WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Among Big Ten QBs. Terrelle is now 4th in passing efficiency (he led the league last year). I've always believed that PE rating and W-L record are the best ways to evaluate QBs.

Behind Clark (PSU), Cousins (MSU), and Tolzien (Wiscy).

That means he's ahead of Stanzi (Iowa), Elliott (Purdue), and Tater Tot (TSUN). Juice Wiliams and Adam Weber are having bad years, and we'd expect a tOSU QB to be ahead of the guys at NW'ern and Indiana.

Look for Forcier's to plummet, that dude looked very uncomfortable in cold weather and it will only get colder.

Understandable - Highly unlikely that OSU will have similar results against PSU's and Iowa's defenses.

Gotta admit, though...those quick scores sure look good on highlight reels (especially after the recent beatings OSU took from the critics).

What impressed me the most about Pryor this weekend was his mechanics. I didn't see his footwork break down or his decision making go to hell when there was pressure in his face. This was probably the most poised I had seen him all year. I hope that this trend continues and instead of focusing on his mechanics during practice, those sort of things can turn to basic and we can see him evolve into a quarterback with athletic ability.

It was awesome to see Terrelle succeed yesterday and see his reaction from it. He was up and down the sidelines cheering on the defense and rallying the offense when Minny would turn it over. That's the attitude that he has to have instead of the mopey, angry TP that won't speak to anyone on the bench. Seeing him enjoy the game made me enjoy the game that much more. I'm real excited for Saturday to see how he comes out after that confidence boost from yesterday.

I heard more than a few people say that Pryor had a bad game yesterday. Bad, as in.. not good and deserving a benching for performance, rather than because of a blowout.

Unfortunately, it seems that the haters will not go away no matter what happens. They could not be reasoned with. "He's a sophomore." "He had a good game." "He looked much better throwing and running." "He was more decisive when choosing when to run or pass."

None of those mattered.

I'm glad he doesn't care about stupid people being stupid.

If having the 8th most total yards in OSU single game history is bad, some people will never be satisfied.

Yeah I also ran into FANS saying that they aren't impressed at all because it was Minnesota. I felt like i was trying to explain to scUM fans why this weeks performance was impressive. I actually was saddened by the way they reacted and understand why there are fans of other programs that laugh at our fanbase. 8th best performance shouldn't matter who you are going against... OSU has played 8 worse teams than Minnesota, yet people shrug it off so they can bash him again later. They said "Well if he beats PSU/Iowa/scUM then I'll think he's doing better. Give me a F-in break.

Agreed, but this is the reason I qualified my statement. Can this be maintained when there is a defense that can get pressure on him and take away more of the field then 'Sota can. I disagree the he did not play well vs Indiana and Toledo. I think he does great when there is little pressure on him and he has shown that.

I think we both agree if he can maintain and keep improving on his decision making the strides and progress we all want for him will begin to happen.

I really like this post, and would expand it to include OSU's offensive scheme generally. When the OL protects the QB long enough for WRs to get open and gets some push, the offense can work fairly well despite what I feel are long-standing philosophical and schematic flaws (e.g., no real screen game, few easy automatic check-downs, no tempo changers like quick snaps or true hurry-up no huddle offense) that inevitably get exposed when an opposing DL is good enough to take it to the OSU OL (I know saying the offense works when the OL performs and doesn't when it doesn't is a "no duh" observation, but IMO OSU does less schematically or in play calling to adjust or help out the OL when they're having a rough match-up than most other teams do). This week the OL played very well IMO.

As for Pryor, other than his indecisiveness in choosing run-pass (definitely better this week), lack of physicality when running for a guy his size, and staring down of primary receivers (which I was hoping he'd be cutting down on by now) I haven't been that critical as I don't think the staff is developing him very well or scheming to his strengths (although the designed roll outs were an improvement this week). He is unquestionably physically able to make any throw and seems to be quite accurate when he isn't pressured much and his mechanics don't break down. Also, given how little he threw in high school or last year, I hardly expected him to be a finished product at this point.

While I do think this week's "improvement" had a lot to do with a lousy opponent and only a little to do with OSU, I give much credit to Pryor for bouncing back and showing some mental toughness: I truly thought that the staff might have ruined him for good last week . . . and I was wrong.

I agreed with this school of thought until Steve's post - TPs performance was right in line with every other offenses preformance against Minny this season.

While I understand you, and don't necessarily disagree - there is some merit to the "it was just Minny" argument. However, I would be willing to bet that 99% of the people who use such an argument don't know the actual FACTS Steve posted and are just blabing.

With that said, TP did infact look much better. Admittaly, it's hard to look much worse than 4 turnovers (should have been 6). He seemed to step forward and deliver the ball with solid feet and also didn't have as much trouble deciding when to throw and when to pull it down and run.

He had some more "flashes" this week and made some money throws. I was impressed, Minny or not.
