QB/WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

i dont understand why tressel doesnt let tp loose to throw the ball down field and make plays with his feet. hes shown a shiiit load of improvement and growth the last 3 or 4 weeks, so why not let him build off of that in a big game like this? he played well again today and made smart decisions by not forcing anything.

by the way, why does he keep changing his facemask? just wonderin

pryor has 2 turf toes, a bad ankle and a bad knee. we don't want him running right now. at all. thats why we are seeing the wildcat. if pryor were healthy those would be qb runs.

Yet another great performance by Pryor. 14/17, checked down his reads, gave the ball to RB's/TE's in the flat more than once for what must have been his last option. Ran with determination.

Very, very vanilla offense, making it easy for Pryor. But last year, the offense was just as vanilla, and he was still making easy passes into incompletions. He has improved a LOT.

Terrelle Pryor: 'We really didn't have to pass the ball'
Wait a minute: Pryor is 14-for-17, and he's crediting Ohio State's running game? That's because the Buckeyes' running game delivers. Next up: the annual Michigan showdown.

College start No. 21 for Terrelle Pryor delivered Big Ten championship No. 2. And Ohio State's sophomore quarterback says that's all that matter, despite all the hoopla surrounding his career. Pryor, who was 14-of-17 passing for 93 yards in OSU's 27-24 overtime win over Iowa, discussed the day and his season with reporters after the game:

Q: How did you feel like you did throwing the ball?
Terrelle Pryor: Yeah, what was the percentage?

Q: 14-of-17.
TP: Yeah, it's about taking check downs and not worrying about the big play. Coach Tressel and his staff, especially (offensive coordinator Jim Bollman), they came up with a good game plan. We really didn't have to attack them because we were getting running lanes, and the linemen and blocking, and (Brandon) Saine and Boom (Herron) were running all over the place. We really didn't have to pass the ball.

Q: Last time you were at Michigan, you were getting recruited? How do you think it will be there next week?
TP: Really, I'm not worried about going anywhere. I'll be with my teammates. Even going back to Pennsylvania, I was with my teammates, so it didn't matter to me. That's all the love I need.

Q: After the Purdue game, what were the keys to getting the season back on track?
TP: Like I said before, we weren't worried. It was a bump. We overlooked them. I'm sure you guys know that. The whole world knows that. The way we play Ohio State football, you've seen in the past four weeks. I'm just happy for the whole team.

Q: What were you told before you went out for overtime?
TP: With Coach Tressel, and turnovers, I hear it 24-7 in my ear. We knew what we needed. Just don't turn ball over, get three our four yards, get it in the middle. (Kicker) Devin (Barclay) likes it a little to the left side, so try to keep it there. And he knocked it in. It was great.

Q: Do you get tired of hearing about turnovers?
TP: Sometimes, you hear it so much that it's bounding in your head. I will not throw a bad ball. I will not throw the ball unless I know it's going to be there and the timing's right. I will not turn the ball over.

Q: Did Tressel say anything like that to you before OT?
TP: It was really on the running backs. He was on the running backs. I'm sure he was getting on the backs, "Hold that ball." Going down, even when there two minutes left and we had the ball, he was sitting there saying, "Don't turn it over."

Terrelle Pryor: 'We really didn't have to pass the ball' - Dave Curtis - College Football - Sporting News
Pryor is now a facilitator. He might be the most athletic player on the roster, but right now Terrelle Pryor?s primary role is to simply facilitate the offense. Since turning the ball over four times at Purdue, Pryor has been much more efficient with the football (14-17 passing against Iowa), in big part because he?s been asked to do less. Despite his 14 completions Saturday, Pryor threw for just 93 yards. That?s one week after he threw for 125 at Penn State. Yet the Buckeyes came away with victories in both games. Certainly he is still capable of the big play, especially once he has time to rest his ankle for the bowl game, but right now his most impactful play seems to be the handoff. At least until he gets his burst back.

Quarterback Terrelle Pryor went over 3,000 yards passing for the season, surpassing Todd Boeckman at 10th on the all-time list, and surpassed Cornelius Green for 10th all-time in total offense.

ditto here.....Pryor's facial expressions and general presence just seem better now. He has turned the corner of development and will become a pleasure to watch by the Rose Bowl. He will still have some struggles along the way, but the results will be sputtering offense and not dreadful turnovers and going backwards.

Dare I say that his ankle injury has triggered something to cause him to be a better QB handling the ball ?

After the Purdue game, Pryor has simply been lights out. Great decision making today and I felt he was always doing the right thing...I felt like a more athletic Krenzel was out there and the team absolutely needed what he did. Having a consistent run game is certainly helping his growth as well. He just is starting to look really comfortable out there.

Tp has 1 turnover in 4 games... A int against Minny. And that ball was just a bit late or it could have been fine. 14-17 and no turnovers is unbelievable in a game like this. 1 incomplete was on a scramble where he put the ball just out of bounds, the WR was going to get it or no one. Then the post to Posey that got knocked down. Then one incomplete to Dane. 2 of the incompletions were on the second drive. Perfect from 14 min left in the first half thru the rest of the game. Granted it was 5 for 5 but I'll take 9-12 any game. Especially against a D like Iowa's. Great job TP.

...and I thought Dane's and Posey's could have been catches

TP has really been impressive since the Purdue game. Yesterday, he managed the game very well and made the plays with his legs when needed. He was patient, went through his reads and settled for what the Iowa D gave him. He threw to the TE, the RB and the WR's, hitting six different receivers and NO TURNOVERS.

He did exactly what Tress asked of him anddidn't try to win the game all by himself. Well done TP!!

Part of his success though has been the continued improvement of the OL which has improved significantly the past four weeks. The OL is gelling nicely, and starting to dominate a bit in the trenches. It's been REALL NICE to see!!

I agree with someone above who suggested that TPs injuries may have forced him to focus a bit more on some other aspects...whether he actually realizes it or not.

I have to admit that I've been fairly critical of Pryor, but he earned a lot in my eyes yesterday. I really wished that the staff would have mixed in a few more play-action plays yesterday as TP seemed settled and was throwing on target. Hell, he was 14 of 17....and we ran it 50+ times! Well done Mr. Pryor, strong game I thought.

This kid gets "it". I remember during the 2006 Game, Kirk Herbstreit was talking to Troy Smith about what the biggest difference was between preparing for TSUN as a sophomore than as a senior, and Troy had answered "The love for my teammates", and Herbstreit raved about his character. We are seeing a similar development here with Pryor and I'm sure he and his teammates will enjoy this Saturday in the Pig House.

We have only seen the very surface of the talent that this guy brings. He has progressed week to week, IMO. He looks more relaxed every single game, and it seems that the game is starting to slow down for him. He played one hell of a game against a very good Iowa D. He showed poise and patience and made very few mistakes (there were a couple of mis-ques, but expected being only a soph.) and was going through his progression pretty well.

I am really looking forward to what Terrelle can bring come Saturday against scUM's horrible D. :osu:

The ONLY negative I saw was that he ran himself into a sack. Other than that he was very efficient. The WR's actually needed to do a better job getting deep, so that made him stay 10 yards and under for the whole game, where he completed 13-13 passes!

Oh, I didn't mean his passing. He was lights out. Two of the incompletes I put on the receivers, but even with that he had a great game in the air. I was referring to a couple of read-ops where he handed off when the DE crashed the middle leaving him with a ton of room. With that said, it is easy to understand that he made the wrong read (in my armchair QB opinion only) because he is still only a sophomore. The kid is a phenom and is only getting better everytime he takes the field.

OT: My boy gave me his wish list for Christmas while with me this weekend. First thing at the top, "#2 Terel Prior jersy" (he's 12). Ordered this morning! He is a good kid and makes me proud.

I watched those plays again and it almost looked to me like they were straight handoffs. I don't think TP had the option to keep those.
