WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

But you just proved my point. While being outstanding at basketball, he's not elite.
you have obviously never seen him play. like i stated and you failed to understand, he's underrated at #30.
And as far as closeness in proximity, it doesn't get much closer than Pittsburgh.
what pitt is not exactly close to is being both a top-25 football and basketball school.
You can't get mad at me for hypothesizing that a recruit will stay in state,...
you're right. however, i am so gosh darn upset that i am going to end this sentence with an exclamation point... make that two!!

I think the real dangerous team here is WVU. Unlike Pitt, PSU & OSU, where he'd have more competition at QB... I could see Pryor rotating in for (or maybe with) White his first year, and then running the show with devine the next.

It won't take long for Huggins to get WVU to Pitt level in bball.

From everything I heard from people in Jeannette (and I live close and have a lot of friends there), he isn't even considering WVU strongly. I think eventually it will be us or Pitt from what I'm hearing, though he will probably flirt with schools like USC, Texas, and maybe even Florida.

The fact that he's rated #30, is all the more reason to have an ego about his basketball skills. My point wouldn't hold true if he were a fringe D1 basketball prospect, in addition to being the top football prospect. Then he may be content with just contributing, ala Julius Peppers. Or would it hold true if he were Lebron James/Greg Oden. Any basketball team would clear a place at the table for them no questions asked. But he's not those players, although he is very good, all the more reason he would believe he should start. And that's not something one could reasonably assume, coming in month's behind in practice time, with roles already established, at what you're calling a "powerhouse" basketball school.

People are getting into a semantics debate about the word "elite", and that's just a ridiculous distraction from the core issue.

This is getting way off track, but I don't understand what you're trying to say. Unless somebody is Vince Young on the football field and Greg Oden in basketball.....he won't go to a school that's a powerhouse for both?

I got news for you.....that person doesn't exist.

what you're missing in all of this, bernini, is that pryor would never compete for a football national championship at pitt. players of pryor's rare ability think about national championships. with ohio state, he knows that he can make a run for a national championship in football as well as basketball.

If you are under the impression that South Bend is 4 hours west of Jeannete, PA you seriously need to bone up on your geography.

Did I say 4? Crap. I meant to say 6, because I KNOW that's not a 4 hour drive.

I should probably dig up that article, 'cause I know I messed up on something...

.... yeah, it was 6 hours.

Pittsburgh Sports Report - Double Feature. Two Sport Star Pryor a Special Talent by Chris Dokish
"I want it to be within six hours of here," says Pryor. That eliminates Pryor's previous dream school, North Carolina. "It's twelve hours away. That's too far. And it's too hot."

More off track. James, Lebron James. Too bad that rule wasnt in effect a few years ago and even if it was, Lebron didnt want to risk football to get hurt. I think he woulda been an all pro receiver.

Just outta curiosity, who was the last player at a major program to see significant time in both FB and BB? Since Charlie Ward, the only ones I can think of are Tony Gonzalez at Cal and Curry at UNC...but I can't remember Curry playing much BB.

Julius Peppers also played some hoops at UNC. I don't remember how much though.

Having seen him play basketball I can tell you that if he wanted to, he could be a top 10 basketball player. He is so much better in the Pittsbugh area than everybody else at his level in basketball that he has never had to work to get better. If he he went to a prep school and concentrated on basketball, he would be as good as anybody in the class.

Great point Hubs, and very true. On a lesser note, had David Lighty NOT given up football after his sophomore season at VASJ, he would have been the #2 ranked recruit in Ohio for the 2006 class in football with only Beanie Wells ahead of him.

Peppers played a very significant role on the TarHeels basketball team. Enough to make it pro? No more than likely not. But he was a beast down low for them, and a big energy boost for those teams. He started at least one year I know, and I want to say two years.
