WR Terry McLaurin (Pro Bowl, Washington Commanders)

Indianapolis Cathedral just got finished winning their 4th straight IN state title. The game was yet again an easy one for the Irish, winning 42-18. Cathedral made it look too easy. I was able to see the second half after I got off of work. Their tough schedule made the playoffs incredibly easy. Terry had a very good last game. Despite being double teamed all night and targeted all night, he still put on a show.

Terry had 3car 79yds2tds and 6 rec 91yds 1td

Can't wait to see him on the college level

The speedy Ohio State recruit closed the curtain on his high school career with a night to remember in Cathedral's 42-18 win over Westfield for the Class 5A state championship. McLaurin accounted for 196 all-purpose yards and scored three touchdowns as the Fighting Irish claimed their fourth consecutive state title (first in 5A), becoming the first program to win championships in three different classes.

"He forces the entire game plan," Westfield coach Jake Gilbert said of the 6-foot, 190-pound McLaurin, who also made an interception on defense. "Where you kick it, how far you can kick it. He affects everything. There are plays that he doesn't make, but he still makes the play. A shanked punt has more to do with him than the pressure. A short kickoff with bad coverage is because of him.

"He's outstanding. In my mind, he's the best football player I've seen."

Fifth-ranked Cathedral (10-5) won its 11th state championship, tied for second with Fort Wayne Bishop Luers in Indiana; Bishop Chatard owns 12 titles. It was the ninth title for Cathedral coach Rick Streiff, tying him for the most titles along with Sheridan's Bud Wright and Fort Wayne Luers' Matt Lindsay.

The Shamrocks were also hurt when a good drive ended with a McLaurin interception in the end zone.

Cathedral's Collin Barthel was 13-for-17 passing for 177 yards and one touchdown, a 41-yarder to a streaking McLaurin in the first half. The Irish led 21-3 at halftime and pushed it to 28-3 midway through the third quarter on a 28-yard run by McLaurin.

He added a 47-yard touchdown run up the right sideline later in the third quarter to put Cathedral ahead 35-11.

"He's such a gifted athlete and our assistant coaches were absolutely outstanding at getting him the ball in some spots where he could make plays," Streiff said.

Streiff said it was up to others to figure out if it was an IndyStar Mr. Football type of performance. McLaurin also deflected talk of individual accolades.

"I just wanted to do what it took to win," he said. "Being a senior leader and a captain, I wanted do what I could to give us a chance to win. (Mr. Football) is not really on my mind because I don't control that. I just wanted to play at a high level today and enjoy this with my team."

His play kind of reminds me of Philly brown. An athlete that can excel at WR but has vision like a RB, and can excel on slants when hit in stride as well as taking screens for long gains. And he can take handoffs and pitches. Will fit this offense perfectly.

Dear lord THAT SPEED. I know one isn't allowed to say this but... looks faster than Ginn.

I hate when people always try and make Ginn comparisons. I'll just say, I've watched this kid almost all season, and he's very very fast, but he's not just a WR who runs a fly route or post and that's it. He's a pure football player and can run good routes, but will need work in college. But the think is, he seems like a high character kid that will put in the work and be a good presence in the locker room. Comes from a very good school with good coaches. The people here in Indy are super pissed he's not going to ND, lol

He has also played against some great competition. Since no one here wants to play Cathedral they go a long ways to play folks. Along with that the IHSAA makes them play up a division after winning their division in prior years. He has some great seasoned coaches, some of whom have played at the pro level. Cathedral is a great academic school to boot. This is a great get.

Senior highlights...absolutely redonkulous. Will need some work on his technique and to get some time with Coach Mick, but his athleticism is simply off the charts. Top end speed is elite, acceleration is fantastic, and he is shifty. After seeing this film, I think we are going to be trying to find ways to get Terry the ball in his hands any way possible.

It's crazy how underrated this kid is, when on most teams in the big 10(if not the country) he'd be considered a prized recruit. A very special and selfless player who is overlooked by players like Dixon and Curtis, but may be every bit as good when his college career is over. Heck of a WR pull, coach Smith is just stockpiling weapons.
