WR Torrance Gibson (Green Bay Blizzard)

I'm honestly not that worried about Gibson either way. I hope he stays, but if he leaves, that's ok. At this point I'm not real worried about Urban Meyer finding a QB who can produce in his system. We will probably have J.T. for 3 more years, not to mention Burrow and Collier, etc, so maybe he should go elsewhere if he is set on playing QB.

Now Mike Weber, him I really want to keep.

Well I said long ago this is going to go to February and it may end up being right... sure he probably still ends up with the good guys but you never know. What I do know (actually what I think I know) is that I would feel bad for him if he went to Auburn or to LSU (stronger odds he'd select Auburn if not us). Nick Marshall isn't going to be a NFL QB, Cam Newton was rare and not the standard of Gus Malzahn. We hear of System Quarterbacks quite often in the NFL and Auburn is one of them (more so than we are) they are up there with Oregon, TCU, Baylor, and Texas AM. Except in the Auburn system you will run the zone read and go for 1200 yards rushing and then depend on lobbing the ball downfield on play action. Problem is when the NFL comes calling the ability to read a defense just isn't there in a Auburn based offensive system (outside of the zone read mind you).

I think with OSU he could come in as a QB and if it warrants it can switch to WR and be put in a MUCH better position if the position change does in fact happen. Personally I do think it'll happen because once our 3 guys are gone I see Burrow's as our future due to how accurate he is. Either way I hope he's in but I hope Gibson isn't listening to programs telling him he'll be a for sure QB and won't be moved... because as the Shepherd kid from years ago to LSU tells us or Fred Davis from way back they will tell you ANYTHING to get you on campus. Then eventually? you are where you would've been anyways at OSU.

Either way I hope he makes the best decision for himself and one that will pay off in the long run.

First off, clean up the language in here and quit acting like we entitled to a recruit committing here without any second thought. Maybe some are acting like they have never been here before because they actually have not been here before, but it is not excusable either way. Torrance has a tough decision to make here...even if you are completely confident, 2-3 elite QBs come back next year.

I think no matter what he wants, he will redshirt wherever he goes as a QB. By then, he will have learned a ton and both Braxton and Cardale will likely be gone. And yes, JT will be here but will also be a RS Junior as Torrance is a RS Frosh. Torrance will get his shot in less than 3 years but we will just have to see if that is enough. If not, the future of the Ohio State QB is just fine.

Respect his decision, but if he has no issue redshirting, wouldn't the high probability of all three starters this season leaving at the end of next year be enough for him to realize after his redshirt, he'd be right there in the mix?

Or does he feel that JT will definitely be here 2 more seasons?

I don't think there's a high probability of all 3 leaving.

There are a lot of advantages to showing interest in SEC schools late in the process and positioning yourself as a potential flip; particularly as an Ohio State commit since I'd imagine there is a lot of motivation to get revenge on the Buckeyes right about now.

I say that without disparaging Gibson at all. I think he ends up in Columbus and I think he can do great things with Urban Meyer.

I began this mess with a poorly worded last sentence in my post. Gibson reminded me of a recruit a few years ago that was a prima donna who's recruitement and career at Ohio State was clouded in controversy.

It's his life and he should make the decision that in the end is best for him.

Scratching my head on that too. Of course Brax is a given.
If Cardale or JT win the job, that guy could potentially enter the NFL early. But I can't see how both would be gone ?

Anyway, hope Gibson sticks but if not somebody else will come in. Auburn is a system he'd fit perfectly and I'm sure they'd give him more than a fair shot at QB... but it's not a path to the NFL. If his goal is to play QB as long as possible and get a degree, I can certainly see the draw there.

How does Gibson remind you at all of "this recruit" you speak of? IF we are talking about the same person, which I think we are, they are no where near the same...Gibson is doing the same thing hundreds of recruits do each year...I do not hear anyone complaining when Meyer gets a recruit to flip to us, do you? Gibson is making the best decision for him and with the number of QB's we have on this team can you actually blame him? I just do not see how it is fair to already compare this kid to a previous recruit we had when they are not even close to being the same person
