBs on a bubble screen.

Erm, the original post was JT at QB, Cardale at RB... don't think it could work any other way. Both would have to be in the backfield. In Shotgun. With Cardale on the left or right as we often see the RB in Urban's offense.
Neither of them is Pryor... though clearly Brax and Mr. Gibson here are in a similar mold, and thus would be split out (along with QB #5 Jalin).

You could run triple option, read option, jet sweep ... before we even get to the read-option fake, nevermind Cardale long ball to Gibson. Or triple-option fake, Braxton to Gibson once his shoulder is better.

Hell, I'd pay money just to see Cardale and JT lined up next to each other. The "RB" doing the snap count... and then hiking it to the "QB". Just to screw with the minds of every poor soul in the stadium -- and especially the media.

You know, I didn't go back to the original post. That's on me. Btw, what the Hell does "Erm" mean?

Brax/TG/Jalin-sure, I just don't see JT and Cardale on the field at the same time. That's all.

While we are mentioning plays (kudos for a well thought out list, by the way) I'd like to scratch the jet and replace it with a Rocket sweep. Jet is all too often a throwaway play whereas the Rocket stresses the flanks even more-I quit running jet when I was behind my LBs and saw that both motions look the same. Plus, it would really give these dual threat RB/QB guys a chance to throw the ball. It works best under center, but a lot of guys do it in pistol too.

I'm looking for Torrance to light up the VT secondary...
The ol' 'guy with the really strong arm throw it really far to the guy who is taller and faster than the DBs' play.

I think that might work well too.

Especially as a quick change of pace package after JT, EzE and Braxton have hit them in the mouth a few times on the ground and have them crowding the box.
