Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but his eye black said Phil 3:14. Not that this really changes the substance of your post.

My bad, I was operating from memory and I have to admit I'm trying hard to forget last night. I stand corrected. Phil 3:14: "I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

PS. Nice catch, both easterbunny and Terrelle.

At least I remembered what Little Animal's said.

The thing that stood out about Colt and Todd was that they both were willing to stay in the pocket and take the hit that they knew was coming. Todd got smacked a few times and Colt was taking shots all night long. As a result, they both completed some big passes.

Terrell is still on a learning curve. One of the things that will make him a significantly better QB is knowing when to stand his ground and take a hit, in order to complete a pass, and knowing when it's time to tuck it under and run for day light. Many passes came up short for TP because he hasn't come to that place in his development to know that taking the hit is something ALL great QB's have to do. When he learns this, WATCH OUT!!

One way to help a young quarterback is to minimize the amount of decision making that he has to do. I really hope we roll him out a lot next season, like USC QBs do, and allow him to either dump off to the FB or take off and get five yards. Heck, I would not mind him running some option. Also, he's got to get some confidence on throwing the long ball. Boeckman throws it with great confidence when he has the minimum amount of time to set his feet and make the throw, which has not been a guarantee.

It seemed almost at times last night that the TP showed some of the coaching that he had beaten into his head over the past several weeks. He avoided some contact in obvious situations where he could have gotten more. That being said I am not sure why there is such a rush to make him a pocket passer. This kid is dynamic when he runs the ball. He tore up a very good Texas front 4 last night as a true freshman. He is capable of doing the same next season and then some. The future is bright with TP behind center. :wink2:

Fiesta proves improvement, not gimmick plays, will determine Pryor's OSU future

Chris Russell/Columbus DispatchTerrelle Pryor's TD catch from Todd Boeckman late in the fourth quarter was the high point of the Buckeyes' two-quarterback offense in Monday's Fiesta Bowl loss to Texas. But the future of Ohio State's talented freshman will depend a lot more on hard work than gadget plays this summer.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Plays existed in Ohio State's two-quarterback system that went the other way, as well. The Fiesta Bowl on Monday night could have seen not only the Todd Boeckman to Terrelle Pryor touchdown pass, but one that went from Pryor to Boeckman. "I wouldn't mind going up there and catching one like Terrelle did," Boeckman said after Ohio State's season ended with a 24-21 loss to Texas.
"There was some plays, but we didn't end up running any of that stuff," Pryor said. "Todd started getting on fire. He played a good game, so he kept going in."
Otherwise, the 12 official plays that Ohio State ran with Boeckman at quarterback and Pryor also in the game was the brunt of the two-quarterback package that the Buckeyes had worked on during bowl practice.
"I guess I can give all the secrets away because I'm done, huh?" Boeckman said with a laugh. "But you guys pretty much saw everything except for me going wide."

What did that accomplish? Boeckman completed 5 of 11 passes for 110 yards in this package, gaining one yard on a sneak on the other play. His 48-yard bomb to Brian Robiskie to set up a field goal and his 21-yard crossing route to Jake Ballard to keep the go-ahead drive rolling were good throws that had nothing to do with another quarterback being on the field.
It's true that teams must treat Pryor differently in their pass rush, unable to come all out for fear that Pryor will break contain and escape. But Pryor's presence on the field didn't ease the rush on the immobile Boeckman.
"Maybe it was just to mix them up a little bit," Boeckman said of Pryor's presence at receiver, "kind of throw something different at their defense. They were so good up front, they're going to put a lot of pressure on and I think when I was in there, they brought the house almost every time. So I have to give credit to the line."

It pains me sometimes to read and listen to OSU fans. It's not on here, but elsewhere that people are already thinking that PRyor will not be capable of leading this team because of passing.

While Pryor did not have a good night passing on Monday, I find it comical that some people are calling for his job and asking him to move to other positions already. As a true freshman he led the b10 in passing efficiency and put up some decent stats. It reminds of when people were also calling for Smith to be replace in 05. Sometimes I really just can't believe how fickle fans can be regarding players.

The average college football fan is a fucking moron.

Herbstriet seemed to think that he is going to be alright.

He said that he needs to get with his WRs starting right now and just make every throw over and over and over again until it's second nature. He said that he seems to be thinking too much and that the throws aren't automatic.

Then he said Tim Tebow is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I made that last part up, but it's not that far fetched)

It would be ridiculous to move TP from QB. He is an amazing athlete, and you undoubtedly want the ball in his hands as much as possible.

I will say, I am convinced more than ever, TP is a 4 year player. It is a bad time to be known as a runner and not a thrower in the NFL. Mike Vick and Vince Young have really hurt that style of QB. As a side-stat: Tom Brady twice, Kurt Warner, and Peyton Manning all have been in the bottom 3 of the NFL as rushing QB's while winning Superbowls.

Terrelle will continue to improve as a thrower, but I'm not sure it will be ever be NFL starter quality. It's just an interesting dynamic. Mobile QB's in college = impossible match-ups and in the NFL, it's career death.

Yeah I mean he just seems to need practice and work on his mechanics. Obviously if he just can't get it he'll be replaced, but I just don't think that is the case. He progressed a lot in my mind over the course of the seaosn but then had 2 poor passing games to end it. So either he got injured or he has entered the rough patch that most expected him to. When he was first put in at QB as a starter, everyone put their hand on the bible and swore that people would wait and give him this year for development. Yet here we are and the bandwagon is already getting light.

Unless they're an absolute stud, no true freshman QB that I can remember has come out and set the world on fire passing. Some RS freshman have, some Sophomores have, but no true freshman. Tebow would've done no better, and IMO worse than Pryor if he had been handed the keys as a true frosh.

Sorry but it just gets frustrating. No one wants to give anyhting the time of day anymore Seems like patience of any kind is a lost art form.
