WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

I think when it's all said and done, you'll see him selecting a school that keeps him "close" to home, but not close enough that he can "spit" home. He said Pittsburgh was too close, but North Carolina was too far...

So somewhere in between that 500 mile radius...

Like...Columbus...

Nation's top QB prospect has Buckeyes on his list

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

"He's a freak athlete," said Dublin Coffman offensive lineman and Ohio State 2008 commitment Mike Adams, who recently watched Pryor during the Buckeyes' summer camp. "We saw him on the basketball court in the Woody Hayes Center and he was doing some outrageous dunks with ease."

Duane Long, recruiting editor of Ohio High magazine and Bucknuts.com, said Pryor "is better than (former Texas star) Vince Young at the same point in their careers."

Last season, Pryor had 1,676 yards rushing on 197 attempts (8.7 average) and 1,732 yards passing on 92 completions in 163 attempts. In basketball, he averaged 20.8 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 3 blocks.

It's not every day Ohio State is seriously in the hunt for a player of this caliber.

"I'd say you'd have to go back to Ted Ginn (Jr. in 2004); he's that good," Long said. "As far as quarterbacks, he's higher rated than Justin Zwick was. He may be the highest rated player (considering Ohio State) since Art Schlichter. He's one of those unique guys that you'd remember for a lifetime."

does anyone else think this quote from Long is a bit belittling of tOSU football program? or am i reading too much into it? his comment kinda leave a bad taste in my mouth....

If he were talking about QB's, it might make more sense.

Ginn was not our last superstar, we had one last year Chris Wells, Scout's #1 prospect (Rivals' #4), compared to Ginn's #4/2 rankings.

Not if you take it (his quote) with emphasis on the words "As far as quarterbacks..."

I don't think tOSU is traditionally a school that attracts the elite QB recruit. That doesn't mean we haven't developed some good QBs, and maybe with Troy Smith being the first Big Ten Qb to win the Heisman, perceptions begin to change. But I think we are considered (largely from outside the conference) as 'smash-mouth football', "three yards and a cloud of dust", etc., and I'm sure Coaches recruiting against us play that stereotype up a lot when highly rank QBs have looked at OSU.

So I don't think saying that Pryor being the highest rated QB considering tOSU since Schlister is out of line at all. All players considered, you'd have to talk about lots of other kids being in the same 'class' like Teddy, MoC, Beanie, MDA, etc.
